@@ncard00 Not really, considering my aunt in her forties got a surprise when she found out she was pregnant. She already had a twenty year old son and twenty two year old daughter at the time.
She's 9 yrs old and he's 23 yrs old born from same parents. With that huge gap he's like third parent which is very sweet. Most siblings with similiar ages have sibling rivalry lol
Even just being in third grade and around 9 years old this young lady has surrendered more then some of us will never know she loves her older brother more then words cannot express and she has been without him because he’s serving our nation !! Thank You young man for your service and young lady,Thank you for caring and loving him so much I’m almost positive that’s a driving force in his life is to protect you !!

There's a big age gap between the two of them so the brother is probably a bit like an extra parent, and his conversation would be more sophisticated than a sibling of a similar age.
@John.bww03 kids with significanlltly older siblings and sometimes only children who interact a lot with adults tend to be more articulate/mature than other children the same age
I only hope the reason she speaks so well isn't due to forced speech therapy sessions like I had in pre-school and elementary school. Also, she is a very strong and brave girl to accept that her big brother isn't around as much as she would like and sometimes needs.

It never fails. I watch these surprise reunion videos and tear up each and every time. I echo the same sentiments I see from many other commenters: She is very mature and well-spoken for a 3rd grader, the girl in the black top near the door apparently cries the entire time, and welcome home to her big brother. I thank you for your service.
He is so much older than her, so he is probably somewhat of a father figure to her as well as a brother. My sister is 2yrs older and we didn't get along very well as kids, so my reaction would probably be "Why are you here? Should you be in Afghanistan" lol

Mate, I’m British and I think you guys and our guys are heroes. You may be doing what you volunteered for, but you are doing something I could never do. And thanks to you, your colleagues and those who came before you, I can tuck my kids in safe at night.
