@@Josh-cw8by They can't do anything serious with the MT-07 engine. But they can make something great based on the R6 and they should. It seems Aprilia and Ducati are breaking new ground. It's a good thing because Supersport doesn't work anymore outside the track. International sales are catastrophic.
Oh my god, after mentioning how the ninja 650 sounds like a lawnmower, and he said "Here's the ninja 650's exhaust sound" I literally got an add for a lawnmower loooool.
I was looking at getting an R6 but the Aprilia caught my eye a couple months ago and I’m starting to lean heavily towards the RS660, it’s just so beautiful
The R6 is designed for the race but can be used on the road, the RS660 is designed for the road but can be used on track. It depends on what do you expect from a bike. For a daily use, the R6 doesn't seem to be the right choice. I was about to get a ZX6R just before they announced the RS660 that's what I already wanted.
I agree as an R6 owner! How many track days are you actually gonna have in a year? Prolly not too many! I really like this platform and I can't wait to test ride one to see what it's actually all about.
@@dannydopamine2744 yes, just buy a scooter- for everyday ride its 90% will suit your need than :) :) - i cat believe people even compare this moped to R6!!
There is a really simple awnser to the oil problem, some European brands put a thicker Oil in their motorcycle which is changed in the 1000km Inspektion, it helps to drive in the engine.
I'm so excited to see the future of these 660's and what other new add ons they decide to add but it really seems like it doesn't need anything else besides a new exhaust and tune
I would think this bike would be even more sought after for club racing because the classes (LWT twins, sv650, MT07 class) this bike is far above its competitors! Super excited for your track day breakdown! I want to make this my race bike.
I'm one of those few folks out there cross-shopping a Ducati Supersport and the RS660. Both seem like great bikes for a Sportbike Dad who still wants to look cool, but travel long distances. I love the value and features that you get with the RS660. The Supersport is missing features that the RS660 comes with, which is strange since it is more expensive. But at the same time, I think I like the Panigale-inspired looks more. Ah, what to do, what to do...
this is my first bike from a tw200. its fast and easy to ride. its my daily driver i make a 150 mile road trip with it every weekend. no complaints here.
Oh boy the new aprilia rs660 is gorgeous, has everything I ask for and even more and is the perfect choice after my yamaha r3, and this video just got me hyped even more, it's gonna be hard wait until October...
I did so much research and I just purchased the 2022 limited edition red, white , and blue. Can’t wait to get her on the track and then take her to my second house in the Smoky Mountains near the Tail of the Dragon. Thx for the review!
@Sega HangOn As someone who actually owns bikes and doesn't just talk about them online. Does anyone know anything about RE? other than what this chuckle head says about them being POS(yes older single iron barrel from the past 20-30 years are not reliable.) has yammy ridden one...nope. are there people with 30K+ on them(with out issue) in country's that a R1 would actually fall apart going down the road on..yep.
I have a 2024 CFMOTO 450SRS (my first bike), but I keep going back and lusting over the Aprilia RS660! I think I might upgrade to the RS660 (the restricted version) and once I'm off my restricted license, I'll get the ECU flashed to release all the glorious RS660 HP.
@@Josh-cw8by I just picked an RS 660 up this weekend. It sounds a lot better once you get past about 6k RPM. Maybe doesn’t sound as good as a 4 cylinder, but it definitely sounds better then a cookie cutter parallel twin.
@@Josh-cw8by I just read that there's rumors of a Ninja 700r with similar power to this bike to replace the Ninja 650. It's still going to be a parallel twin though. I'll have to see it but I'm still thinking Honda in this class
Don't think it came through allt that well, the purr and feel of her sure is different to most of the others you could compare it to. She make me bounce and dance whilst riding, ain't big brother rsv4, but you sure know there siblings.
Yes, yes I do. One of the bikes that's highest on my list for a new bike. Though I'm wondering if I should hold off a year to see what the Tuareg will offer.
sounds like harley, handles like scooter, looks like supersport (when its street bike with fairing kit) , cost 30% more than in its class- your choice to buy or not :) - the only bits to go for - looks and electronics
People are reporting cracks in the main engine casing, the swing arm is connected directly to the back of the engine and it seems like it might be a weak spot😬
Papa yam, I love that you acknowledged the similarities with the ducati supersport! Very 'close' in power, farkles, and MSRP. The displacement is different but the ethos I think is similar-ish. My problem with the supersport is the riding position is total ass, turned me off from the bike immediately. Sitting on it was almost like the handlebars were in my lap with my back being far too upright and straight, almost like I was riding a TTR125 with my balls up on the gas tank. I could hardly tuck in regular clothes, no way I could tuck in a suit! Trash! I recently got to sit on an RS660 (no test rides sadly, dealer called me to tell me they got one in each colorway, I had to wait just 1 day to be able to stop by, and they were already sold!) and thought the riding position was much more sporty, yet comfy on the back, but still be able to tuck chin to the tank. For reference, I am just about Spite sized; 6' 2.5", 230lb / 105kg, 34" inseam, 83.5" reach (as measured like in boxing).
I agree with your suggestion of two RS 660s. In my opinion, at $8,000 USD, the Triumph Trident allegedly puts out almost as much power and about the same torque and seems like a much better buy. I get that it doesn't have Brembos, adjustable suspension, and crazy electronics, but like you said . . . who really needs all that? Again, in my opinion, the $3,500 USD savings with plenty of every-day useful options makes the Trident a much better option. However, a more affordable RS 660 with lighter features at a lower price might change my mind.
Yo I want a 10 dollar bet 🥵, my friend said next video about the RS660 would be the exhaust system and I said it would be "so you want an Aprilia RS660" , 10 dollas on da pocket, thanks papa yam👌
@6:02 It is a great beginner bike because beginners aren't created equally and some of them are willing to go all-in at their first motorcycle - money being no object. ;)
I’d have bought one for my second bike, but there isn’t any Aprilia dealers in Alaska unfortunately. West coast US is the closest. So looks like I’ll have to settle for getting an R7 after this
I’m stuck between a gsxr600, (maybe even a 750, but more than likely a 600) and this rs660. I know they’re completely different, but I’ve just fallen in love with the both of them for whatever reason. Just some x factor about the two of them draws me to them that I can’t explain. I’m also keeping an R6 on the list possibly, but we’ll see. I’ve always been a big Yamaha fan, but to be honest, for whatever reason, if I’m going for one of the big 4, I almost actually want the outdatedness of the suzuki lmao. Cable throttle, no traction control, no abs, just pure power and nimbleness and a connection with the road is how I imagine it. But at the same time I wouldn’t mind the rs660 for the exact opposite reason in a sexy Italian package while being a bit more streetable with the powerband and features like cruise control and adaptive LED headlights and all those goodies.
i also own gixer K7 600, and honda cb650r- test rode aprilia- it was like riding a scooter- no stability feeling, sounds awful as from 4 cyl to 2 cyl sound;, maybe same class as honda, but its nowhere near the gixer- different worlds (honda has traction and abs, and cheaper 3K than aprilia, and rides more comfy and attached to road) - all other electronics just for kids to play- not importnt
Maddest thing is every bike Yammie mentioned when comparing the RS660 when he said “I doubt anyone is cross-referencing the rs660 with a super sport” I am that one guy that can’t decide between the CBR650R, RS660, super-sport s, and F3 675 😂 and later when my license lets me a ZX6R is going straight in the garage
@@musicjnky1982 awesome. I really needed to hear that. I'm still not sure but I'm leaning towards this bike. Another question if I may, do you use it frequently? I'm planning to use it also for commuting, pretty much daily. That's why I'm not sure. Thanks mate
@@ricardog4459 I use it 2-3 times a week as a commuter, depending on the weather. It's great because you're not all hunched over like you would be in other sport bikes like a Ninja 636 or R6 or even a Ducatti V2. It's really comfortable.
I've been wanting the RS660 from the very beginning, and when I finally got the money to buy one, I ended up buying a Yamaha R1! I couldn't help it, I wanted the raw power knowing damn well I'd be more comfortable on the Aprilia RS 660!!
@@Am4gedon well actually you can't convert a motorcycle to A2 if it has more than 70kw of power which is ~94hp. Also the power to weight would be 0.207kw/kg at 35kw which is more than 0.2 so that is a no too.
@@pasal99 11,5 is not cheap for a bike with useless electronics thats built to Italian quality. I had a bike built in Italy, it was a fucking headache compared to my Kawasaki
What’s the maintenance cost and like for this bike? I’m seriously about to buy one but I heard the maintenance is “high-ish”. Like, wtf does that actually mean?! Also, I heard that there’s a leak issue with them. Papa Yam, HELP!!
Got news for ya . Both bikes sound like lawnmowers. 😅And this bike though awesome as F”$& ! Is not comparable to a 636. Not even close. 650 yes but not 636 i have to disagree there. But great content as always man.
love how you have to compare the rs660's exhaust note to a big lawn mower when we all know neither of them can touch the godly sounds the mt07 and sv650 make
For those interested, I don't think the cbr650r is a fair comparison. At least for non-US countries. I picked up this year's Cbr650r for just over $12k AUD (9.1k usd) and the RS660 is poised to hit our streets soon at a staggering price range of 18.5-19k (plus on-road costs). A huge difference... Not sure why. 4k extra is just not an affordable jump for the same power, famously unreliable servicing and some fancy electronics.
Need a 2018 CB1000r for testing? Got one with 800miles, broken in and ready to go, might as well try it out, on one get ‘em. I’m in Houston and works ride it out there for you for a burger and a beer. What do ya say!? Got sliders and a Akra on her; she’s ready minus a quick and auto blip, over rated anyways. Hit me back and can’t wait to meet up.
I long for an Aprilia in a way that is unhealthy, but the dealer network... Good god, Piaggio, what are you doing? I don't want to ride 3 hours for service.
@@bradleyland Get on the AF1 Aprilia forum. You'll actually enjoy doing your own service! And you'll have no choice but to agree that Aprilia has exceptional build quality once you're on the inside of the machine! I've got a deposit down on the Tuono 660 though as I prefer the naked bike.
I'd love it if I only had to drive 3 hours for a dealer. Where I live in Canada, I'd have to drive 10 hours, take a 6-hour ferry ride, and drive another 3-4 hours. *sigh*
Since I saw your first video on it I love this bike. Really wish I was in a better financial situation so I could pick it up. Might have to happen someday..
Gotta make it happen by any means necessary. I’m paying off $2000(yes $2,000) worth of credit card debt next thursday that was costing me $160 a month to bring down my total debt so I can afford the payments, insurance, and maintenance on my future toy 😅. Hope you can get it done man! The bike looks soliddddddd.
Question - You say this bike isn't for a beginner. I get that but there is also a 35kw version that Aprilia has released. Is that version ok for a beginner and can you just do a software update to get it to the full power version later when you feel ready for it?
Uh? The Trident is a entry level 3-cylinder roadster with 80hp and the RS 660 is a premium 2-cylinder sport GT with 100hp. Why would you compare these 2 models? Maybe a comparison with the Tuono if you really want to...
@@Burnout_Blanco Sure thing about Triumph: they can get into the game seriously if they manage to make a sport GT model based on the Street Triple 765 RS - a Daytona GT somehow. Maybe for 2022 if the Aprilia becomes a best-seller this year.
@@ravagerxiii5488 so long as an individual is responsible and understands how to control the bike fully I think they could upgrade. Definitely upgrade man once that 400 is boring
@@TheJMan1K I think he meant “Don’t” cause I think this would be a terrible second bike , don’t trade or upgrade to parallel twin from a parallel twin , plus it’s only 259 cc of an upgrade in power , if you love your ninja 400 , move up to the z900 , zx6r , or zh2 , I believe that you’ll have lots more skill and experience to gain to add to your journey to becoming a better experienced rider ...

Yammie, I love this bike but I cannot connect my phone to it. I have a 2021 S1000 RR and it connects easily to my phone. I assumed it would connect more or less the same way with the BMW app. I know Aprilia has an app called MIA which I downloaded on my phone but I can't seem to make it work. HELP!!!!!!!!!
The Aprilia RS 660 is a Supersport Motorcyle for daily use and track days also without problems. General warning for those who are jealous! : Any defamatory and slanderous comments that will one day be filmed as boomerangs and used against you!
I hesitated to buy one. Got myself a used 1290 superduke GT instead, for 500€ less (and 18,000 miles). The 660 does look good, but it is a tad too expensive. Suspensions need to be upgraded, especially the rear shock. And there is waaaaay to much electronics. Cruise control and ABS I get it, but traction control on a 660... unnecessary.
@Vanessa Xoax I can compare because this bike should be in the 8k range. Not so long ago you had supersport hi-end 600cc's at the 10k mark... This tuono does look good, what makes me mad is too see that they prefered to put bluetooth and lcd screen instead of good suspensions... It also seems normal to compare new bike prices to used ones. Most motorcycles today can easily pass the 100,000 kms mark...
