I know what you mean... I drove heavy crane trucks for over forty years in the southwest... There is a LOT of stupid out there... with the grace of God, I never had as much as a scraped bumper... I agree, if you stay calm and follow some simple guidelines lines as to pay attention to road sins and traffic 1/4 mile in front of you, then not be in a hurry, plus know if you miss your turn it is easier to make a U-turn later than panic and try to get over last minute. All works well, and the reward is seeing so many beautiful places.

I am seriously considering a career change and delivering RV's, Camper Trailers and Camper Vans. I am not interested at this time in Fifth Wheels. Is it possible to drive for a dealer only. The idea of driving for an agency does not appeal to me. In the past I have driven 24 seater buses. I have also driven 10 ton trucks for long distances.
Driving for a particular dealer, I have not heard of since the late 80's/ early 90's. I had a neighbor that drove for three dealers out of Delaware. But even that was limited to going to pick up repair units and then return them. That included setting up and breaking down. Are you looking to do Tow away or Driveaway? Tow away you need a great running truck. where as driveaway, you fly back or get another unit to take some where else, or have a tow car. Note this is an election year and if you do your research you will see that the industry has slowed down. Think, research, and then research some more. The trucking industry is closing some of the top name brand transporter companies. There are more drivers then there is merchandise. Please research before taking the leap of faith.

My co driver and I do 4k-6k miles a week for one of the big pkg companies. It pays well but agree it is hazardous, more so in the winter. I’m retiring soon at 55 and will probably do something else on my schedule. I wouldn’t mind driving a bus RV once and a while to make a few bucks. CDL is always a valuable tool . BTW Lake Jessup outside Orlando has the second largest concentration of alligators. I crossed it 4x’s a week for six months.
I understand wanting to keep doing something during retirement. It's like dad use to say, go to college for one semester every two years, it'll keep your mind always in check and you active in life. If you want to try doing this every month or every other month my reference info is under most of my videos.
