The clockwork warps only softlock if you take damage on the last frame of the transition (so with consistent setups you shouldn't). I'm just bad. Dying in Chris P Bacon is dumb and my fault. Was learning a new route when that happened and hasn't happened since. The warp pad softlock is the dumbest thing in the world. Thankfully it only happens early in the run and can be avoided. All in all, Tooie is great, I'm just bad.
We haven't found an explanation yet. Our current working theory AFAIK is just that timing the cutscene overlaps in a particular way causes the game to get in a softocked state. Thankfully it doesn't happen THAT often, not that that's any consolation to a runner who loses a PB to it.
1:59 Isn't it beautiful how even though something is said in a language you can't understand, you can feel every ounce of frustration just from their voice and button mashing?
Don't know why my clip was included since it wasn't really speedrunning per se, but hey, glad people are enjoying it :) Also #2 was awesome. Didn't think that was ever possible.
8:40 - Jhon! We just murdered a little girl, we must get out of here before anybody notices! *Sneaks away* - No, Jerry! If you want to go unnoticed you must walk like you own the place, let me show you
BogleDominic1 and 7:03 that dude just has the WORST fuckin' luck. Banjo is janky AF but HolySquidShitSPLIT does that dude have terrible luck, pretty sure he didn't even do anything to make that happen...like at all. 😂
Grunty should've laughed hard if you softlock and say something like, "Oho! Looks like you softlocked! Time for me to run amuck while you stay like a schmuck!"
How and why is the Banjo Tooie guy softlocking so much? Especially the ones where he enters through an entryway? I'm sure it's from his experience but how does he know that when entering it he knows it softlocked? Is it the way he enters? Button input? It's certainly weird and I'm really curious why it happens alot in the game.
4:13 I don't think that was really a softlock because Mario was constantly going down the slope when doing the bonking, I think if he made it to the bottom of the slope he would stop the bonking and the player could play normally again without resetting the game.
