i've seen these setups in other systems but never quite understood how they worked. this video helps it make a lot of sense. thanks for the explanation.
Thanks for the video, I tried the horisontal SLO. my tub is 160x110 x 40cm(height), about 500 liters. I use 2" pipe SLO. The flow works, but the flow rate return with balance is only 70 liter per hour. Definitely not enough for fish farming. The filter is located at the same height as the tub. Any suggestion to get higher flow rate?
Great explanation! Curious about what mechanical filters are best used for the VERTICAL SLO. In some designs, I have seen that goes straight into a radial flow filter (from the bottom), but I am curious how can it be used for a Swirl filter
Thank you. this was straightforward. I'm thinking of designing a biofilter. Just wondering if I can do this SLO and then add simple solute filter( maybe a shade net) then some finer material under the shade net filter followed by some bioballs for microbial surface area in the filter tank? Also wondering if I should include an air pump in both the fish tank and biofilter?
Ngwako Sekhula air stones in fish tank and bio filter definitely. Trying to visualize what you mean with the shade net. As long as you collect particles before bio filter it should work fine
@@NewAgrarian thanks, the shade net will work like a sieve to the 1st large particles the maybe followed by a filter mat for finer particle. Will definitely put air stones in both👌
Great visuals! Thanks for sharing. Just some questions though. Is SLO still needed if there's a pump sucking the water/debris from the pond going to the filtration system? Or can SLO and pump be installed at the same time? Appreciate your recommendation. Thank you very much
I have a 1 feet tall fish container but 3 feet tall mechanical filter if I use the horizontal SLO I believe in the fish container, the input hole into the mechanical filter need the same height if not lower right ?
@@NewAgrarian Can the horizontal SLO be the taller than the tank so that i don't have to drill into my aquarium glass? I'm wondering whether going above the tank height will be an issue. Thoughts?
