In my opinion, he sang most often about love, life and the difficulties maneuvering through it all the while being hopeful. P.S., many, many people love and miss him and will for years to come. Legends don't die.
I can say that I truly love Freddie because he has a magnetism that draws you in and doesn't let go!! I regret never seeing Queen live but I'm so grateful that we have so much music and memories to hold onto!!♥️♥️👑♥️♥️
He bought a place for them but never moved. I think he was living with Winnie. He thanked Mary, Winnie for board and lodging and Barbara Valentin for big tits n the liner notes for his solo album.
I just love the expression on John and Roger’s face. You can tell they REALLY loved their costumes, LOL, the things they do for Freddie. This song and video is epic, one of my favorites. Yes, I can also miss Freddie who I never met. Great reaction, have been missing you.
Roger and John hated being dressed up like that . They said “Anything for Freddie” Freddie shows the depth of his soul. That’s why he reaches our hearts . We all miss him deeply❤
Yes it’s possible to miss someone you’ve never met. I miss Freddie terribly and never got to see him live. Gratefully I’ll see Brian and Roger with Adam this October. I can’t wait. Mostly I wish we could have seen what else Freddie would come up with if he hadn’t passed away. Sad.
I have said that so many times how can I miss someone and cry for them when I have never met him. This is one song that I like the video than the live version.
The Rio version is one of the best of the 85, but there's the Brussels 84 version, it's incredibly strong! Freddie sings like he's on the "Hot Space Tour". I recommend
I love this video! I saw yesterday that Eric Burdon of the Animals just turned 82 years old yesterday on May 11th, 2023! He is from Newcastle also. Amazing musician!
He was asked to wear that by Mack’s sons for his birthday party and he did. He went into the bathroom and changed into it. That was so sweet of him. Brian said Freddie talked about the song with him because it had so much meaning for him and he wanted it to be just right. He was with his lover Winnie at the time and struggling with the relationship.
Awesome! No rush or pressure whatsoever, you do things at your own pace. Freddie took inspiration from the opera Pagliacci for some of the costumes ideas and the idea of the pain of love, specifically for the opening bars and lines, Freddie took inspiration from the iconic aria "Ridi, Pagliaccio," Personally, I LOVE Brian's costume best and his skull guitar, which he actually still has it in his collection. I've read that Freddie's costume is supposed to be a Mediterranean prawn. Brian and Roger's audio commentary for the video is hilarious! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HgWp78Spu6s.html
Hey David... Thanks for yet another banger reaction to our beautiful Freddie and the boys... FUN FACT: This video was filmed shortly after Freddie had the cast taken off his right leg that he injured on stage during a concert singing "Another One Bites the Dust", which is why he sat down on the stairs at the end of this video, his leg was still weak and aching... blessings.
Thanks for a great reaction! This has grown to become one of my very favorite Queen songs. It really pulls at the heartstrings, and Freddie’s vocals Bring just another layer of emotion to it.
'I try to fight back the tears...' oh man, so truly and madly grateful for this David. Ok, so it's a song of loss of a romantic kind rather than losing a family member but the lyrics still ring true- 'I'll always live for tomorrow' etc. I'm a fair bit older than you but I'd only found Queen 5 or 6 years prior to Freddie dying- and busy with A levels and so on never had time to think of going to a concert. When he died I was in bits for 3 days- like you I never met him, never heard him with my own ears; just through his recordings. Did you love the 'Prawn' outfit he was wearing!? And yeah, big hair had more than a passing resemblance to Prince! I'm forever in your debt for this, peace & love David, please keep them coming when you can. 😀
I love this song, tho my first impression of the video was those outlandish costumes and the stifling look on Brian, John, & Roger’s faces! 😂 But! The lyrics are brilliant! The live version at Rock n Rio 1985 makes me feel very sad. 😢 Thanks David 🤹🏻♂️🎭🎼
Roger said he thought Freddie looked like a giant prawn 😂😂 He hated the video and looked really pissed off all the way through. John just looked uncomfortable! Brian liked the skull guitar and wished it had been playable. Pretty memorable all round, if not for the right reasons.....
Great entertainment here. The music, the 'cast', the setting! Never am I bored with this production. Brian, John and Roger wonderfully challenge my attention... evidencing misery so effectively they were hilarious. Like the woman stepping on Freddie's foot. Yes, for sure Queen were the best entertainers!
That was a nice heartfelt apology to the man who requested the song. You sound really genuine and not just saying things for the likes which is refreshing. Sorry if I’ve said this before & I’m repeating myself but you come across as a really nice person & I like you. Hope you don’t think I’m a weirdo or a stalker for saying that 😂😂
Of course it is. We all miss him. ❤ Some of us were lucky enough to be alive when he was here, but even if we weren't he is still very much missed. Hoping you will do more of their music videos soon. I heard an amazing live version of The Prophet's Song today and was blown away that they attempted the 'round' live. It was so good 👍👍. I added it to my request list. What a dreamer I am 🙃
I miss Freddie every single day. Never met him but Id swear he was my soul mate. Love the reaction!! If there are still any performances/videos/songs by them that you havent reacted to, please PLEASE do. Thanks so much, David!!
You should go to Sotherbys in London in August where you will see 1500 items n display from Freddie’s Garden Lodge that Mary is auctioning, including handwritten words and most likely that costume he is wearing in this song. The beginning of this song is from the opera Pagliacci about a clown with a broken heart.
Ah thank you David I’m glad your better beautiful song and video love Brian’s scull guitar and the costumes were amazing Mary Austin is selling all Freddie’s things at auction I wish I could afford something she say’s she has to get her affair’s in order I hope she isn’t unwell all proceeds go to charity Freddie’s friend and true love to the end take care David x x
You should hear Brian and Roger's commentary about this video on the Greatest Video Hits 2 DVD! Brian tries to be diplomatic but Roger makes NO effort to hide his loathing of this video, it's hilarious! To be fair, he does say that he loves the song!
Love your reaction as always!! If you can check the facts about this video- you are right that Freddie was distraught- the buxomy lady was at that time Freddie’s lover- a Bridget Bardot type in Germany-. Many cool facts-
Nice! I love this song, and the video. It looks like one of Freddies parties. There does seem to be a big classical influence in this, especially the opening and the piano. And just a word of warning. If you don't get your haircut, you'll end up looking like Freddy here! 😁
Sorry to hear about the sadness going on with you. Yes, you keep your head up as you are an amazing young man! This song, the opening lines are so, so lovely and very beautifully sung. Actually the whole song is gorgeous. I like the video for it's drama and over the top excess.
Hi David great to see you ❤ Roger & John didn’t like this video especially Roger absolutely hates it you can tell by his face 😂 great reaction as always xx
