Translation(rough) : Vessel is made of soft soapstone . It is handmade . Curd set in this vessel stays fresh longer . It is pale when new & gets darker when cured . It retains heat for a long time so u can stop heating 3/ 4 way of cooking . It retains aroma & flavour & balances acidity of tamarind & spices . U can cook almost everything except foods that needs to be roasted . It can be bought near temples ,online or near potteryshops . U need to season it before u start cooking . It is heavy so wipe well . Mix turmeric & castor oil to a runny liquid & coat the vessel all over . This prevents cracks . Leave a day in the sun . Do this for 5 days . Dont wash it inbetween coating . After 5 days soak the potbin hot water . Let cool overnight . Next day wash it with a scrubber and very less soap (this is the ONLY TIME U WILL USE SOAP TO CLEAN it ) next 5 days soak it in rice water . Now clean with powdered salt or riceflour . Now it is almost ready . Fill with water & warm it on low in a stove . Let water get hot , switchoff stove & let cool in the pot . Pour off & coat in oil & warm in low flame for a minute & let cool . Never heat pot on high flame or as a dry pot as it may burst . Make only rasam for a week . Dont temper or deep fry in it . After this procees u can use it for curry kootu etc . Clean by washing with salt or riceflour or gram flour . For curd pot soak & wash with salt . U can now use it for setting curd . Cleaning is as suggested. Pls dont use soap . Thanks .

👍 Excellent video. Very informative. One important point to remember is that one should never use tongs (Kidikki) to remove Kalchatti from stove. Chances of breaking

Hi Madhu My maakal dosa tawa I washed and now dosa is getting stuck to the tawa. Thus is not bee tawa I have been making dosa. I washed as it became black. Now my dosa sticks😔pls help
