The scary part about your outside stove is that the leak was on the line BEFORE the control valves. That means the propane was leaking any time your tanks were turned on. The propane could have built up to the point that any spark inside the cabin would have ignited it and blown up the whole camper. You were lucky
@TheDisgruntledMechanic
@TheDisgruntledMechanic 2 года назад
Actually there is a hose to hook up from the supply to the stove when it is actually in use with a shut on the supply side to the stove so actually the only time we had a supply of propane to the stove was when it was in use but still a good point if it was hooked direct!

After owning a camper similar to yours with many of the same problems my best advice and please excuse my english " Take that piece of shit back and demand a full refund " because it's only going to get worse not better. You like myself bought a Monday/Friday Camper it's just the way assembly-line construction is!
@TheDisgruntledMechanic

Is this what you did? If so, did they give you a full refund? Thanks!!

My parents have an rv they bought new in 1999. My dad and I have noticed that the quality of rvs is not the same as vehicles. They seem to crank these out of factories in Indiana with a focus on quantity.

And that's why I will never by a camper/rv. They're always a one off and takes a special person to fix correctly. Plus unless you travel a lot I don't think they're worth the price but this one seems to be reasonable.

We actually use it as a place to stay with the dogs when we go to Helga's moms. We do not really take it anywhere camping. This was sorta out of necessity that we bought this.

There is no such this as quality workmanship any more . Lucky that the outside stove didn't explode. Your right about the unknown problems that could be hidden. On another note it does look nice on you upstate lot.

I had a 2008 model camper that I bought to live in when we flooded. It had a couple issues but nothing serious like that and we lived in it for 6 months. I know I never want another one thow.

Yeah we got it more out of need than for a luxury or towing/camping.

Tell you what. New camper’s are horrible as far as craftsmanship. I’ve been in a brand name camper manufacturers production floor. Not as a employee, a outside contractor. The number one goal is production numbers, quantity not quality. Cheap material’s is a huge issue. Their not made to last. Just pulling them down the road will create issues due to the poor craftsmanship. I’ve owned a few of these pull behind disasters so I also know from experience. The bottom line is if your spending less than $40,000 your settings your self up. Good luck
@robertgrauman8602
@robertgrauman8602 2 года назад
Sadly, if you're taking it in, it could be 6 months to a year before you get it back. It's my understanding that the manufacturer rep needs to come out and determine if the repair falls under warranty or not, and they don't come around very often. Good luck.
@TheDisgruntledMechanic
@TheDisgruntledMechanic 2 года назад
This was reported last fall not long after I bought it. They just got the parts in to fix it so that is why we we were taking it in. So it "should" only be a week or so, they tell me.

That is enough to make you disgruntled. There is probably another problem or two you haven't found yet. I think electrical and gas work should be inspected and signed off with initials or a sticker at least. I guess quality checks is one of the areas they cut costs in.

@@TheDisgruntledMechanic I live at a camp in a cabin (a shed that's been finished inside). Whoever put it here didn't put it up on blocks and just put it directly on the ground. I am going to be building another one, but the stipulation is that it has to be mobile. Everyone always asks me why I don't just get a camper or they send me links to park models. 1. The electrical systems in campers are inefficient. So much is made to run on 12 volts and the power converters and inverters are just electric hogs. 2. I like a completely open floor plan. I have 12'x15' of open space currently. New one is going to be 14'x24' of open space. And a 8 foot porch, where there will be a 6'x8' bathroom. 3. Stud construction with insulation means my bill to heat and cool the place will be minimal. I can put real windows in the thing, whereas camper windows are single pane. They sweat inside during the winter, and the walls are also very thin, even on park models. I'd be going through 100 lbs of propane every 2 weeks or so. 4. I don't like camper toilets and that whole plumbing system. 5. It's much easier to seal a house water tight than it seems to be to seal a camper. Their roofs are very fragile. So they say to gut it down to an open floor plan and stud it out, insulate it, put home windows in it, put a normal toilet in it, rip out all the wiring and replace it with residential wiring, blah blah blah. So who would want to buy that when I'm ready to be done with it? No only would I not have the width I'd want, but someone would rather buy a real building on a mobile frame over a camper that's been transformed into something that's not recognizable anymore.

Mike you are having some rough days between campers and EV’s. I’m sure you will get everything worked out. A few yrs. ago I purchased a new gas stove for the house and the first time my wife turned the oven on it went up in flames. Oh what a night. Gas lines were not correctly hooked up 😡 Quality and safety non existent. I think from now on I better do everything my self LOL. 👍🇺🇸

Wow , how does the factory floor installer not see a 3 inch hole in the floor . I have a friend with a 40 foot trailer out of warranty got a leak in his roof and was told you can't patch it because the whole ceiling must be taken down and the roof replaced in the area of the leak . Quote was $7K so he put a tarp over it for the winter. Trailers are great if you can get a quality trailer. I looked at my friend's wiring at the tongue and a 6 year old kid could have done a better job , just a birds nest of grounds with crimped ends that will have the whole harness wires gone black in a couple of years. I would think they would use waterproof connection but no it was all wired so every connection will corrode. Right from the factory they used scotchlok connectors so I told buddy to take some good electrical repair courses for when things don't work HAHAHA. Hope they sort it all out and I'm guessing they fill the floor with a round peice of wood smothered in glue from below and don't touch the flooring . Let us know how you make out.

post the name of the company here so everybody knows to avoid them. Typical quality coming out of manufacturers these days. It’s not only new cars that are junk these days. I hope you can get the issues resolved and enjoy the camper. from both videos from you and your wife, you seem to be have a nice thing going. You should be able to get some enjoyment. I have to be honest about your wife’s videos, they usually annoy me, not because of the video, but because they make me hungry, and when I watch them I can’t do anything about it.

No kidding the campers today are absolute junk!!! We purchased a year old Winibago hoping any issues were fixed! Nope still had major issues the thermostat needs replaced, the wiring from the AC to the furnace has a break somewhere? Our water heater has something wrong with it. Now that we purchased a used even only a year old Camping World will not warranty it so we just got a $44k camper we will have to put several thousand into to get it right. Some say you have to deal with it because that's just the way it is? If an automobile manufacturer did this they would get sued in class action lawsuits out of existence. I guess my next one will be imported from the UK they have laws over there that companies can't screw it's customers like they can here. Only issue is the doors are on the wrong side and I'm not sure about the hitch they use? Maybe I can order one with an American layout?
