SOG Aegis AT Field Knife Review

A lil late to the party though the cryogenic knife process is actually a freezing process at the manufacturing level versus a heat treatment🤙 The primary advantage of a cryogenically treated blade is that it increases the blades’ resistance to wear and tear, along with creating a superior edge retention and sharpness. Due to cryogenic freezing causing a more uniform atomic distribution in the metal itself, the process helps to eliminate microvoids/gaps and other imperfections in the metal. These weak points can cause the metal to fail after repeated hard use, as the blade will start to chip and break at these locations/microvoids. Under cryogenic treatment, these gaps/microvoids close up, with the material becoming denser. With a more uniform grain structure after cryogenic treatment, knives and blades will maintain a more consistent sharpness along with keeping their edge longer. I've got a few of the Aegis AT's and it's been an excellent EDC for me, as my preferred EDC, tactical and self defense blades(fixed blades/punch daggers) have been D2 for over 35+ years, long before all of the manufacturing treatments, and it's a hell of a steel that will take a hell of a beating. Benchmade built and still produces an Iconic collection with D2(Infidel/Mini Infidel). I laugh when I hear these kids speak of D2 as a "budget" steel as I've got D2 tactical & self defense knives/punch daggers that are older than them and still razor sharp, lolz Nice vid🤙 Continued Success🍻 RP
