I love your videos because you actually make changes, tests, show where you clicked, where you changed, what you typed and why you did it, for a layman like me this is fundamental and productive. I saw that you mentioned that some people say that you read a lot, I think this is super natural and normal, a 35-minute video showing practically 1 new information every 10 seconds is impossible to read everything, keep it up, make your next videos exactly like this one , today I was playing around with Frigate's CARD and your video fit like a glove. Thanks.

To get the Birdseye to show up as a camera you need to enable "restream: true" under the birdseye config. It will then show up in HA as a camera entity. Then just select it as the camera in the Frigate card.

Chris, thank you so much for making these videos. Lots of options but you hit the highpoints and help me generate ideas of what configurations I need to make. Thanks again!

Thank you for you videos. I probably would have given up on frigate if it wasn't for your in-depth content explaining everything so well.

One day I'll do Frigate. EDIT: I caught @Chris saying "Lovelace". That's how you know he's an HA old timer like me! 😂

Don't listen to the haters, keep reading those descriptions. It's valuable to have visual + audio WITH commentary. ...also you've got a package on your front door 🤣

Hey Chris, you can use Birdseye as a camera entity if you have it configured in frigate, It works in the custom frigate card too. Didn't look like you have any cameras in frigate/Birdseye configured?
@mostlychris
@mostlychris Год назад
They are configured, but only appear with motion. What kind of entity does it show up as?

@mostlychris Birdseye is what I am looking for too. Please kindly do a video on this if you find out how to do it.
@mostlychris

Birdseye works natively in Frigate NVR. You should be able to just use it out of the box.

@@mostlychris thank you for your awesome video. I've use your videos to make frigate to work. Please try to configure frigate card with birdseye camera. It works but I cannot manage to take a good normal layout...

Hi Chris and thank you for all your videos. They are very educational. I see most of your nvr videos are related to Frigate. Do you favor this over Blue Iris?
@mostlychris
@mostlychris Год назад
I was a blue iris use for a long time but it required that I run a PC and offload object detection to another piece of software. I can run frigate on smaller devices that are less power hungry and use the built in object detection. Win Win.

Chris, are you using version 5 of the Frigate card. If so, have you messed with the Timeline view at all? The docs show video scrubbing in the Timeline view, but I can't make mine look like the example at all. And no scrubbing :)
@mostlychris
@mostlychris Год назад
I played with it briefly. There are some settings that allow you to configure how many objects are grouped as one. I think in the examples they show, they are doing a lot of grouping and they also have multiple cameras. I can get close messing around with the settings.

Hey Chris, great video as always. Been following all frigate cards and I can't believe I'm almost all set with my Frigate journey/struggles (I came from Blue Iris). So I followed your guide with the frigate card, I have 5 cameras (2 x 4k and 3 x 4MP). I created 5 separate cards for each camera with all go2rtc + live view default - reason would be is I want to view all live cameras at a single page. Problem is it would buffer like crazy on phone app (Desktop PC browser not as much). Found out that the frigate card go2rtc options picks up the main stream (high res) instead of the substream. Is there a way for the Frigate card with go2rtc live engine to use the substream instead of main stream? My frigate config.yml have explicitly configured main and _sub in the go2rtc entries. Or what would be best practice in general for setting up frigate cards in the dashboard. I guess its too much for all live cameras in one page. Granted I only tried this while on wifi, can't image how it would go worse if I'm on mobile data (I have Nabu Casa subscription). As always, thanks for all these videos!

First thought is to use the live mode in the config. Maybe set it to msjpeg or something like that. I haven't tried using anything but the high res. You could also just use birdseye and set it to display all the cams instead of only the active ones and it'll give you that same screen with substream views. Set the option to continuous. # Optional: Mode of the view. Available options are: objects, motion, and continuous # objects - cameras are included if they have had a tracked object within the last 30 seconds # motion - cameras are included if motion was detected in the last 30 seconds # continuous - all cameras are included always

Can we restart Frigate without logging in to the Frigate webpage? Maybe we can do a button if Frigate is stuck?
@mostlychris
@mostlychris Год назад
I have a button on my dashboard to reload the integration (not frigate itself). Sometimes the integration misses an update from a camera and stays in detect mode so I restart the integration. Hasn't done this in a long while. Restarting frigate itself requires you to load the page and hit the restart. I haven't checked if there is a service call in HA that will reload add-ons. That might be what you want if it exists.
