The amazing piano player is the late great Anthony Burger. Look up his story, it’s incredible. He suffered SEVERE burns to his hands as a toddler, was never expected to have full use of them. God proved the doctors wrong, he was playing professionally and touring with famous southern gospel bands at 15. He passed away from a sudden heart attack in his mid 40s, such a loss, but I know the angel choir is loving his skills.
THIS is the video that opened the world of David Phelps to me. During COVID lockdown, I was missing singing in the choir and church music. One Sunday morning I went in search of Gaither Vocal Band (grew up singing Because He Lives, etc.) THIS video was the first I found which sent me down the David Phelps rabbit hole! What a journey! He is the best tenor on the planet! Thanks for reacting to GVB Let Freedom Ring.
Absolutely loving your David reactions he is truly an artist in every sense of the word! This man can sing you straight to Heaven, his voice is blessed by God and hard work on David’s part, he’s the best tenor alive today. Barn Bash at his home is nothing short of AMAZING especially his Christmas concert!!❤❤❤
The gentleman on your far right is Bill Gaither. He started the Gaither Vocal Band back in the 60's. Next is Guy Penrod, Russ Taft, and David Phelps. I love the Gaither Vocal Band with David, Michael English, Guy Penrod, Mark Lowry and Bill Gaither. Wes Hampton also sings with them. Any, and all of the videos are amazing! Listen 'Worthy the Lamb' from San Antonio concert!
I don’t think Michael and Guy were in GVB at the same time. In 2009, The GVB quartet of Bill, Wes, Guy and Marsh was no more because Guy and Marsh left. Bill called on David, Michael and Mark to come back forming the first GVB quintet which in my opinion, is the BEST version of GVB to date. A close second was Bill, Russ, Guy and David. More recent versions with David were still good but after David left again, i have lost all interest in GVB.
I don't know if you ever read this far back, but I hope that you know somehow, that you bless ME , when you are Blessed. I've had an impossible year with the death of my Mother and Husband, my children turned me out., but watching you turns my hardened heart soft again........ Thanks For Being You
From left to right.. David Phelps.. Russ Taff..Guy Penrod... Bill Gaither. This was done at Carnegie Hall after 9/11 in memory of those who lost their lives.
Russ Taff sang with a group called The Imperials. He grew up Pentacostal and has some soul. Listen to a song called Ain't No Grave! Guy Penrod has some great songs on his own, as well. Both worth checking out!
