I thought about getting the X1 but my Harmony Elite and Harmony Touch both still work fine and I like having the docking cradles for charging, so for the moment I'm sticking with my Logitechs but thanks for the honest review. Thanks for the review. I am also lucky enough to have one being sent for a review. Really looking forward to combining all my remotes. Not a problem for me but my GF doesn't get how to use them all. My last remote was a Pronto color touchscreen which was two houses ago. It seems encouraging they responded quickly to you. A good friend is the best low voltage guy I have ever met. He is looking for a fairly simple system to replace Harmony. He really dislikes the high end stuff that requires a programming guru every time you add a new piece of equipment.

I was a Kickstarter buy-in and have had this sitting aside cause of all the negative early reviews (Youthman etc) I figured software updates were coming, so after seeing your more positive review I figured I would give it a try. I have a logitech Elite, but I refer the Companion remote cause it has hard number keys and that is a big benefit when working the set-top cable box. I have two hubs set up, the primary one also interfaces with Alexa. The bedroom set up is a TV, Set top box and Firestick and I was using an older Harmony One, but w/o any Firestick activity (no bluetooth). Figured the X1 (if it worked decently) would be idea for this. Set up was a bear compared to Harmony. As it is now, the phone app gets disconnected from the hub whenever I leave the room and wants to do a new ADD Hub/Bluetooth connect. I found shutting and restarting the app solves that. I feel the device is clunky. Getting the device menu to respond is an adventure (could be me, I don't read directions much). I did set up activities and reprogrammed some keys, so I'll give it a try and see how it does over the next few weeks. The worst part looks like using the cablebox numbers to flip TV stations. I'm concerned about getting 3 digits entered before the set-top tries responding with the first two... time will tell. For cord cutters, without the need to enter digits, this may be a non-issue. And the BACK button is HORRIBLY misplaced (upper right), while the RETURN button icon visually conveys BACK. More to come I'm sure.

Sir, Thanks for reviewing this remote so completely. My entry level Logitech remote is getting old and my need to be replaced soon. The SofaBaton X1 may be a good choice when I can afford it. it is too bad that Logitech has abandoned their loyal customers. It think it is time to pay Logitech back by not purchasing any more of their products. All the very best and keep your great reviews coming.

Good luck. Make sure you check your exposure on both cameras to be the same and your colour direction. Also Fade in an out your audio between music beds and try not to have dead air.

Great review! I’ve been using Harmony remotes since I can remember and it was a devastating blow to hear they’d been discontinued. I never had a need to go all the way up to an Elite and I’ve been babying my…740’s?…745’s?…along, hoping to find a suitable replacement. With only 4 devices per TV now with all 3 game consoles gone (and no home automation) I’m wondering if the U1 might not be more my speed. Let’s go find your review of that one because this review was great!

I have had my X1 for a month today as a matter of fact. And I still haven’t been able to get my configurations as far as activities go the way they should. I see that your video is from 2022 and it’s right now, 2024 and I still don’t see any improvements, which is a shame because universal remote control that again manage activities is hard needed. Like I said, I have been trying to set it for one month using all kinds of combinations and all kinds of configurations and I still don’t get it to work. The language that they use is confusing. And like you mentioned there is no way that I could choose the input that the devices have to switch to The television. Truly disappointed, but yet I think I will still keep it in the hopes that they will improve they use in settings. I’m glad that the experience that you have had an many orders have had have been positive. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same thing for myself.😮

I just got mine. Every "fault" you mentioned are the same I have found. If Harmony does go away, the X1 is a viable alternative. Touch screen would be a great improvement. One other thing, wakeup when you pick it up.

You have the same Anthem MRX-720 as I do. What process did you use for input selection in your activities, or do you just use the Diva for all switching? Thanks,

Definitely not the best user experience setting it up but mine seems to be working good so far. My main gripe with it so far is that there is no way that I have figured out to add the voice command button to the remote for the firestick I use and the xfinity cable box remote. I'm guessing it doesn't have a mic on it which is a bummer as I use the voice commands all the time on both those remotes to search for movies and shows. I know a lot of people complain about not having a number pad but in my opinion the voice control completely removes the need for one. I guess I'll have to keep using those two remotes which is a bummer...

I like that remote a lot. I only have a problem with the sofabaton X1 with my hdfury Diva IR code for inputsel0x, the diva remote sensor see the code from my harmony 550 but can’t see the code from the X1 hub either from the data base nor the learn one from my harmony550. Do you have that problem? I received a new receiver, the problem is with SB or HD is steel there. I send the full IR codes to sofabaton, i did not had any feedback.

5:59 I don’t have the X1 yet to test, but I doubt it’s because of the adapter. I have the Harmony Hub Elite and wanted to control my Apple TV in a cabinet using an IR blaster. I didn’t have an extra Logi mini blaster, but I had lots of 3.5 mm blasters. So, I bought several different versions of 3.5 to 2.5 adapters and none of my blasters would work with any of the adapters. Is the Logi blaster somehow proprietary to the Logi hub? I also tried several different brands and styles of blasters, but no luck.

I have the Harmony Smart control and I’m considering ‘upgrading’ to this one because I’m limited to 8 devices and it’s impossible to find the Elite or 950 which would let me control 16 devices instead at a reasonable price 😕 edit: my concern is about game consoles so this was very helpful, have they finally added them yet?

We should be understanding of some of the limitations. No other companies are trying to make a budget universal remote. It will get better over time.

I just want someone to bring Harmony back. Mine still works, thankfully. But I don't understand how the roadmap has literally been laid by Harmony and this company is still having a hard time figuring things out...

Wanted to buy it but no series x support is a no go for me. Will reconsider when they fix that Will stay with Harmony for now.

Harmony Elite is better in everyway but the Sofabaton is nice too.

LMAO. Every time you say nobody is going to take the time to do this ot that, I am that guy. I used the learning feature to get every button for my Sound Bar, I have sat and gone through the code lists to find which database has the most working codes for a few devices. Going through the code lists has gotten me access to functionality that was missing from my factory remotes. At this point I am thinking about getting a cheap learning remote so I can learn codes from the lists an then teach them to a different list.

PS5 is not and will not be supported by Harmony. So you can already see where issues are going to arise with support going forward. Also, game consoles are controlled with Bluetooth and don't have "remote codes" it takes a bit more effort to get them working, if there's even support for 3rd party remotes. Anything with Home Assistant support has home kit support, if you run Home Assistant.

The xbox series x is infact supported, however its under the brand microsoft in app instead, then for the model "Xbox Series X"

Run an Ethernet cable next time and use that to splice two ends of the IR blaster. Much cheaper and more compatible than long cables

I'm not going to buy this because it lacks the IR blaster. I think the company removed the IR blaster and added the hub to increase the overall cost. I don't like hubs. If they add the IR blaster, remove the hub and decrease the price I'll consider buying it. I just emailed the company telling them the same thing.
