You can add flat rocks around the lip of the pond to hide the plastic 😊

Definitely invest in mosquito fish or mosquito dunks. I have had a pond for years.

You don't need them if the water isn't still. Mosquitos won't lay eggs in moving water because wigglers won't survive in it.

I have a small pond 4 feet x 2 ft deep. I don't have any pond soil. I have rushes, pickerel, and lizard tail and mosquito fish. I got a couple of Japanese trapdoor snails because they keep the pond clean without using a filter. I love your fountain so that's next on my list. I love water features and the sound too.

Very pretty! It’s going to be a lovely destination in your space. From experience, I will say you’ll be happier without the native soil in your basket. It will gum up your pump. Rock is the way to go for certain. Your plant choices look pretty for now, but being submerged will rot them. You should hold out for bog or water lily plants. I spray painted my wires on the wall to match the color.

I love your pond!I have had a 10x5 ft pond for over 20 years now and learned a great deal along the way. I live in zone 4 Iowa and have pretty harsh winters. Mine used to have a waterfall but, every winter the ice heaving would rearrange my slate and I'd have to freeze every spring climbing in there to reset the rock to flow right. I have the farm look so, I built a pond with 4x4 posts, liner, and farm pump. I put a couple fish in it to keep mosquitoes at bay. The sound of water attracts so much wildlife. I started with various plants but, for the last 20 years, I have waterlillies in it. The flowers are beautiful and look amazing with an underwater light at night. I love your videos and look forward to seeing more of them as your garden expands.

Watching you do this gives me so much joy! I got one of those liners from Lowes last year. I placed it outside on my balcony with some aquatic plants and a pump. Best place to sit and soak my feet! Plus my cats enjoyed an outdoor drinking fountain too! I brought it in for winter and it sits in my dining room with the plants and pump. My friend called it my fancy cafe😂 Thanks for sharing a simple yet impactful feature for a garden 😊

I like it with the 1st attachment and then without any attachment . Also will you find that you need to clean your filter out a lot because of soil getting in the water from the plants being submerged? Love your shoes!

You could have covered the solar panel when changing attachments. Nice idea. Good video.

Such a sweet pond. We had a plastic 100 gallon pond for many years and enjoyed it so much. No fountain, we made a small waterfall out of rocks collected from all over. We had a couple of koi in the beginning which we loved. They are very social fish. Unfortunately, a Heron came fishing and that was the end of them. We went to Goldfish after that and added some rock ledges where they could hide. Every now and then a racoon would come. It was a lot of work during the summer, keeping the algae at bay in our Florida 10A zone. We even had a beach umbrella shading it. We filled it in a few years ago when it got to be too much but the joys far exceeded the fails. I love the small scale of this pond and you may have inspired me! Thank you for sharing.

We have had a recirculating pump buried in a pond like shape but filled with rocks and water iris( they love it!) It pours down from a large jug to a large vessel below and the water falls into rocks then up to the jug! Love it💦

Robbie. You can place flat slate around the edge/rim of the pond then moss on the slate for a more natural look. You’re going to enjoy your sweet pond, good job.

Oh cool. When we bought our home it came with a 3' wide 3' deep butterfly shaped pond. My husband built a rock waterfall that goes down into it and then we also have a filter in it and a pump to help keep it clean. My granddaughter had a goldfish in there and she loves that little fish. I've been wanting to add something like what you're doing in another part of my yard. So thanks for the info. I know where to go to get it now. I have never heard of an umbrella plant. I'm going to check into that as well.

What keeps the plants from rotting? Seems a Cala lily would rot if in water twenty four seven. Learning along with you. Thanks for sharing.

I literally just bought that same solar pump! I have never had a pond but have been having fun. I used a plastic liner and added a bunch of stones I collected from the beach to make a gradual in/out so a stray bunny or turtle can get out. I haven’t added plants yet, so I can’t wait to get to that part. Looks great!

My local nursery suggested clay kitty litter as a plant medium. So I might try that. She also said that regular garden iris work great in those pots. That is going to be my first try. And like you, I have to wait for others.

I like it! I do have River Birch trees and they drop leaves and shed beaches like crazy year round so you may want to put a screen over pond for less nasty maintenance.
