The big selling point of the SoftStart is that it allows you to operate your AC using a smaller generator. Well, that's partially true. We discovered that as you go up in elevation your generator loses amps. Living in Utah most of our camping is in the mountains rendering our SoftStart useless with our Honda 2000 generator. I did not see this information anywhere in the sales information. If you are at sea level at the beach you are great but beware if you plan to go above about 5000 ft in elevation. I talked to the company and they basically said "too bad". Their solution was to get a larger generator. Hmmm.

I appreciated the informative video you shared. Regarding the section where you mentioned connecting the two wires together and securing them with black tape, I was wondering if it might have been more practical to utilize Lever-Nuts Inline 2 Wire Splicing Connectors instead? These connectors would have likely simplified the process and provided a more secure connection not to mention a more presentable area as well.

Getting ready to install mine, but when I click on the Dometic link on the website, it says that all Dometic models are the same?? Maybe this is an upgrade or technical change to the product? Also, you didn't secure the SoftStart unit...assuming you actually did, but just didn't show it? Might help to show how you did that. Good job on the video!

Dude, you need to re-crimp your ends at the wire pinching part. It looked like you clamped down on the insulation, not the metal part that holds the wire near the spade part. You want to pinch the wire with metal not plastic.

Out door receptacles according to the National Electrical codes are 20 amp not 15 amp circuits! I will say that the soft start system works very well. I just installed the same one on m camper and I have a 2200 watt inverter generator. And it works well.
