Best quote I've heard this month: "To put this in perspective, this is like buying a three bedroom home and it comes with a boat" Wonderful review, Garnock, and very fitting for this fine yacht. With big yachts, it's always first about the engines. What a fine work space in which all four of them do their work. The owner really needs nothing beyond a thorough set of skills to keep everything humming while either going down island to the south or down east to the north. One fuel bladder and Bermuda can even be in one's sights.

Omg, what a BEAUTIFUL vessel ! The amount of storage can only be truly appreciated by someone who has lived aboard a boat. The accouterments that tie the window coverings, pillows & bed linens, to things like the sinks in the heads, bellissimo ! What a comfortable home she would be. And the engine room: The engine room, which has been my domain since I was a lowly QMED, and this girls ER lea es me drooling. I'm sure the new owner is excited ! Congratulations !

Love these videos, I live vicariously through them/you. I would love to go into retirement with a boat like this as a vacation home/hobby. I have no clue whether I could handle it, or what it would entail to get the necessary training or licenses, or the costs of upkeep for such a huge boat, but am in love with the idea of it.

We can but dream 😁 I've heard insurance is a challenging one if this is your first boat. They would prefer you to start smaller and then upgrade, similar to cars and motorbikes. Weather permitting, I'm filming 2 trawlers tomorrow, 1 of which would be perfect as a 1st time boat at around 38ft.

I'm based in Jacksonville, Florida and so is this boat. I just did a quick Google search and it says 235 miles from Jamaica to Cayman Islands. This one is supposed to have a range somewhere near 800 miles. That being the case, I'd see no issues at all in making that sort of voyage 🤠

I have to be honest, I was really hesitant to watch this review because of the age of the boat, but I'm glad I did watch... A boat of this age needs to be hauled out for a complete survey, from bow to stern... The upside, for $300k you're getting a nice boat, however, IF you can afford to put another $150k-$200k into it you'll have a better boat than a newer boat priced at $500k or higher...time and $$$ is what will make this boat "perfect"... When fitted out and finished, this is the kind of boat that one motors to the Bahamas, anchors offshore for an extended period of time before moving to the next island paradise...

Considering her age, she is outstanding! And there is more opportunity for further upgrades to make her even much nicer. I like that it has a water maker! How thick is the hull? Fiberglass? I'm willing to sell my house for her. But, I would need a surveyor first.

It is a cored hull, foam core between inner and outer layers of fiberglass except for the transom which is solid fiberglass approximately 7/8" think.

couldnt help but notice the ocean 53 MY on her port side also one of the most creative designs of her time. its a shame the way all those were treated. i have never seen one that was properly maintained. they all look like rats. truly sad. nice showing of the POC. thanks

I've been fortunate to get onboard several Ocean Yachts, and you're right, they don't all receive the treatment they deserve. They are great boats when maintained well, with a great mix of offshore fishing but with comfortable accommodation onboard too.

I was told 22ft which rules her out the loop. That being said, the radar arch is on hinges. I'm not sure what the height would be if you uninstalled all that frame work on the flybridge, and then lowered the arch. My gut says she still won't clear the bridge for the loop.

Forgive my ignorance;why is the other anchor so short and use rope?

Can't say for sure for this boat, but in general there are 2 main reasons. The 2nd anchor normally has rope so that in the event of an emergency, you should be able to raise it by hand if there is no windlass. The other reason is that rope is lighter than chain, so rather than 2 heavy anchor setups, you have 1 heavy and 1 light.

That's a lot of engine for this kind of boat 3408's can output 600hp+ (440Kw) each @ 2000rpm,, but for best cruising on would probably run them at 1200 rpm, so if you don't mind the fuel guzzling @.4lb/hp/h you can ramp these engines up to 2200 rpm @ 800hp and maybe she will get up on a plane @24knts (80gal/h) and you can try some water skiing.. LoL Not quire big enough for a permanent crew of 2 for a charter, but plenty nice.... Cat ® G3408 (Industrial electric generator engine ratings: (190-)317 bkW (255-) 425 bhp @1800 rpm and 249 bkW (332 bhp) @1500 rpm {16,000h TBO)) (rebuilt @$24k+) Nice addition to your Florida Condo and Cessena 441.

I love powerful engines in cruising yachts not necessarily for speed, but if you hit strong tides or bad weather, you should be able to power through it. I was once on a 30ft sailing yacht in the Irish Sea with the engine on, and both sails up, and still technically going backwards as the tide was as strong.

It's not impossible, but both finance and insurance get more difficult the older the boat is. It's key to having a boat survey well which I believe this one will.

This is a very nice boat, but it will work someones butt off keeping it this way. I always wanted to live on a boat; until I didn't. In three years I learned what not to like. I lived on a 44' trawler in Florida, and you NEED another home. It will get small quickly. You will learn about turbos, diesel fungus, Black Water, Bottom maintenance ect. This is good for Coastal cruising; not blue water. Just saying 300K is just the beginning. Nice boat though

If I had the time and money, I'd love to see if that boat next door could be fully restored easily. I've seen old commercial fishing boats and workboats look like they are on their last legs, and be brought back up to like new in no time at all.

I appreciate your channel but this is sad. I thought maybe $100k, fine but this is Like touring a 30 year old mobile home in a trailer park. No expense spared? Samsung fridge, micro, 4 year old mattress, tacky carpet. This boat needs a 6 figure refit. $300k too much. Pride of ownership? Min. Chain should be 100 meters. 800 mile range on a boat like this is not impressive. Also it's an aft deck, not a cock pit. It could use one though. Cheers and no offence intended to you. Try again😊

Costs for so many things don't make sense to me. I plan on buying a cheap 2nd car in the next couple of weeks. What was easily under $5k a couple years back, is now more like $10k.

I noticed the boat next door was filthy disgrace, i wouldn't show this boat next to that really makes someone wonder what conditions this been through also horrible color design choices for those bedroom comforters, makes it really look old

OK, but, let’s talk safety (USCG certified 100 ton Master here). Is any prospective buyer interested in the condition of the hull? Has this vessel had a recent marine survey? 36 year old vessel with lots of time on the engines, but no comments on their condition or history ? Very unprofessional.

I look forward to watching your RU-vid videos to compare and take notes 😉 I recommend all buyers for any boat place an offer subject to sea trial, survey, and engine inspections. This yacht is no different. At face value, I didn't see anything that required urgent or immediate attention when onboard. You can clearly see this yacht has had thousands spent on her over the past few years by the owner. It's my understanding anything that was damaged or dated has since been repaired or replaced.

It's also grossly unprofessional to remove comments that bring to light the fact that this boat is 35 years old and made of fiberglass, and fiberglass tends to weaken with age. I would have never known that, had it not been for that one individual's comment stating that: a. the boat was too expensive for her age and b. The age issue with fiberglass hulls. Unfortunately, his comment, while it was a bit crudely stated, was true. *Yet it was taken down.*

Question for you; Why, in any well-regulated society, would any individual want or need more than $1,000,000 per year? Why, in any well-regulated society, would any individual want or need to live in poverty? But for the fortunate with that sort of money a boat like this is a doable proposition, and why not?
