A popular question on my Las Vegas tours is " Why is the Trump International Hotel Tower built off the Las Vegas Strip??" - A good question and its answer may surprise you!
The Trump International is a popular resort because it's close to the Strip. It has no casino and is an easy walk from your room to the elevator, from the elevator to the front door, and out to the Las Vegas Strip!
The Trump International Hotel Las Vegas is a 64-story hotel, condominium, and timeshare located on Fashion Show Drive, just off the Las Vegas Strip. The tower was named for Donald Trump who is half the owner of the building along with Treasure island owner, Phil Ruffin.
It is located down the street from Wynn Las Vegas, behind the former site of what was the New Frontier Resort. The exterior glass on the tower is infused with gold. Tower 1 opened on March 31, 2008, with 1,282 rooms. It has two restaurants and NO Casino!
When Donald Trump first announced the project, he had plans for a second, identical tower that would be built next to the first tower, but the plan was scrapped after the mid-2000s recession.
It is Las Vegas's tallest residential building at 622 feet. In September 2012, the Trump Organization announced that it sold roughly 300 condominium units in Trump International Hotel Las Vegas to Hilton's timeshare division, Hilton Grand Vacations. Most of the other units are whats called condo-hotel units. They have a private owner who rents the unit out as a timeshare or hotel room when not staying there.
