What makes this all the more sad is that Soap was essentially Ghost’s first real friend, if his dialogue in MWII was to be taken literally. Ghost lost his best friend; his brother. Samuel Roukin sells this with how his voice slightly cracks when he says goodbye. Rest in peace, Johnny.

Soap just dies like he’s some kind of side character to the franchise

Props to ghosts voice actor though. For someone who comes off as so intimidating, hearing him scared is something else.

Price ain't wrong. Soap truly was one of the best. Remember the things he did to contribute to 141, especially the crazy stunts he pulled. Man offered himself to be held captive by a mexican cartel for information and capture Valeria, fought off shadow troops with make shift weapons despite being wounded, while being hunted down, and even pulled the same tactic when going up against Hassan and his men. Man's an absolute unit.

Hes wasn't just. Soldier.... "He was the best one there is" "The toughest" "Would have fought the world barehanded" He lived, he saved lives, and he died... May his soul rest in peace, may god blessed him to the heavens. Rest in peace johnny, fly high

Price is very popular in COD and Ghost is most popular of them all but Soap is on another level...He is not a character but an emotion for millions of gamers in the world. How can they play with our feelings like that...

Kinda sucks that Soap had to die in this new universe. Was hoping he was one of the surviving characters.

In fact, both of Soap's deaths are brilliant in their execution. OG MW3 had a more cinematic feel, because at that time, everyone wanted action and spectacle, and OG MW was built on this. in the new MW everything comes down to realism, and a little bit of cinematography. Soap's death was truly realistic. There were no dying screams or grunts. Just a shot in the head and a note in the document about his death. Both options for Soap's death capture my heart in their own way. OG - tragedy, new - realism.

My man was one of the best characters throughout the whole franchise My man fought like hell in Mexico, killing so many shadow soldiers, despite the fact he was shot and badly injured, and gave intel to the antagonist, and almost dying in the middle of it. What a G His death really hurts more when you realize he died by the same guy in both versions R.I.P. Johnny

I really feel bad for Ghost. I known he has a cold heart but there's always a breaking point and he was a good friend with soap. I can't imagine what he has stored to take revenge on Makarov RIP Johnny 😞

You can actually hear the pain from Ghost's voice when he saw Soap and scream "Johnny" felt bad for the team especially Ghost. Two are the best pair in this rebooted version. RIP Soap😔

Somehow the ending cliff scene and the music invokes the sad memories on "Black Hawk Down". Perfectly crafted and incredibly sad scenes, both of them.

Soap whole funeral scene was actually emotional asf and ghost saying “rest in peace Johnny”was heartbreaking bc they had a bond like brothers.

Soap honestly deserves better. As disappointing the campaign was, we can all agree that the ending shot on the cliff was perfectly written.

This was sad FOR NO REASON!!! I think it would have more impactful if Gaz died and soap lived. It’s just not fair to have a character barely introduced to almost soon after be killed off, and there was just no sadness as that of the OG MW3 from Price cause he barely knew Soap for a bit. That ash spreading scene still got me. My boy can never get a break 😢

You could hear the pain in all of their voices once they went to spread his ashes it’s a shame he got killed like that but he died a hero😢

Soap always has the habit of being the “Shonen Protagonist” that dies halfway through the story and it’s the mentor and his friends that end up taking the role of the protagonist. To be honest I kind of like that type of “Plot Twist.” RIP John “Soap” MacTavish.

I like the fact that they used the OG MW tragic acoustic theme in here when Ghost was with Soap's ashes... man this hits hard

I really enjoy COD and how much work is put into it. It all hits so hard and so real. All I can really do is watch the game clips. I don’t own and gaming devices (because I don’t game) but COD is definitely a game I would play and probably Rainbow 6.

Though it wasn't nearly as emotional as the original mw3 soaps death still hurt knowing that Makarov pretty much made him a promise that he was going to kill him, and he kept that promise. R.I.P soap

The only dude who actually took Soap’s Death in a realistic way was Ghost The way he exclaims “Bloody Hell” after Makarov escapes is actually quite natural It’s like when Woods finds Mason, Dead and is like “You Bastard!” It’s not too loud but it’s like the dude is pissed off

Price and Gaz, although sadden by his death, refer Soap as a soldier who fought and died. Ghost spoke upon it as an actual friend rather than a squad mate. Development from MW2 is crazy.

Imagine letting Graves "die" then come back and then killing Soap in one of the dumbest ways.

The fact that ghost seemingly forgets about the bomb and tends to soap immediately after the areas clear, ghost lost his little brother, doesn't seem to care at that point if the bomb goes off and he dies

This will take me a while to recover. Soap's death was legitimately unexpected for me because I was expecting him to live given the development he's gotten alongside Ghost in MWII. It's such a shame because we could've gotten completely TF141 to go after Makarov. :(

What pisses me off the most is that in the OG game Soap became Captain of 141 and recruited Ghost, Roach, etc. after he thought Price died. The dynamic of Price (OG prisoner 627) being Soaps mentor and close friend is also what is missing in the remakes.
