She likes to call herself The Flying Queen! Padmashree Rachel Thomas, the first Indian woman to skydive over the North Pole, equates limitlessness with fearlessness. Life gives everyone an opportunity to break free from the limits that we put ourselves in, and it is up to us to make the most of them to soar high. We have to break the barriers, fight our own battles and go out every single day with our head held high. And, there is no shame in crying our hearts out once in a while, so long as we remember to wipe our own tears and stand up to fight again! India’s first woman to skydive over the North Pole, Padmashree Awardee Rachel Thomas decided to taste the thrill of Skydiving 40 years ago, with two young kids in tow! And then there was no stopping her - Since her first jump in 1979, she has completed 650 jumps in 18 countries, representing India at various National and International competitions. She is the recipient of National Adventure Sports Award (now known as the Tensing Norgay Award), Indira Priyadarshini Award, and the Railway Minister's Award.
