I have welled up with tears during each of your videos from the Expo so far. Even now, I'm sniffling over my ice cream. I think this is a clear signal that I need to do everything in my power to make it there next year. Thank you for sharing this. It's nice to spend a little time with someone else who gets it, even if it's virtually. 💛

I love how the thumbnail to this video was just a genuine moment. Most people would have posed like that for a photo on purpose to get a thumbnail for the video. But not you, you're just genuinely crazy excited for the tomatoes 🤣

Should I say You're Welcome or I'm sorry?? lol!
@zaviahopethomas-woundedsou9848
LOL... Welcome works, I'm never sorry for collecting seeds. My husband thinks I am a bit nuts until he says he wants some variety and I already have it or it has been sitting on my waiting list for six months. My box of seeds is much smaller than yours but I am working on it! We plan on purchasing five acres with a home on it, hopefully late spring. We have lots of repairs on our small house in town before it will sell. Thankfully we do not have a mortgage so it will be used to buy a tractor and a down payment. We are in our 50s so we need the machinery since our bodies are not working like they used to.

The other day, a friend at work brought in some seed packets to give away...some are a few years old, but have been kept dry and cool. I’m anxious to see if they germinate. If not, no loss, but if they do...yippee!!! I’m planning on starting some indoors and moving them to my new little greenhouse this winter.
@zaviahopethomas-woundedsou9848
Seeds stored cry and cool can last a very long time. MIGardener grew some tomatoes from 87 year old seeds! I think our government just wants to control stuff and that is why they must have a one year time frame they can be sold in. I hope they grow well for you!

Glad to see those Black Nebula carrots. I grew them last year and was surprised they were dark all the way through-thought maybe I’d done something wrong as all the other purple carrots were orange on the inside. Not the best tasting carrots in my opinion but gorgeous! Beautiful bountiful tables of produce. So glad you got to go.

Just ordered $45 in seeds from seeds now. Most are for fall but some are for spring/summer. I hope I'm not starting my fall seeds too late since fall already started here in Southern Califronia, but I think i'll be okay. This year was my first time gardening and I definitely learned my lesson for Spring/ Summer... I started my spring/ summer garden too late. Still did great, but could have done much better had I started earlier. We had an unheard of heat wave of 116+ for 3-4 days which wasn't very nice to the garden even though it was covered in shade cloth. I know if I planted earlier than I did, I would have had a much higher yield. This first year is my learning experience for sure! I was in the mindset that every summer plant loves heat. Well...not more than the 90's for tomatoes, chilis and cucumbers. The internet is full of lies lol

Thanks for sharing, very cool to see all the varieties. FYI I grew the Violet Sparkler peppers for the first time this year. Was bummed to learn after planting that they ripen to red (after starting out yellow and purple), since I chose them thinking they'd be purple. Very thick-walled; good flavor and juicy; very light producer for me this summer in zone 5b. Thanks for all you do!

I've got totes and buckets and bags of seeds. Ive told my family "I am over buying seeds. I need NOTHING next year". And then BAM! just like that i need that tomato there, and that one there, OH yes yes I NEED that squash/cucumber/bean/pumpkin/and so forth and so on, for sure!". You are a terrible influence. Im hoping for a better tomato year in 2019. We're about 5 hours west of you (SE Oklahoma) and while my peppers did amazing this year, my tomatoes were almost a complete failure. EEk!

I do not understand Ace Hardware, Wal Mart, Lowe's, Home Depot, garden centers, selling hybrid seeds only. I understand that seed companies make their money by people replanting their gardens in hybrid seeds every year, but selling heirloom seeds, so we can save our own seed for the next year, isn't cutting into the store's sells.
@heavymechanic2
@heavymechanic2 5 лет назад
Its my understanding that most mass retailers get their merchandise from the same source. Its also true that some heirloom plants don't perform well and turns customers away from a bad experience due to disease.

Ok, all very beautiful and lovely to see. And my seed locker is replete with seeds I have tried in my tiny raised bed garden in Southern California. I like to try new things so will probably continue to fall for the “seed candy” in catalogs, shows and nursery store racks. Here’s the rub... not everything grows here, and NOTHING grows in the same season as the seed instructions indicate. (Alright, NOT whining, just asking for a little help here!😜) I find I need to adjust my timing for most crops, I need to balance watering, soil, mulching and all the rest. But, (pertinent to THIS video) I’m wondering if anyone knows of a source of information for the following: 1) Which cultivars are better in my hot, sunny, dry climate? 2) what are the best soil nutrition supplements to add to my beds for each of those cultivars? Finally, if anyone has recommendations on soil science books or related issues, I would appreciate it tremendously. Thanks!!!

I dont think i could have made it through that place in a timely manner. How could you resist tasting all the watermelons. If you could taste and also see all the produce of seeds you havent hrown or have seeds but havent got a crop yet it would really be helpful to know ehat you really want to grow. What do they do with all that produce and why do they bring so much thats just going to rot? Do you get to sample anything? Im so glad to get all the experience your capturing for us. I have corno de toro but my package shows bright red ones. The tomatoes. Id be asking if i could make a sandwich or buy some produce. I couldnt be tempted like that. Ive not had a homegrown watermelon or heirloom tomato this year. I kind of plan my seasons around food. My first strawberry, first bacon tomatoe sandwich, first watermelon, first greenbeans and new potatoes, and fresh picked pumpkins and apples. If i miss it and have to wait another year its really sad and unbearable to wait for that taste sooo long!!!
