Many people think they know what Crazy Monkey Defense is about…
Many instructors take the defense only and are then left wondering why it doesn’t work as expected…
The defense in Crazy Monkey, while a cornerstone of the self-preservation system - only works when you have all the pieces of the puzzle.
The Defense that I have taught for close on 3 decades is part of a comprehensive fight game plan, that includes not only the physical but equally the inner game to make it work.
To truly understand the entire Crazy Monkey Defense system and to be able to teach it to others in an honourable way - requires in person training.
There is no other way.
This is the way!

Absolutely amazing to find you again after 16 years. I picked up on your videos back in the day, and managed to win against a national champion (i'm swedish) in amateur mma by weathering his initial storm unharmed due to integrating crazy monkey as the foundation to my defense. Finally, I have the opportunity to give proper thanks, so - THANK YOU Rodney.

My first MMA Coach knew a lot about the Crazy Monkey system and taught it to us. I think one of the best things, as its said in the video, is that it gives you a great deal of confidence. When people have problems reacting to strikes, I immediately direct them to research Crazy Monkey.

It is one of best platforms for defense because it is easy learn and simple to use.

This is THE best thing out there. High percentage movements that don’t require a ton of athleticism!

Great! I heard the first few sentences and felt happy. All the fighting systems place not enough effort on defense. A good defense is like save haven. Something you can go back and be safe. A place were you can operate and dominate from. If one has a weak defense, he is constantly on the run, constantly backing up, because he can not cope with the amount of the incoming attacks.

I’ve only learned CMB from the video set that came out around 2010-2011 & Coach King’s SBG DVD’s. But I absolutely love it & have done my best to implement it into my gameplan! Probably the best striking defense & covering I’ve seen in over 20 years in martial arts!!!

Is your system only empty hands or do you take weapons like knives into consideration?

Yes we do...although I don't put that out in the general public. You can find out more here school-of-crazy-monkey.mn.co/

I still can't believe that your method is not more widely practiced. Perhaps it has something to do with plagiarism. I see your stuff all over the place, as you will do as well, and you are never credited as the creator. There are people been training striking arts for years that still are unable to defend even a basic jab when it is thrown with bad intentions. Your method would address that on day one. Stay positive, coach. All the best

You hit the nail on the head. Don’t even get me started on that. So infuriating. It's easy to steal than to do the right thing and put in the work. Or they have trained with us, left, and continue to teach my material - but remove all mention of us - to ensure they can be considered experts without ever giving credit. My biggest lesson in 3 decades of teaching martial arts: The involvement in martial arts instruction seems to completely miss the mark when it comes to ethical behaviour 😂

@@coachrodneyking I originally found out about this defense system when researching Keysi, Keysi, the way it was taught seemed to have a few good ideas, but quite a few glaring weaknesses. When looking into it further it turns out that is very very similar to crazy monkey defense, just with worse teaching and a lot more popularity due to it being mentioned and semi-featured in a couple of Christopher Nolan films. The backstory for how KFM was created did not make much sense either. It is sad that I first found out about this system due to researching a rather poor imitation of this system.
