Seeing Adam's knowledge of hockey both from him playing NHL and watching is awesome. Fun to see. I remember him getting freaked when the goalie would leave the ice to give an extra man for a penalty/last bit of the game.
About the Ryan Miller clip, that happened because it was Troy Stecher's 4th NHL game, and he didn't want Troy to fight someone like Matt Martin. I'm also seconding the Thatcher Demko suggestion. OR a reaction to weird shit commentators have said/memorable calls.
A quick funny...Back in 2011 I was at an LA Kings training session Hextall was our assistant GM, Johnathon Quick is our starting goalie, I have no idea who took the shot, it may have been Brown, but the puck hits Quick in the mask, he pretty naturally loses his...calm...and smashes his stick on the crossbar....Hextal yells "calm the f**k down"....I lose it, everyone in the crowd loses it, the players lose it, Terry Murray loses it.
Goalies Olaf Kolzig and Byron Dafoe had a fight one game. They were best men at each other’s weddings. You could kinda see them laughing but they did throw some punches.
As a goalie, i understand all of the boys, once it gets to that point.. 5-6 goals you feel terrible and you just want to smash anything in your path. And lemme tell you, you teammates try to cheer you up but it just makes you even angrier at yourself
Goalies are seriously my fav. You have to be a little crazy to want to have pucks shot at you and literally get in front and stop them. Amazing athletes!
@5:28 They don't usually get fined. Now if that stick breaks and hits one of the refs then possibly but I can't recall off the top of my head that happening.
Would love to see another Evgeni Malkin reaction video, one of the best players in history but is quite under rated and like a unsung hero in my opinion.
I’m from Pittsburgh, am literally looking at a signed Malkin jersey, and I agree. i don’t even appreciate him as much as I should’ve all these years. 2012 Malkin was out of this world
Absolute numbskull play on the coach's part. If your goalie is having an off night, you pull him, not only for the game score, but your tender's mindset. No wonder Roy went off on him. That would've felt humiliating.
That and the way he acknowledged the montreal crowd basically being mocked they regretted the way they treated him and rest is history. Went on to become one of all time best in Colorado.
One of the best "goalie losing their shit" moments, was Tuukka Rask playing for the Providence Bruins. It was during a shootout, and he felt the goal should not have counted. He broke his stick, and threw items from the bench as he was leaving the ice.
I love you so much Adam ❤️ great video. I feel like there's quite a bit of pressure on the goalies. I was wondering if you could react to the soccer goalie compilation. That could be interesting also. Take care 🙂 💕
The sticks break more than youd think. the NHL prioritizes convenience over straight quality with regards to player equipment, which is why skate blades pop out and sticks snap randomly.
You should react to the David Ayers incident. It's one of the cooler things that have happened in the NHL in the past several years. You'd probably get a kick out of it.
React to Mike Modano. He's one of the most underrated superstars of the 90's. Won a cup with Dallas. Hall of Famer, too. And was one of the greatest American NHL players to ever lace up the skates! Also i believe he is the first American to go first overall, to boot...
Ah, the insanity that was Ron Hextall in goal. He's our GM now in Pittsburgh. I'm not sure how to feel about it. It was a running gag that Robbie Brown was going to be his Asst. GM, and that would have been hilarious. (Hextall tried to chase him down on the ice after he began celebrating a goal on him back in the day.) Back in the '90s there was one game where Ollie Kolzig from the Caps tried to skate to mid-ice for a fight. I can't remember who he was trying to call out though. I think we had Ken Wregget and Tom Barrasso in net back then. Lots of fights between the Pens and Caps through the years.
When playing Boston not too long ago, our goalie (Pittsburgh) made a good save at the end of the game and said “what an f’ing save”. Brad Marchand (a player on Boston) took exception to that and punched the goalie in the head. A scrum ensued. Refs escorted Marchand off the ice and while skating off he waved his stick at our goalie’s head. Thankfully our goalie didn’t do anything to jeopardize the end of the game but I sometimes understand a goalie’s ire. They put up with a lot of crap.
Possibly the most insane I've ever seen a goalie go...look up "Jaime McClennan incident." He chops an opponent in the stomach full blast with his stick. He was ejected less than 90 seconds after coming into the game. It basically black-balled him from the league.
the amount of goalie sticks you could maybe count but no way in hell youre ever counting the entire amount of sticks broken throughout the whole 100 plus year nhl haha and if you want to check out some nice dangles, look up " the magic man - Pavel Datsyuk "
Hey Adam love ya channel mate. I would really really really love to see your reaction on what we call state of origin where they pic the best and meanest AFL players for a once a year game that stops australia. Its a huge event and pretty brutal with no protection gear. Like American football but minus the helmets and shoulder pads. Australian Football League (AFL) Best and the hardest players in the world. It will make you sick...... Keep up the good work
News for ya...ALL us goalies are a little soft in the head. Doesn't matter what level we play at. You have to be a little different to play this position, you just do. Think about it, goalies are responsible for a team winning or losing more often than anyone else of a team. The pressure is constant which breeds a different kind of mentality compared to skaters. That and we willingly stand in front of shots ranging from 70-90+ mph all day long.
A lot of hockey players are VERY superstitious. There are so many small things the almost every player abides by like not touching the Conference final trophies because if you do you wont win the Stanley Cup. Sticks are also like that where if you are losing bad you break your stick and get a fresh one. It also goes the other way, if you keep scoring you protect that stick with your life.
