Soaking your Dentures 

I had all my teeth removed at 38 and now am wearing full dentures at 39 but before it got really bad to where I had to get them removed I was dealing with this for about 4 years I had missing teeth I felt self conscious and wand I was depressed and scared to go deal with the problem and kind of became recluse but honestly my final draw was loosing one of my front teeth and I was just like ok I've got to deal with this it's not going away and its effecting my mental health to a point I couldn't keep a job Because I didn't want to be seen ....it was the best decision I've ever made I don't know why I waited so long.. it's a scary thing to go through and also depressing but I'm learning to love myself and my new smile and yes I definitely soak them every night I use tablets and I still brush my gums everyday at night and in the morning before I insert my dentures. To anyone going through this ordeal my advice is to do whatever you need to do no matter how hard it may seem the end result is very satisfying and well worth it✊️✊️.. and you would be surprised how many people have the same issues... you are not alone

This video was truly helpful. Im having oral surgery tomorrow to remove my top teeth because they have become unsaveable. All the emotions you discrided I am going through that right now. I'm scared and anxious about how I am going to feel about myself and how my husband is going to look at me. The first year with dentures, I spent oodles on cleaning tablets, Stainaway and pricey mouthwash/cleaner. The second year, I switched to soaking my dentures in hydrogen peroxide with a rounded teaspoon of baking soda. The two are magic together! Cleans and disinfects, eliminates tartar and WHITENS. Much more economical, too.

I turn 70 in July 2023. I just got dentures. only the tops ( they screwed up making the bottoms) so we have to redo the making of the bottoms. Nothing ever goes right for me. I am so scared. I know nothing about the care of of these man made monsters! What do I clean them with? Soak them? adhesive to use? Keeping my mouth cleaned? I feel so hopeless. and my Insurance is cheap I a widow on limited income will have to pay what the insurance does not! I am so worried. I need your advise on these issues. Please. My first night home I cried , I paced, I could not speak right, I could not eat, I felt so ugly. hopeless. Then I found your & your video I regretted getting dentures. You helped me calm down. You gave me help and hope. I was sent home with no instructions or products to care for my dentures and mouth. They did give me a denture cup with a lid. Please tell me what products I need. Hi there 😷it's my first day with implants it's been hard for me but it's over thank god, I've been following your channel over 5 yrs now and last week I decided to go and see a dentist for dentures implants was out the question because of the price , but it turned out that I would be getting implant supported dentures 🤗 my husband managed to find a way to pay for them. I just got my bottom teeth extracted and my immediates today. I am in severe pain. Is this normal and if so when will this pain start to subside? I think my immediates are fitting well but man I did not anticipate this amount of pain. I did have 10 extractions. Also I would like to thank you. The information I have gotten from your channel has helped me alot and gave me the confidence to get this done. Please keep helping us denture newbies your awesome hank you so very much.

Your teeth are just like your shoes. You just take off when you get home and relax. Lol. So far everything is going okay for me. No pain and I took a few hrs to fix my speech and I can speak properly. Just have to try eating...

Whether you had implants or dentures, you have such a wonderful spirit. You are absolutely correct in regards to the dating issue. Woman often, as myself, can be tremendously hard on ourselves, because we compare ourselves with other women. Whether it's the girl next door or who's who on the red carpet. Everyone has something, not all is glitts and glamour. Just keeping it real and the new saying, it is what it is! We can't go back, but just move forward. how do you soak your dentures if you cant take them out with out a doctor?

Monday I go for my consult with my dentist. I am going to have him walk me through the process of getting dentures from start to finish. I decided to get 2 bottom implants that will snap into my bottom dentures since I heard the bottom ones move around more than the top. I have finally saved the $9,000.00 it is going to cost to extract the rest of my teeth, the tori removal, the 2 lower implants, the full upper denture (comfy) and the lower over denture for implants. Wish me luck. I will update my progress.

I’ve had dentures for 15 years now and never once soaked them for 6-8 hours let along every day. I clean them good everyday and occasionally use a sonic cleaner on them. If implants are essentially dentures that are screwed in then I don’t see how that’s any different and they aren’t being removed and soaked everyday. No one has every seen me without mine in 15 years other than the guy who pulled them and whoever was in the room with him. I’m trying to get another set now, if I do it’ll be easier to soak them, I still don’t think I’ll be going without very often though.

Similar experience at 31 had to remove them. Soft enamel runs on my moms side. My parents put thousands in repairs but i could not get over these teeth decaying. Brushing 3 times day did nothing. I was in so much pain from the jaw infections for over decade. My whole personality changed without mouth pain.. Best thing I ever did was pull my teeth. I’ve had 3 sets since then. I’m 46 now. Last set would have been ok but wanted to change my smile. It’s really cool they can change your bite. You can actually see my teeth now when I smile. I love it. Only thing I’ve lost is my nerv to kiss my wife. I’ve not been able to kiss intimately with dentures. Even very clean I just feel weird. Like she thinks it might be weird. Anyone else feel this way?

It took me 11 months to give up my face mask while my dentures are soaking. I feel better with my family seeing me but I'm not running around in the world or making my YT videos without my teeth. I give others credit who can go without their teeth but I paid a lot of money for my Ivoclar Vivadent smile & I want to enjoy it. Glad you're doing good Kristie! 💞😁

I just had my upper teeth removed and three bottom. Dentures on top, partials on bottom. What do I "soak" them in? I'm brand new at this and 60. What adhesive should I use? Alot of questions.

my nieces had heard I was having my teeth pulled and that I would wear dentures so once it was done I walked into the room they were looking at my mouth for the dentures so to make things less uncomfortable. I told them "hey I can sound like a running horse" and clacked my bottom dentures lightly to the top very fast and it sounds like a galloping horse. lol it broke the silence and ever sense no one metions them and it's as if getting dentures never happened they don't keep looking at them.lol I'm 45 and have had dentures for 3 years.

Does anyone know if it’s common to get infection in your gums even though you have implants? Had done two months ago and I now have infection. Not happy 😢 as I thought having my teeth out would mean an end to all that! 😢

I was in that same position last year where I had partials in my mouth and I visited so many dentist that would not work within what I had because now I know that they didn’t want to put in the work so they would make excuses on why they couldn’t do it and try to give me something That I didn’t want so one day I had the faith enough to walk into an office that literally smell like money and I did not feel like I belong there. But that was the beginning of my journey last year to a new and healthy smile. They made my dreams come true just to make a long story short they gave me a $50,000 smile and I couldn’t afford that and they knew it, but I had to faith enough to walk to rigor and just open my heart and be honest and if I wouldn’t done that, I still would be chasing my tail. So to all of the people who are suffering from missing teeth, please don’t count yourself out walk through the door of faith. Thank you so much for sharing that.😢

I had my first pair of dentures for about a year and basically never wore them because I would have to put so much glue in my mouth just keep them in and I couldn't eat with them. Just went to get them realigned in the dentist I went to said that they were way too big for my mouth and now I got new ones that fit perfect with no glue. But I'm wondering can I soak them in the 5 minute cleaning tablets overnight and then just brush them and rinse in the morning?

I only have a complete upper. The majority of the time its soaking. I have no bottom molars, only the front 8 teeth and 2 of those need crowns and i need a partial. Do any dentists do pro bono work, or information on traveling volunteer dentists for volunteer free dental? Im in west Texas. Disabled, tight fixed income, and no dental insurance. Sorry there's no way it's necessary to soak them 6-8 hours. I soak mine about one hour while showering and cleaning up. If you need to soak yours that long you need to be finding a better cleaner!

I have telescopes on the bottom and regular dentures on the top. I just think of them like glasses or plastic surgery or acrylic nails. They are prosthetic really. I did not feel embarrassment when all my teeth were removed, I felt relief. All the years of suffering with pain or embarrassment were over. I love my new teeth in or out of my mouth than what I had before. If someone has a problem with my looks with teeth in or out, well, that is their problem. If you act normal and natural about it, they will too.

I have a friend who does not soak their dentures overnight because they were told the cleaning solution would damage their reline. Is this true?

Kristy I was wondering if your hybrids are made of the same material as dentures and if so since you can't soak every night per they aren't removable, is this a problem? Will you experience bone loss? I was just curious...

Just got my dentures very hard to get used to getting softener and some adjusting done but they look great

I have a sonic cleaner which is only used for 5-10 minutes a day.

Question; I have been told by different people, but if I have a soft re-line will the dentures tablets ruin that? Just not sure what to soak them in with the liner. Thanks

I lost my teeth at age 53 or 54 ,i just got a 2nd set last month ,lots of adjustments,not like the first set they gave me no problem.

50/50 mouthwash and water plus a cheap ultrasonic cleaner for about 10 minutes then sit over night.

There's false eyelashes, breast implants, rear implants, and the list can be never ending. What is one more??!! Just continue to keep it real!!

I'm watching this March 2019, I was wearing dentures for almost 4 years I've lost 13 teeth 6 in the upper and 7 in the bottom. I am very stressful,shy always irratated because of I lost my teeth. i woul always cry because it hurts my tooth and I couldn't afford the root canal so they took out most of my teeth.i feel horrible now I am 28, years old and my dentures still the same it kind of lose already it's just very expensive to do the permanent one. I'm curious as to why all adhesives say not to use but once a day. For me, it's almost impossible unless I just don't eat or drink at allll. I did find something online called "secure" which is the only "non WATER soluable" adhesive and it keeps them in place for a lot longer than anything else I've used, but even that eventually seems to soften or whatever and mainly the bottoms come loose when I eat or drink. Anyway, I just was curious as to why it says not to use it more than once a day. There's no way I can do that unless I just want to go with my teeth out (which is only an option at night for me).

My Sister in law is my age and had all of her teeth extracted and got dentures, they look amazing but.... when she took them out at their Dads house and my husband had this horrible look of horror on his face and he told her she looked like a witch! and I do NOT want him to look at me that way .

And more confused now because my dentist said I shouldn't soak overnight.

Is there anyway you could give me some peace of mind? Also, I don't have my partials for my bottom done yet... I feel like I am going crazy not being able to eat and my energy has defiantly declined a lot. Any suggestions on what I should and can be eating?

I really appreciated your very honest, encouraging, and focused info. I have a story. Similar to yours, but it started when I was only 11 yrs old. My Dear Mother....took myself and my younger bros. to Loma Linda School of Dentistry.Since we were in a low income bracket. ,The state sponsored ins.. would help with dentistry, if you went to Loma Linda. So that's where we found that most of our teeth were needing fillings and other work. Now, this was 40 yrs ago. So we have to take that into consideration.Now, mind you, none of us had ever had so much as toothache that was bad..However, like you my bros and I endured incredible stress and pain. There was usually about five different students and teachers sticken there hands in our mouths and drillin and fillin everywhere they could on each visit..About 10 yrs later is when my disaster starts with multiple dentist visits for root canals and extractions, etc. I lost all but 4-5 teeth ,total over the next few years.I did like you, I just went for Dentures because I was really tired of covering my mouth when I smiled. And I had no way of affording implants., Nine years has come and gone and I've been through several different Dentures and repairs and I just can't do it anymore!..I was hoping you would read this and maybe have some practical advice on different programs that are offering Full dental implants ,for low income people.
