I’ve always wondered why there isn’t a ‘light’ based type if dark exists. I know it makes sense in Japan that Fairy is strong against Dark/Evil but I can’t stop thinking that the opposite of dark isn’t a type itself.

Dark types are scrappy, underhanded fighters, but fighting types have actual martial arts and tend to be more heroic.

What would lights weakness be?

Gen 1 being optional? I always remember him stopping you and making you talk to him the first time to have to sit through the catch tutorial. You could opt to not rewatch then fight missingo. Leon isnt as completely dumb as a box of rocks and you get tutorial as needed. Other tutorials you can opt out of. Not sure which gen FINALLY introduced that, Oak asks in one intro if youve played before if i remember right.

Most of psychic's weaknesses are common fears like bugs are ghosts since fear could conceivably mess with a psychic's concentration or some junk like that. In English that theme continues as a lot of people are afraid of the dark, whereas evil, as a more nebulous concept, is not such a common fear. So either way, type match ups as a whole don't make much sense.
