Software Asset Management & Software Licensing are NOT the same! 

Thank you very much for your video!! Thought it was just me who found it hard to balance the two aspects. Oracle, Microsoft etc licensing is very complex and as a newbie, It's taking a while to absorb the information. 😅

Every SAM analyst must understand software compliance and software licensing. With 10 years in this space, I also push software deployments via sccm daily while sitting in multi million dollar microsoft licensing negotiations with microsoft and our resellers/vendors. Understand the difference between perpetual and subscriptions. How do VDI or O365 effect your licenses. The industry is expecting certified CSAM analysts to do more with less and if you want that six figure paycheck (I make 120k/yr) you HAVE to be on your toes and even pay for certs on your own dime.

We should think of it as if you're a full stack developer but don't know how backend dev works so similarly one should have a good knowledge of SAM as well as software licensing but ofcourse you will get a deeper understanding of difference licensing model with time so the organization should have people with more experince and less experience to complete the task in more efficien manner.

It’s like we’re on the same track. I just held a session for co-workers on the difference between SAM and Software Governance.
