Because the input channel count is higher than 2 and 2+ a Monitor Mix knob would be too limited/restricted in its control. You can do monitor mix functions and much more from the powerful SSL 12 Mixer.
Brilliant. I wish SSL made their own DAW. I know what you're thinking - how could they possibly catch up with other companies on plugin development? :) And what would they know about DAW compatibility with recording consoles and remote control surfaces? :) And who would be willing to trust them to provide a real customer focused pro level alternative to Pro Tools and Logic (when neither Apple nor Avid is setting the world on fire)? :) Answer - everything - and everybody. Their future would then be what Blackmagic Design's future is with video (if they would only adopt ST2110) - to sell music hardware from entry level to the highest pro standard - with their own trusted world class software tools and technology at the centre of it. If you do it SSL - can you please make it a world class scoring (music notation) environment built in? So people don't have to shuffle back and forward to add a more obscure music marking - or to do sophisticated DAW level audio editing? These things aren't separate worlds. The Hollywood equivalent composer still doesn't have an app that can enable them to do it all. Davinci Resolve - as wonderful as it is and is going to be - will never be that app.
Glad you've included the USB DRIVERS AS SEPARATE DOWNLOADS. Can I THEREFORE get away without using the 360 app AT ALL? I'm a blind user and I doubt very much that it's been accessibly designed.
Just wondering: which of the inputs on the backside do the inputs on the front override? Does "Inst 1" override input 1 on the back or does it override the opposite input 4? Or could you setup your preference with the 360 software?
look really good, if i had extra cash i would buy it, right now using the MOTU 624, good soundcard but they lowering of bass frequencies i dont like, if only you could record synthes without lowering the bass with it would have been great, maybe ill use two soundcards whenever they will fit
I have the SSL12 but everytime that I shutdown and turn on my Mac, the soud that comes from the interface is distorted, like a crackling or popping sounds, it happens only when I shutdown my computer completely, after a couple of minutes, it starts to sound normal. Anyone with the same issue? SSL sent me another unit and it has the same issue, also I tested on different Macs with no success.
I just installed my SSL 12 and everything was running smoothly at 32bit 192KHz but after opening SSL 360, it prompted a firmware update, which I did, and immediately after that it started glitching even without audio playing. Nothing seems to work anywhere and there's no way to revert the firmware or drivers. I even clean installed Windows to see if that was the issue and it persist =( What can I do?
Since there is no monitor-mix knob anymore, how do you exactly blend the mix with a new vocal track that you are recording? What exact feature on the 360 mixer does this?
Silly question I’m sure but…while recording a track in a song through my daw….how can raise the level on the track I’m recording to be louder than the entire song so that no may hear myself a little better? I’d like to do this with the SSL 12 rather than my daw.
Hey from Dublin. If I want to connect my Ampeg SGT DI Box to my SSL12, should I connect my Direct line out cable from my DI Box into the Inst 1 or Inst 2 slot on the front of the SSL12 OR should I connect it into one of XLR slots at the rear of the SSL12? Cheers. Niall
Is it possible to work with it in Logic Pro? Logic Pro works with 24Bit Recording But this piece works just with 32bit Or can we put the Bit Rate to 24bit on the ssl Audiointerface? Thx
Hi thanks for the video. in the 360 software can I route a reverb or compressor back to the 12 interface? If i am going to record vocals i like a little reverb and compression.
Can anyone help me with why my Dell g7 laptop can't recognize it as connected at all? 360 app says no devices connected and it doesn't show up in control panel, and driver's don't Install into device manager. When I manually install in device manager I get code 10 and cannot make it work or be recognized by my computer. Any thoughts? Is it a broken device?
Please SSL ... now just SSL8 with 8 IN (4 Line / 4 Preamp'able) and 8 Out (2 Mon, a two Stereo Pairs for external processors and two for CV to synths and other stuff)
Hello from Dublin, I hope you are well I hooked up my Bass Guitar to my new SSL12 today and connected it to my DAW (pro tools artist) and monitored it via Headphones. Unusually, while the Bass tone sounded really great on my headphones prior to hitting “record” on my DAW, once I actually started recording, the Bass Tone changed significantly and emanated a very “hollow” sounding tone. Even more unusually, I went ahead and recorded anyway, and during subsequent playback, the tone sounded great again, exactly as it did prior to the recording. So I’m wondering, why does the great SSL12 tone that I’m hearing in my headphones reduce in quality, once I engage the record switch on my DAW?
That sounds like it's phasing because your original signal is still being heard alongside your monitored version. Check out part 2 of this video for a demo on how to record.
Just got mine last week and it sounds amazing. But not at least offering a discount on your channel strip is pretty stingy. The "Production Pack software bundle" it comes with is a joke.
@@kadiummusic I dunno. It really does sound amazing, but the bundle is essentially freeware. All good though - I'm happy with the Plugin Alliance SSL 4K G and Rocksolid Audio Micro 4K.
