I will be getting my temporary set uppers and lowers in 7 days. I have watched most of your videos to help me with what I need to do to prolong my dentures. I would really like to know what foods you really need to stay away from so you don't damage your set.
Hello, just got uppers and doing ok with them, still dealing with swelling but it's the mental that's hard😐just subbed and hoping i can find some tips on when you feel those nubs😲..thank you for the tpis. Looking forward to watching your other videos!
I don’t know the first thing about dentures, but I just got my first set of full dentures about a month ago, and I don’t know if the problem I was having is called occlusion or whatever, but the teeth didn’t fit together inside my mouth the same same way they did when they are out. There was a huge gap in between the front teeth! So I finally went back today to have it looked at, and the dentist took the dentures in the next room and came back in about 5 minutes, put them in my mouth and now they look like they are supposed to when I smile. But when I get home and take the teeth out, I realize that He completely removed every single cusp and point on all of the back teeth, top and bottom! It’s Completely flat now, like I have worn them for 20 years! Like I said, I’m clueless to everything dentures, but do You know if this is a common practice? And will I still be able to break food down properly with these dentures that have no points at all on any of the chewing teeth?
I'm in a healing denture, last Thursday a soft liner was put into my denture and I was told not to use the tablets because it would mess up the soft liner. Why is the tablets an issue won't using a tooth brush and soap wear it away too!?
Hi Angie, I would use them as much as that particular brands instructions say to as a maximum . If the brand says 2 times a week, then by doing more , you maybe doing slight damage to the denture . So follow instructions and that should keep you on the right track. Be sure it’s still manually clean daily with a tooth brush .
I just got my dentures 10 days ago and have a soft liner. I have been soaking my dentures in a effervescent antibacterial denture cleaner at night. Does this ruin the soft liner? I saw that somewhere online but is it true? I'd hate to ruin the dentures I just got! Tonight, I plan to brush with antibacterial soap instead and just soak in cool water.
Hi, I think using the soap would be a safer option. It’s just a guess, although , the soaking agents may have done additives which may harm the soft liner . When brushing with a brush, be sure to be gentle on the soft areas to reduce the wear on them
Absolutley if you can. That’s how all labs clean dentures before sending out . Maybe once a week along with cleaning with tooth brush daily would be good for the denture
Hi Ive just had my bottom dentures and I'd like to know do you clean then before you speak them or is it the other way around. Once they're clean how do you let th fry before putting them back in, please??? Xx
Hi, Generally liquid soap , can be hand soap or even dishwashing soap. They are all good products to use . Just be sure to give them a good rinse after :)
I just got a soft liner too and was told not to use the tablets because it harms the liner i was also told not to use tooth paste because it would make my teeth taste horrible i just use original dawn soap seems ok but it does seem odd to use soap and not tablets
Hi Matthew , patients have told me they use warm water to help with this . Both in the mouth and on the denture when cleaning at night. Have you checked the user instructions for that particular brand ? Maybe they have a trick to what works best ? Good luck though
@@thedenturecliniccanberra4968 Thanks for answering. I've discovered that after taking out my upper, I rub my gums with coconut oil; the Polygrip comes right off. Very easy!
Hi John. Every brand of adhesive is different . From what I have seen, they all suggest warm water though. If you havnt already done so, I would try reading the care instructions done that particular brand , and also try to find a RU-vid movie or it. Maybe there will be some good tricks in there . Good luck …
I would be only guessing , not sure it’s needed though. Usually cleaning with a tooth brush and soaking with tablets , although soaking in tablets not necessary, these 2 things combined should keep your denture clean it’s whole life
