Mostly, it is not practical to use cad geometries of connector such as pins, bolts, springs and bearings in Finite Element Analysis. SOLIDWORKS Simulation allows engineers to vistually define these connectors instead. Morever, You can calculate strength of connectors such as pin and bolt.
In this video you will see how to define virtual pin and check strength in SOLIDWORKS Simulation .

How do you determine what tensile stress area to use for the pin's strength data?

It is the minimum sectional area of the pin.

Hi. I am having trouble running the simulation. Whenever I try to "Show" the Pin/Bolt Check Plot it will not show and crash instead and when I click the solidworks any random area it will say "SOLIDWORKS is busy running a command". Can you please help me with this? Hope to hear from you soon.

Need further information to go deeper. However, what I understand from your comment is that you might define pins on beam mesh or there may be insufficient definition. Another possible reason might be graphic driver. For Further investigation, we need more detail.

@@NonCADKeys when I was generating report the process will also stuck. It will stop at 50% at connector definition.

@@NonCADKeys how will I know this? The first time it happened was I was just running the file you uploaded, it did run the simulation but it will crash when I want to see the pin/bolt check plot or when generating report.

Can you try to create a new study with same definitions? If you still have same issue. Share the steps you followed if possible
