true. A few days ago we did a video chat with a family member because a quarantine birthday and I put a spot lamp pointing at us but it looked horrible and also it was annoying for us, so I pointed it to the ceiling and the result was perfect.
@@almarma It's because a spotlight isn't what you want, you want diffuse lighting. Bouncing it off a wall works, which is really what Linus should have done if he refuses to buy a different type of lighting. Heck, even just using a diffuser before the lights he has would have worked wonders. (A low tech and readily available solution would be some thin clothing in front of the light or something with tiny holes in it, small enough to not create annoying shadows, but caution, you can get a fire if you don't take into account things can get (very) hot.) Most modern lights would allow you to dim the light, which would be another solution.
Thank you! Thank you so much! By finding your video on correctly using the webcam, I finally don’t feel as alone anymore in my pursuit of converting people to correctly use what they have. Tho I would not agree with all the choices, you do, I agree with your overall message. „You can keep your cam small, if you keep your lights big.“ is a great way to sum it up, setting your contrast to 0 is a very interesting approach and I think I’m gonna giving it a shot myself. Your footage speaks for itself, after all.
18:32 I really love the character and personality of the moody lighting. The way you usually do it is very streamlined and professional, but I always loved the moody lighting you used when I first started watching this channel because it seems to compliment you and your artwork :D
Well. I started scrolling down at 16 minutes preparing to quit. Then saw your comment, clicked on the time stamp and mate, you convinced me to get a Brio. Thank you!
Yes youtube compresses alot, but that doesnt mean all 4k footage looks the same. Larger sensors like those found in dslr's and mirrorless cameras are not only good for a shallow depth of field. They also handle noise much better and have a higher dynamic range. This combination makes the footage way cleaner and much more gradeable (especially with 10bit) thus they retain more quality after compression. I absolutly agree that webcams are great and that linus' setup is kind of dumb. Lighting and setdesign will ofcourse have a much bigger impact on the image so getting that down first is important!
I think Linus's DSLR footage looked like crap for a combination of various factor. To start with he was clearly out of focus. The stuff behind him looked sharper than him. The exposure was also all over the place, and the lines in the image looked jagged as if the image was lacking anti-aliasing. All in all, it didn't look like 4k image at all. It didn't even look like 1080p.
Thank god I saw this video before I went out and bought as DSLR like I was considering. Your info is great and the image quality you are achieving is awesome. Thanks. mate!
I thumbs up because I like his good-looking bald head, his Eastern European sounding accent and also his logical explanation of Linus's camera setup flaws
Good vid, I also always turn off the auto settings. They always give me bad results, I use a Logitech C922 Pro. Try out the nVidia RTX Voice, it is INSANELY good for voice capturing and noise elimination. Works on none RTX cards too.
You are a genius my friend. Thank you so much for this. I was wondering why my Logitech Brio quality was so shitty, I had reverted to using my iPhone 6s but just recently reconfigured my studio room and made it a point to see if I was overlooking something with the Brio. You explained this perfectly and helped tremendously! THANK YOU
Good video. I would put the last bit of the video with optimal video settings at the start and clarify that the image can look as fantastic as that and the previous set-up wasn't optimal. The last part looked best by far including scenery. For me, the parts before that lacked some detail, were a bit too bright and the colors were a bit too grayish. You (I) can see that mostly on your head and arms with skin. It's also a matter of preference, you might like a brighter, less saturated picture.
I've never understood LTT's production setup. It's massive overkill for what is fairly basic production values. Then again, pretty much all their projects are the same, with few affordable by their audience.
Boro, I liked this a lot. Very diplomatic (and entertaining). At the end of the day, you qualified all your opinions in a very balanced way. You also had time to give a lot of very helpful advice and tips. Very much appreciated.
Great video, guy. I’ve always thought you had a premium video setup. Surprised it was a webcam. I’d trust Linus with suggestions about computer hardware but he’s not a “video guy”. Your kit is much more sensible. Do you use the BRIO for the ‘over the shoulder’ shots you sometimes use?
I think your decision to make these somewhat informative videos was great, you aren't holding anything back. I feel like you stand out more now as an individual creator rather than making content for the public. Athough I do enjoy your Over Pain series Good luck on your continuous growth!
Great vid dude... I love your cheap approach to things. I will say the image quality is only okay. It's quite muddy. But, it's definitely not bad for the money at all.
Please create a video strictly using the Logitech BRIO 4K webcam with its dual built-in microphones for Zoom. No separate mic, camera or portable lamps. There will be no recording or streaming using the BRIO 4K, just need to have better video image and audio quality using the BRIO 4K as is with supporting Software. Not sure if Streamlabs OBS or OBS Studio will provide any improvement. As mentioned not for streaming, recording or creating a video. Looking for better Zoom results. Thank you kindly!
This so much, I have a c922x (just a c920) and it looks terrible with normal lighting, but when I set up 3 rgb led lights that I grabbed for $180, the shot looks incredible.
Thanks for a Nice Video. i Guess this was the BRIO 4k webcam. but i really would like there to be a fair comparison between Brio 300, brio 500 and Brio 4k when settings are used. i saw another video comparison letting the camera settings stay at default. which really disfavoured the Brio 300 more than i think is true. maybe Logitech wanted the expensive option seem much better i dunno
oh boi! 😂 so true. Pewdiepie did the same wrong pronunciation and I thought everyone is doing it as a joke or smth, but it seems like some ppl really don't know 😅
So this video is shot with what device? A Logitech Brio 4K webcam? Just want to be sure. I just ordered a Brio so I'm curious. Currently I'm using my Canon 90D DSLR and Canon 17-55mm f2.8 IS USM zoom lens (plus proper LED video lights) which gives me fantastic image and video quality. But I also want a portable webcam solution for when I'm outside of home.
So I was talking to my nephew about this camera and he says it's not a true 4K camera unless it has a 4K cmos and it's just upscaling 1080p to 4K ? I have looked around and can't seem to find the answer on this. Do you or anyone reading this comment know if this is a true 4K camera or is it upscaling 1080p?
Excellent Advice , the image quality didn't look very good with your green screen background and only 2 lights in front, i was trying to see what was the issue, then when you did the final clip in the end i realized when you added the back light and it made all the difference in the world , it makes the image 3D and pop together with your Fill and main lights excellent job. Lighting is very tricky subject i have been struggling with it for a long time. Thank you for sharing.
Being an amateur artist, camera geek and pc enthusiast, I'm really digging this new type of content! Btw, that control thing for the brio is a windows thing and I hate it. It resets every time the computer restarts(at least in my case, and I've seen other people with logitech and microsoft webcams that happens the same) and when the "white balance" manual, there's no actual way to control the real white balance which actually changes when that is in auto and not just the tint changes. Just wish windows had better audio and video implementation.
for my brio settings of course set your camera to 1080p 60fps on obs then go into the cam settings on obs I say keep the the brightness, contrast set to 128 sat & sharpness as well. The white balance finding the sweet spot for you lights in a Kelvin light scale. I have my lights set to 4500 but I found 4600 is the sweet spot for me. Gain is super important as well. I set mine to 60 but playing with it between 50-80 is a good middle ground to play with. Last was the camera control unchecking the exposure and setting it to -6 if you set it to -5 or -6 make sure you have great lighting hitting your face but these 2 settings are the sweet spot. People think I have like a actual camera over a webcam which is great.
Thank you very much for the explanation on lens distortion. ......but now I can see a different kind of distortion and it's bugging me to no end. I may forget that you mentioned it and ignore the effects of it the next time I watch one of your videos, though, but for now I can see the edge of your table makes sort of a bell shaped curve. :( (maybe you changed it some more for the last clip, I can't tell because there's no table on the shot. :P)
I need those lights. I like the windows hello feature. How about for streaming, conference calls how do you tweak it? Using OBS? Also with those lights on my face, my eyes would hurt and I'd start crying.
For other software you recommend,The settings will save or it will lost after you restart the computer? Also i will appreciate what kinda Brio do you use?A standard one or streaming edition? Thanks for the great video!
@@BoroCG ahh I see, different led lights in there. the colored rim light really adds a lot to the image! :) thanks! may look into something like that then
@@BoroCG yea makes the videos less cluttered when its put of shot. But yea that's why the c01u pro is good coz it doesnt get that bad when put further away like some other mics I tried it makes them sound like there is an echo but there isnt
I have Logitech StreamCam, when i set Contrast to 0 image becomes completely flatten and ugly. This is strange behavior, hope it just how it supposed to work because its different model. All other recommendations works fine, thanks.
I make guitar lesson videos and I’ve been using my 11pro...the video is great but to get the audio I hve to record it separately then edit it back in later, it’s too tedious. I’d rather be able to record everything all at once. Maybe it would be better to use a webcam? I do prefer 60fps though, especially for faster playing, it really does make a difference...that’s my main concern about the Brio. Plus they say it requires a fast GPU, which I don’t really have either lol. I’ve got a Mac Mini which works great for audio production but doesn’t work well for video 🤷♂️
There are a couple ways to fix your issue use obs add the camera to obs then add the mic as a audio source (i use a focusrite scarlett solo because I have one mic if you want more then one mic a 2i2 for 2 mics for 4 mics 2i6) (the mic i use is a at2020) in obs then record to ssd or to a nas then do cutting and editing when done upload to your platform of choice
@@wiideathmodtv You can’t add a phone camera to OBS...it’s not a webcam lol, and all the “turn your phone into a webcam!” apps are terrible, they’re resolution and frame rate limited, and the quality is atrocious. Oh well. Ended up just sending the audio to the phone digitally with a lightning port audio thing.
@@5urg3x you are using a iPhone in that case use a lighting to hdmi adapter connect it to a capture card open the camera app then add the capture card to obs then add the mic to obs to then press record on obs and not the camera on the phone or use the ios ndi app and add ndi settings to obs
My monitor is on my eye level and so i don't really like having the brio on my main monitor because il be looking down the entire time so i put it on the side in-between my main and secondary monitor
I wish you had done ANOTHER video showing "how" you did that "new" setup you showed at the end of this video. Just to be easy... But, I know there are TONS of videos on RU-vid showing this kind of setup, so no worry's. Oh well.
