T-90 Vladimir with respect I think you are wrong. Cars have an unlimited mechanical life but a very short economical life. It costs more to fix than a superior car costs to buy.
777jones, there are many people who cannot afford to buy a new vehicle and maintain the payments. So they rely on cheap cars like this Honda to get around.
T-90 Vladimir yea it could. I would'nt take it though. It's a Honda. Dont like them. I know they're good cars an all but i just don't like them other than 2 of them
I have a 2007 accord sedan with manual transmission. And I would never sell it or change it for a 2020 car. This guy is a criminal. I hate when i see people junking Hondas that are still running
One cylinder of the engine out of 6 cylinders of the engine it dead.Great money in saving for a mechanic person to buy it to fixes and to uses or to sell it for a small profits. Not for a normal person to buy it and hire a mechanic to fixes, because than it will cost about closed to a brand new car or a very good used one.
I'm still driving a car like this everyday. I have a 2005 Toyota Avalon with 167000 miles on it! I can't understand why people don't show their cars just a little more love. Clean it up, fix it and get another couple hundred thousand out of it!
I just bought my dad's '04 LX. 77k original miles. Rear passenger door had a dent. Body shop quoted $968. I found a door with same paint code for $174 at a scrap yard. I recycled the interior panel. Good as new for less than the cost of a deductable. The headliner is sagging, so that's next. I replaced a few interior bulbs, including the transmission indicator bulb. I found a video on how to do that. It is amazing how much money people throw away simply because they either assume a car is worn out, or they refuse simple maintenance issues.
What a shame. Such a good car. The previous owner just didn’t take care of it. Those Honda’s are such great cars!! I had a ‘99 Accord that went over 320,000 and still ran great!
The V6 could be had on the EX-L trim level, 03-07, and also in 06-07, an LX with a V6 could be had. It was a more value option at around 24k if you wanted a V6 and didn't mind cloth seats and a few other lower trim level amenities and didn't want to pay 28k or so for the EX-L.
BTC yes it does i have a neighbor with this same accord but its a 4cyl and has 315 thousand miles and the tranny was never touched. Honda was cheap and hooked up the powerful v6 to 4 cylinder transmissions so thats y they blew so much on the v6.
And yeah I worked around Acura for 14 years from 91 to 2005. Had three Legends and several other Hondas. Uncle Sam even brought a new CRX back from Guam for me in 1985. US Air Force
This Honda should definitely be saved, it is too nice and everything works. The miles isn't that bad either, you can put another 100k or more easily on that motor.
Yes, the gray key is the valet. It will start the vehicle and unlock the doors. But will not unlock the glovebox or the remote trunk release. It's got the somewhat rare factory fog lights (about a $350 accessory). The rear lip spoiler was another option available for all trims. The automatic dimming mirror with compass was optional too. The car in the video is an 03 Accord EXL V6.
Yo, you don't even know how rare it is to come across a Honda Accord of this bodystyle and generation that has factory front fog lamps, I can honestly say I don't think I ever seen one in person or knew you could even get fog lamps on this model year accord.
a Honda accord is all most next to impossible to kill lol. my nieces still ran drove after she got rear ended. radiator was destroyed air bags were deployed it still drove and ran
as a porter for a honda dealership I have moved cars that had more than one misfire and other odd problems. the way some of these people treat these cars makes me sad, they don't care what happens to their car as long as it works in the way they want it and once something breaks because of their misuse they try to get it fixed or just get rid of it even if the car is fine.
Great looking car makes no sense why someone would get rid of that car for something so minor. The misfire issue can easily be fixed for under $100.00 if you do it yourself
*Dang looks like someone just gave up on this car completely for no good reason. seems to me like a person could stab a set of needle nosed pliers in the top of that cylinder and yank the remenants of that coil pack out and just replace it with a good one and be good to go again. and 165,000 miles on one of those is NOTHING, it's just getting warmed up at that pace normally*
I have an 03 Accord 4cylinder and the entire coil boot MELTED in the cylinder head. It took us about 2 days and some lubricant spray and some FIRE to get it out. Now I hope the head is still good🤣
I had an Acura TL which is like an accord & I had nothing but problems with that car, the first week I had it the window motor goes out costs me $130+ and then the engine goes out on me after having the engine rebuilt, so I said to hell with this car, got rid of it, & now I have a 1994 Eagle Vision TSI (Dodge intrepid) & I love it, does not give me any major trouble
I know alcoholics who have scrapped perfectly running and driving vehicles to be able to buy enough beer for the weekend. Things like this dont surprise me lol
It's a shame somebody ditched that nice looking Honda☹☹☹. This car should not me the crusher has 165k miles still have some left see a well equipped EX-L model with woodgrain and leather seats might be 15 years old be good donation or somebody looking for a good reliable car like Honda these generations were pretty reliable as other generations only thing 2001-02 suffered transmission problems.
That sounds about right 2001 and 2002 Acura TL suffer the same fate with the transmission issue. I have a 97 Accord Wagon with 225 k. No problem whatsoever with the transmission. It's an automatic
I'm not big on the exterior style but really like the inside. As Scotty Kilmer says, the automatic transmissions in Hondas are weak and this one must be close to failing if that's the case.
Just make sure you change the fluid and filter quite often, and it should be okay. You’re right though, the automatics (especially with the v6) are incredibly fragile. Always stick to manual transmissions when buying an old Honda
in my country this condition cars sell as mint, and hard to afford by most people. most of them are with lesser options than this. no sunroof just basic trim cars. you people are damn lucky
With not too much work this could a good reliable car, still quite tidy after a good car valet inside and out! Would be not too expensive to repair, good wash and polish, clean inside thoroughly! Would serve it,s new owner well for many many years!!
Omg man I could really use the parts off that car for my 05 and it's the same color too I need that perfect front bumper lol and nice fog lights and I didn't know about the coil packs doing that ours has like right at the same mileage too but hasn't done that think gosh mine has almost 170 miles and everything is the exact same except the fog likes and spoiler on the truck
I have a 2009 Honda Odyssey and the radio code is in the service history book as part of the entire owners manual. So you should always find the radio code in the owners manual somewhere. "Anti-Theft" Radio.
Don't run a engine with a dead cylinder, gas is still being pumped in the cylinder not being burned causing cylinder wash going down into the oil ruining more bearings.
that car worth 1500$ as is but if you fix them problems + need a good car wash and the interior vacuumed car value will be around 2500$ or 3000$ BRO THATS A WIN
This one is worth it for you to fix the coil---you can turn around and sell it for an easy $2,500 if not more. At the very least, offer it up for sale as-is, someone will buy it.
Fix that misfire. Rig that front bumper. Try to get a code for the radio and if not just buy a head unit from Walmart and put it in. Give her a detail and list it for $3495 and have those phone calls pour in. End up selling it for $2700. Probably gave $300 for the car. Do all the work yourself and make about 2k in profit.
Some of these cars you get it really is a shame. I remember the Cavalier you got that was scrapped because it had high miles, nothing else was wrong with it. A little maintenance and upkeep will go a long way. But yah I’m pretty sure that honda is the EX with the V6, wood dash, leather, and spoiler. My next video might be on when you should REALLY scrap your car though because this is a shame.
try using 0000 for the security code for the radio, and I hate to be "that" guy but honestly replacing that coil will make that car purr like a kitten and you could sell it for more than it's scrap value.
I know people say Hondas transmissions are shit.. But my mom has a 2007 honda accord 4 cylinder with 201k original transmission and engine and not one major problem. A little paint fading, a little dent and she's had issues with the driver window going down.
I am certain your mother drives, maintains and treats it properly. These people with million mile cars could not have done that if they were like the average car owner.
its because ur mom has the k series more specifically the k24 which the transmission can handle... The j30a4 on the other hand, (respect that engine) is *WAY* too powerful for the 5 speed automatic to begin with. Ofcourse, the automatic has problems itself but most of the time, its the torquey j series that tortures it to death. I own a 03 av6 4 door with the automatic unfortunately and besides changing the tranny fluid 3x3, this tranny will never downshift when you engine brake until you are *litterally* going at crawling speed. And, i have to wait a few seconds for it to go into 1st gear or reverse. If i ever rush it, the car will stall. Same goes for starting the car then immediately puttung it in gear, it will stall. So far, it has no shifting problems but im saving up to get something else because i have a feeling this bipolar transmission will leave me stranded one day....
@@suzumr2754 I drive an 03 v6 with 193k miles I got at auction for $1300. I put about $1300 into repairs and its been a great car for the past year. But I can tell a difference in the transmisson from my moms car which is an 04 4 cyl accord with 195k. The v6 shifts are slushy and sloppy and lurches forward taking off from stop signs and the l4 shifts firm and quick. So far no problems yet because I do a tranny service every 10k miles with valvoline max life atf.
@@302diamondstate7 oh i didn't know valvoline tranny fluid works for honda automatics. I thought honda is strict about only using honda atf for the auto.
@@suzumr2754 its been fine so far and I have done the 3x3 drain and refill on both hondas and it has been about 5k miles since the final change. I have noticed the shifts being more crisp and fast
This probably came from auction. It probably went like this: Someone had trouble with it, was itching for a newer car anyway, traded it as-is, the dealership didn't want to bother fixing it either, so off to auction it went.
Sad, really. I scrapped a '03 TL. Nice when new and a great gift but the trans killed the engine. No more V6s ever.. Wife has a '05 Civic with 74k we've had since '08. Been a gem but suddenly, a check engine light and $1300 of emission repairs. Hope this is it. Ain't at 100K yet!!!
For someone who can,t spend too much to get a car, not a lot wrong with it, except replace coil pack. Still quite a tidy car, ideally replace all 6 coil packs new spark plugs and valet the car you will get YEARS out of it!
Sounds like an easy fix, Fix the engine, ABS/TCS and a couple of other things and it’ll be good to go for another 100K. You can’t kill a 7th gen Accord (if the auto tranny is in good shape, mine is an EX manual with Nav - 220K and still going strong).
Love it!!!! I would sell my Honda for scrap. Dont care what it is. Other than 2. Type R and the Acura NSX super sports car dont remember if its electric or not. The Type R is pretty cool :) it looks fun to drive and it acts fun to drive if you know what i mean. Cant explain it other than horsepower and handling.
Definitely money to be made with that car if its fixed but it might be worth more to part it out. For the radio, you have to hit a combination of buttons and it will spit out a code. You call up the Honda dealer service department, identify yourself as a dealer/repair shop and give them that code and I think the VIN and they will give you the radio unlock code for free.
Burnt coils arent uncommon, otherwise these are awesome cars. Put a coil, timing belt and tensioner in it good to go. The transmissions arent near as bad as the acura tl's.
I had an 2003 2door v6 ex. Ok car.... automatic and not the best transmission 👎....peppy motor though! I sold it at 60k miles. Electrical problems ... everyday something would drain the battery.
