This homeowner had some of the challenges I need to overcome, including the whole house generator. This is giving me some hope. Scott, when you say 5 transfer switches allow the homeowner to run everywhere, is at just inside the house (everything previously on one meter) or does it include things like power the well and any out buildings that may. Have been on additional, separate meters?

Luckily in my area I was able get permitted to do my own electrical by taking the same test the "pros" take to get a permit. Got all the answers correct except one...the head permit guy said even pros don't get that many right :) How far down into Alabama do you go? I live in LA (Lower Alabama). So what’s the Average general cost for a Grid tied system. I’m asking as I was quoted 37K for 12.9K solar 32 panel on my roof. With the 30% government kick back sending it down to $26K Is this overpriced? I’m actually nervous I haven’t committed to it yet.

Michael Morris With all due respect, his clientele has money. This job was a 12 to 13 hour road trip from their home base. With jobs like this, the client typically pays for the hotel or whatever. As it’s a separate itemized in the bill. I’ve seen some people who hired an audio/video company at their “first home” in one state. And if they did a great job, the client would hire them to do an other set up at their second/third or whatever home. Which could literally be several states away... heck, could be on a different continent.
@engineer775
@engineer775 4 года назад
We're common men building nice systems for a couple of reasons. Folks that can afford us hire us. And those that can't get inspired to build their own systems and we help them do just that. They can be small and scale up or maybe start Grid tied and then add batteries later. We also help with individual appliance projects like running well pumps, air conditioners, refrigerators, septic pumps, aerators etc etc.

@@robertsteich7362 Robert, I'm well aware that his "clientele" has money (talk about stating the obvious)... and I'm sure most of them have watched a video or two of his... for the majority of us, who watch all his video's... I've been watching since he started under a previous name... we can't afford to do this kind of stuff. I should have said "more" common man video's. Would be nice to see him do projects that can be done for less than $5,000 or maybe even better a starter system that someone can add on to for a a couple thousand every year... and show us how to start, and then grow as we can. The vast majority of us watching... simply can't do these types of projects. I'm just suggesting he make more content for his audience... rather than his "clientele"... I'm betting they don't watch his content consistently.
@michaelmorris1802
@michaelmorris1802 4 года назад
@@jycfrnkl Really, are you sure... anyone can claim to be anything on RU-vid... Yes I know he is an engineer. Not only that he is probably the best kind of engineer... a mechanical engineer... I have several of those in my family, actually. I also don't believe a Harbor Freight 100 watt kit is common man... it's for people who have no idea what they are doing. I'm suggesting he make content that people who watch can actually do, and that makes economic sense... Most people who are serious about solar can swing a $5,000 startup project and can probably add $2,000 a year to grow their system. But is has to make economic sense. That's the trick... coming up with projects that actually will pay for themselves before they wear out.
