Hi Greg. I’ve recently organised with Solid GPS to sell their products too. I did a lot of research before committing and it’s an excellent product and Aussie made. Bonus! Great product great people.
We are just about to look into purchasing a campervan and came across this unit on Facebook of all places and to be honest if it's on FB how good could it be? I sent a few questions off to solid and within a couple hrs had my reply to all my questions 👍. Your RU-vid video was straight to the point and so easy to understand that I will probably purchase one when we sign the papers, for the mean time I could play with it in the other cars to familiarise myself. I would play around with maybe glueing some earth magnets to the case so I could mount it onto a metal surface, hopefully it wouldn't interfere with reception. Thanks again
Glad it was helpful Steve! Yes Solid GPS' customer support is very prompt! Good idea to get it ahead of time and have a play around with it, if you use my coupon you get two and a half months before your tracking fee kicks in, which gives plenty of time to work out the best configuration. So don't forget to add that in in checkout! I'm not sure if the magnets would interfere with the reception, probably not, but best to check with them. Which size tracker do you think you'll go with? Good luck!
@@TheMusingGreg I'll prob go with the cheaper one, I'm sure I can set a reminder every few months to recharge it if needed. I will certainly use your name when purchasing.
Good job, yeah I went with the standard one, 4-5 months is good enough battery life for me only using my van every few weeks or so. A bigger battery might make sense in a vehicle that's travelling every day. Yep don't miss out on that free tracking! 👍
Fantastic review, I agree with many of the comments ypu made regarding the dashboard tracking... like many car owners my interest is in the event the car is stolen I need ro have instant updates to see where the car is to take prompt action. I will consider the product and hope the owners can improve on the dashboard features
Thank you so much for your feedback, I really appreciate it! Yes hopefully they'll make those changes and make it an even better product! I'd really appreciate it if you could take a moment to share the video on your social media - your personal recommendation is the most effective way of helping more people see it, which in turn helps me recoup my production costs. Cheers!
The best critiqued and decisive review I have ever listened to: Hat’s off to you! I’m 64 and have listened to thousands. No wandering paragraphs of flotsam. Your suggestions were all spot on and so compact. As for the jiffy case, Yep it’s a home brew, but heh I’ll be mounting mine inside another plastic container that no one will suspect and that is the key, along with it seeing the sky or as close as you can. What is not sure is can the designers update the app to in turn download an updated firmware to the box if required? Maybe many of the issues you highlighted require a firmware update and have not been addressed because its not updatable! PS: Went to buy a unit. No Paypal or Bank transfers when you come to pay and as you are signing up for a year? Is it just renewed? We know how hard it can be to cancel a payment! I’ll call them instead, but a sale was not made today because of that, thanks Tony
Hi Tony thanks for your insightful comments and I'm glad to hear you found the review so useful! Given the device is always connected to the internet and communicating with their servers, I would be very surprised if they don't have the capacity to do an over the air firmware upgrade, however I can't be certain on that. As to the subscription, I've had the device for about 9 months so far so I haven't needed to renew a subscription yet, however I did have the SMS notifications enabled for a few months while I was preparing this review and cancelled it once I was done and had no problems doing that; so in my limited experience I feel you'll be ok. Hope you get something sorted over the phone, and don't forget to make sure you use that coupon code and get yourself some free tracking! 😁

Splendid thanks so much for your feedback, I really appreciate it! Please take a moment to share the video on your social media - your personal recommendation is worth a thousand attempts on my part to promote it through advertising!
Yeah I agree mate, for me it's not quite a dealbreaker given the good price and battery life, and I don't usually need it for my caravan; but there are definitely times I'd prefer it to be 15 seconds or something.
Thanks for the video. If I turned on watch dog mode when parked, do I need to turn off before driving out? Otherwise, it will sent notification the tracker has left the boundary. I only want to use this for security purposes.
Hi mate, thanks for the comment. It completely depends what you want it to do. When you exit the ~50m boundary, watchdog mode will: 1) turn itself off, 2) turn on Emergency Mode and 3) send you a notification via app and email (and SMS if enabled). If you want to receive an alert whenever the vehicle leaves that boundary, then you would need to turn watchdog mode on; however if you ONLY want to receive an alert if you're not driving it when it leaves the boundary, then yes you would need to manually turn watchdog mode off before you drive the vehicle away. Let me know if you need any other clarification.
@@TheMusingGreg That’s the first place a thief would look. Needs to be able to be buried in the body of a bike so it can’t be removed without stripping at least some covers.
@@paddydivers3136 Yeah look I guess you could remove the seat and attach it under there. It could also go inside a sealed plastic bag. I agree having it weatherproof would be better, but this might be a workaround.
Honest answers are all I give on my channel mate! 😉 I don't think there's a hurry, I'm not aware the coupon ever expires so as far as I'm concerned take your time. The only factor could be if Solid GPS decides to turn it off for some reason. I hope that never happens, but that's not in my control if it does.
