Great video. This build, all amd, is what I've been personally looking at. 6800xt is a beast from what I've seen. CPU temps and GPU power usage are the biggest concerns. Would love to see more AMD content, cooling solutions & you doing you! Hope you're doing alright IRL. Look forward to your next video & miss you and Paul weekly. Take care. Thanks for help

I think with how powerful the current 13th gen intel line up is at the moment, it doesnt matter that the 13th gen is the last gen for this socket. Kyle, I've been thinking about this "upgrade path" that most techTubers talk about for quite a white, because I think you are disconnected from reality a bit. You see, most of us buy a PC and then never upgrade it - at all. When we feel it's old and can afford to build a new system, we sell or pass it on and build a new one from scratch. So it doesn't really matter whether someone invests in, say, 5800X3D today - paired with a relatively new and powerful graphics card it'll still be a very good machine for years to come, so many years, in fact, that AM6 will probably be out by that time. I might be completely wrong though, maybe it's confirmational bias on my part, you might want to make a poll on Twitter about this, while it still exists :D
@lande.r1
@lande.r1 Год назад
I feel like the upgrade path works if you buy first gen of a socket, let’s say you bought a Ryzen 1000 series when AM4 first launched, you could update to even some 5000 Ryzen chips if your motherboard supported it. Hopefully AM5 follows a similar trend where people can upgrade their cpu in 3 years and still use the same motherboard, case, cooler, etc.

I want to see the “BALLS TO THE WALLS” parts list. Lmao. Interesting choice of words
@DJSekuHusky
@DJSekuHusky Год назад
Fun fact: "Ball's to the walls" is vernacular referring to aviation, specifically coordinated turns. It refers to a coordinated turn indicator, which looks like an inverted macaroni elbow with a tiny ball usually sitting at the bottom of the curve. The idea is that in a coordinated turn (ailerons on the wings used in conjunction with the rudder on the tail), the ball will remain centered in the curve and the turn is considered coordinated, whereas if you're, let's say, a fighter pilot and you're "yanking and banking" with inputs to the elevators and ailerons, the ball will travel to the outer edges of the curve until hitting the walls at either side. Thus, the term flying "ball's to the walls" was coined to describe such aggressive and uncoordinated turns and was later adapted to describe typically reckless or extreme behavior. _The more you know..._

Im kinda in a weird spot because the only thing I haven't recently upgrading in my system is CPU and mb. I'm currently on ryzen 3000 and a Asus b450. It seems pretty pointless to upgrade my cpu and board and not just go with next gen stuff. but at the same time id have to upgrade memory and drives for compatibility and to really see the benefits of new stuff. Guess I'll just build my game library and wait this one out.

You could stretch the b450 board to its full potential and get a 5800x3d which can last you a couple more years. You dont have to swap the rams or mobo if you just switch to 5800x3d

My roommate recently built a new PC. After using an i5 4670 and a GTX 970 OC for the last couple years (which he bought off me for $500 in 2019), he was ready for something more modern. Faced with Intel or AMD, he opted for the balance of the lower cost of AM4 and having it completely fully mature as a platform. Yes, there is no forward upgrade path, but there's no forward upgrade path to Intel after this generation anyways, and AM5 is way too cost prohibitive. He's not a tinkerer or an enthusiast - he just wants something that works. AM4 is perfect for that. He bought my 2060 off of me after I upgraded to a 3070 Ti, and he was looking at upgrading that for the last several months. I told him to wait until after AMD announced their next gen video cards. He did, then went and bought an ASRock 6800 XT because it's comparable performance to my 3070 Ti for about $100 less.

I'm contemplating making the jump to Raptor Lake since I'm still running 9th Gen, but it would only make sense financially if I keep it DDR4 (I already have 128GB 3200MHz). Otherwise I have upgraded to the Arc A770, which plays fine with the 9th Gen, I really only want the PCIe Gen 4 support for GPU and NVMe lanes. _shrugs_ I may just hold off til Meteor Lake (or higher). I'm not running into any significant issues really with 9th Gen, so it's more of an comfort upgrade.

Thoughts? Right now I have a 9700kf 1650 build that is ok for me, but I would like an upgrade especially for the GPU. I will probably build an upgrade system over the next few months. I was thinking about a 12600kf, 3060 ti, 32gb DDR4, build that comes out to around $1550. I'm contemplating whether it's worth it to go 3070 or even a used GPU, and whether the extra 50 bucks is worth it to go 13th gen i5 instead of 12th gen. Part of the reason why I'd rather stay with 12th gen is that for 13th gen I'd probably have to upgrade the mobo too, and z790 boards aren't cheap right now. I picked out a Gigabyte z690 Gaming X board for the 12th gen at $210 dollars, but I'd probably have to bump it to $275+ for a decent ATX z790 board. For GPU, I probably don't need the 3070 right now, but I'd like this build to be pretty future proof so I'll be able to use it for the next few years. I'd rather stay with DDR4, and was looking at a 32gb 2x16gb 3600mhz kit from Patriot.

For the cpu, id say 13600k, it is absolutely worth it 100%. And you dont need a z790, a z690 mobo with bios flashback will work absolutely perfectly and it will be better for your budget. I also recommend looking at used 3070s, on ebay they are selling for around slightly less than 400$

This year raptor lake has a better upgrade path, you can snag a cheap b660 board and get a 13600k for the same price as the 7600x at microcenter. And carry forward your DDR4 memory and by the time Meteor lake and Arrow lake comes out B700 series boards will be heavily discounted or you can pickup a lightly used one. And DDR5 should be price comparable by then. Not everyone thinks in terms of buying a new CPU every year.

I think you picked the worst cpu on the market right now, it is the worst selling cpu and the prices are getting cut overseas because of the poor sales, and this is very early price cuts for a New Gen cpu, and you use the term "future proofing" which is a stupid term, because you never know when something is going to go bad in your system, and you have to buy something new.
