Glad to see you guys back together making videos! I have always enjoyed your in-depth and minimal editing tutorial videos. I know its probly super fucking discouraging that your channel never "Took off"... But with CarPassion uploads becoming more rare than hugs from my dad, there is a huge lack in Miata tutorials that you can fill 👌
@@tylermatthiesen6821 I hadnt seen it, thank you for the kind words! and its not really too discouraging, it is a lot of work and not easy and not everyone gets lucky, but truthfully we did a lot better than a lot of other channels I know that we started out around the same time. Basically took a break for two years but now that Im back at it again the videos have mostly been doing decent and we just hit 10k subs! Greg does a fantastic job with his vids and he is a friend, hope he gets more active again too!
This was great. Looking forward to the rest of the series. The injector information was super useful about jumping to the 1000. I'm in the start of my turbo project and just getting ready to install AIT and Wideband to get an ECU installed and start learning the tune before adding the turbo.
Awesome thank you! Hoping to start the megasquirt and IAT etc. next week these last two weeks have been stupid busy for me havent had time yet but Im going to do that and the MS first then start adding other stuff
@@GearHeadsGarageChannel Good luck on the start. Looking forward to following along and seeing how wrong i get mine. I'm going for a speeduino (from speedyEFI plug and play kit) as a way to keep costs down, will be interesting to see how much work that cost saving is going to cost me.
@@GearHeadsGarageChannel Its certainly missing some of the MS3 features, but i'm hoping its a cheap way into tuning and getting boost. Will post up something once i get my head around where everything is going.
Thank you brother! Its good to get back to doing videos again and while Im now doing shop and tool stuff I'm looking forward to projects again! Need to get my car done!
I'm going to be running a Kraken kit with a GT2554R on my 1.6. We're just waiting for a day for the tuner to have an open day and we should make some great numbers! I'll actually reply to this with Dyno numbers and probably see if I can get a video up as well! You guys are awesome!
@@GearHeadsGarageChannel I will for sure! It's in the best hands right now with Miatas and More for the build, and BP Performance Specialties for tuning.
@@Criam we ended up making 234whp/220wtq on that setup. Now I've got a built engine that's waiting on an accessory port for my EBC and radiator fan. Should be in the ballpark of 300whp
Im sorry that happened man. I can relate, I spent a long time building my last one and someone wrecked it and it had only been like a month since the car was "finished". This channel started out of the rebuild of that with the car in this video.
GearHeads I don’t know if you remember, I actually responded to some of your videos when I got t-boned in my first Miata from the hospital. That was a great car. I bought another in the same year and color. It’s had more issues. At this point it’s going to be cheaper to buy another than to repair this one and try to build it like I want. I just want you guys to know, your videos helped me with the first car with the few issues it had. They also helped me with the current one to keep it going. Hopefully I get as lucky on the third as the first! You guys have certainly helped a lot though.
@@eredruin I was just joking saying looking to get one sounds good! If your having trouble finding one I am sorry! They are fun cars with so much you can do with them!
I tried leaving a comment on your O2 wideband sensor install. However I wasn't given that option to leave a comment?? So FM has their own O2 wide band sensor. In their description they say "Intended for use only with stock ECU. Not required for cars with full replacement ECUs such as the Hydra Nemesis, FM221 or Megasquirt. I've also purchased the Megasquirt PNP Pro. Is the O2 sensor in your car still required?
Thats strange?? I wonder why it wouldnt let you. And I did not know FM has their own but If I was to guess I would assume its just the sensor to be wired in and not a gauge? Either way...I discuss this in the video, if your asking do you need to keep your stock sensor then watch and I explain it and how its wired up depending on whether your on a stock ECU or not. Also depends on the year of the car.
Are you talking about a tablet to replace the stereo and maybe give wideband data and map data? that can be done with an android tablet hooked up to Megasquirt, but what is your ultimate goal?
@@GearHeadsGarageChannel yeap exactly. You worded it a lot better than me! Goal would be for less clutter/gauges within the cabin, GPS to be able to self time at tracks without a phone, for it to also collect data and to have different tunes at a touch. What are your thoughts? Cheers
I havent done it in my car and dont really plan to, I do think its really cool and can be a good option if thats something you want but I dont personally mind having the physical wideband and boost gauge installed. Up in the A-Pillar they look good and arent cluttered or in the way and if I want more data I'll use a laptop or hook my phone up. Some of the newer ECU's now you can hook bluetooth up to connect with your phone or laptop. Dont let that stop you though it is a cool idea and I've seen it on a couple cars!
@@GearHeadsGarageChannel very valid points that you have made. Like I said I'm just researching atm so I value other points of view, and you have point a few out! Looking forward to your next video! Cheers, from Australia 🍻
Coming soon Im sorry 😭😭😭 Life has been busy and money short, wife just finished school so Im going to start buying parts and will take some time working less to get it finished
