Just purchased your plans today. Can’t wait to dive in. I lived in Mt Vernon. I would go to the indoor pool in Anacortes a lot. Miss that beautiful area. Thanks for the vids!!!
Didn’t Festool recently buy SawStop? As aN informational video, Ron, it was enjoyable and enlightening. I especially appreciate that you show the imperfections that inevitably turn up in projects and how you address them. It’s a far better and more instructional experience for that included experience.
Really looking forward to the Sawstop experience episode. I’m sure it’s a good saw, and maybe the only portable saw to own (for those of us concerned about safety). But, It’s all about the trade-offs that a portable saw requires in exchange for its portability, right? For me it really gets down to whether it’s a less stressful and faster way to to rip stock that is less than the width of the Festool track. I don’t really like any of the solutions for that, so a table saw seems like the right tool. My garage shop can’t do anything larger, so the JSS seems like the answer. But, and this would be great to hear you talk about, how much trouble is it to lock it down to a precise cut when you really need it? Thanks. Great channel.
Ron, thank you for going over the Paulk workbench again. I have recently purchased the plans and am starting the build. I see the containers in your video in the background, and wonder how you store your tools and accessories in the plastic containers. Could you/have you covered how you organize all the parts, tools, and accessories for your work, outside of the SMART system?
Hey Annie, 100% of my tools are stored in The Smart Woodshop. The platic bins are all of our worldly possessions temporarly stored until we find a place to live.😎🤙
I've had the chance to use this table a couple of times now. It's fun to whip out in front of people:) I can see what people are talking about when they say the legs are delicate, but they're design to support a "mostly" vertical load, not be torqued from the side or pushed back into place. If you just let the table open or close on it's own and don't force anything, it works great ru-vid.comUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh Once it's set up, it's pretty solid. My only gripe would probably be related to the clamps provided. They're not the highest quality. They do the job, so no big deal, but they could be better. All in all, pretty cool gadget.
Thanks, that looks so easy I think I could do it. When will you put out the review of your new Sawstop saw? I'm waiting to see if it's what I want to buy.
Hey Kenneth, I will post a video soon as I have had lots of good use in the past few weeks. Hint: The SawStop Pro is the only portable table saw I would personally own.😎🤙
3/4" All the parts are. Plans are 20 bucks. He uses some special ply that is super light. He has speculated that all but the top could be made of 1/2" But he doesn't recommend it. 3/4 is 3.5 time stiffer, and more than 2x stronger. There is a little more to it than meets the eye, I have been in carpentry almost 60 years, and I picked up a couple of pointers I would not have immediately noticed. As a multihull boat builder torsion boxes are my thing, still learned a couple of things.
Please update your plans to include the template dimensions to a corresponding bushing and router bit configuration. Or sell template plans separately as a $2 add-on. Setting up my router with a bushing, measuring the bushing offset, and subtracting the offset from all of the final drawings was a tedious process that added significant time to my build.
@@jakoj2098 I prefer using the router and a template guide to make identical cuts. Jigsaws aren't quite as fast as using a large hole saw. But using a large hole with a hand drill is no fun.
Ahhh... So it should read: 49 lb, less than 1 sheet of 1/2" plywood! The comma is all important. If I were being pedantic (and I often am) I would also say that it should be 'lb' not 'LBS 'as it is both singular and plural (from the Latin) and should not be capitalized. The capital L does not help- there is no full stop previously to require it. Sorry, cannot help myself... The video is still great.
