Hi Alice. I got your camping essential that I think you will love. Contact me where I can bring it if you are still in Southern Utah or send it if you are not. Happy camping!!
In many cases, Alice; fear is an overwhelming emotion that is very hard for many people to face, and to come to grips with. The feeling will be there when needed, but when anticipation of something bad happening, gets the better of these people, their fear is of fear itself. Glad to see you overcame that. You go girl!
Congrats on your first solo Alice! I started backpacking solo in college because I wasn’t going to let unreliable hiking partners keep me out of the Sierra. It’s weird at first but when you realize you are never alone in nature and immersing yourself in it alone occasionally gives you a whole new perspective. Plus you have your cuddle buddies! I still do it often in my sixties. It’s my me time. A good 4 legged camping and hiking buddy makes a great partner. Be safe!
Ape Man That’s awesome! If I didn’t travel so much I would have my own 4 legged friend to bring along. Although they usually take up too much of the tent lol
@@AliceFordAdventures I went on a mission trip in Honduras and this was a life saver at night. The leader of our team gave me this tip. Glad I found your channel.
For my Birthday I just purchased a 2021 Silverado crew cab 4x4 because I'm going to start adventuring as you have in your video. From my home in Southern California I very much look forward to camping options that are at most a days drive away. Much thanks for sharing your beautiful adventure and smile.
Well what a brave girl you are , im british and I too went hiking alone in the red cliffs area just outside st george utah in july 2019, I hike the local trails and cycle from st george to snow canyon, but I remember hiking on the chuckwalla trails and as beautiful as it is it can be very scary , I constantly had the thought I was going to come face to face with a big cat lol.. the locals told me it would be very rare but guess what only 6 weeks after I got bk to england one was spotted at the back of a supermarket 2 miles away , but it's a beautiful place and I will return one day... thanks for sharing stay safe ✌🇬🇧🇺🇲
Went camping in Moab, Utah a few times. We slept on the sand in sleeping bags with no tents. It was quiet and peaceful, until some cows woke us up in the morning.
Thanks for sharing. Beautiful area. I like to car camp from time to time, setting a basecamp for day hikes instead of going backpacking multi-days. There is nothing wrong about going camping solo, it builds strength, confidence and self- reliability, a sort of meditation. You are doing great and keep on hiking. 🇨🇦
Backpacking brought me to your channel but I should have known you were a Jeeper. Nice jk. Very cool to see you doing some overlanding/ car camping adventures along with your hikes and living the Jeep lifestyle. Photography,camping,hiking,travel,offroading....that's what it's all about! Thanks for the great content. See you on the trail or on the highway. ✌ #JeepLife
Hey! It was great to see your interview on Bob's AdVanture! Great video! That sunset was beautiful! Hope you enjoyed those snacks! Wow, it was still 95 at 11:30... I'd have a hard time sleeping too...lol! That trail looked amazing! I would love to go hiking there! Great drone footage... beautiful! Great 1st solo trip! Awesome video! Can't wait to see more! 😊❤️
I want to do this. Looks amazing. I love Utah. I hiked up to the flatiron of Superstition Mtn outside Phoenix 2 days ago. Was great. This looks even better.
I loved the video! You combine beautiful footage with down-to-earth commentary in a wonderfully real way. We feel like we're out hiking a good friend. You're humble and honest about yourself and your experiences and that's what makes them shine so well. Even something as simple as washing your face and eating chips, looking at birds nesting in the rock while dipping your feet in a river are good reminders of why we like to backpack. I'm super envious that I don't live near Utah. I've seen some other videos from backpackers who live in that area and it's such a different experience from the Northeast (which is also beautiful but full of rocks and backbreaking elevation!). I'm glad your first solo trip was so meaningful. Spending time alone in the wilderness is a great way to discover yourself as you truly are! My greatest backpacking essential is a cup of Earl Grey tea at the end of the day! Thanks for a great little video trip. I'm looking forward to going along on more adventures!
Mark. Thank you so much for your kindness, I truly love the splendor and simplicity of nature and am so glad I am able to showcase it in a powerful and humble way. Thanks for watching. You should start planning a roadtrip to Utah for the fall.
i live right on the other side of the river from babylon arch and there is so much to see in this area. iv been here almost 4 years and i do alot of off roading and its almost endless.
You could buy a military insect bar from ebay or a surplus store, $10-20 its big enough to fit over a cot, keeps the bugs out, but would help with ventilation and keeping cooler than being inside a tent with no breeze. If threat of rain was a worry, tie a rain fly over it. Maybe just hang a jacket over the license plate next time. I like the drone footage, its really a rugged area.
@@AliceFordAdventures Get a used one from Ebay, amazon, sportsmans guide, they are light weight, cheap and could save your life or prevent a trip to the ER. $10-20 .
I finally camped alone last year for the first time, overcame my fear of it, and that trip ended up being what got me started making travel/hiking/camping videos too
WOW don't you feel like you just own every part of that spot?! Haha you have the whole place to yourself!! Amazing. Also the red cliffs are just beautiful. Really wish I will have the chance to visit in the future
Yes! I sure felt like I owned the place, I thought there would be others there when I decided on it, but was happily surprised to have the whole place to myself.
This is amazing Alice! Thanks for the location. I've just submitted a request for permit to camp here in in the next few weeks. It's going to be a great time!
Beautiful camera and drone footage. Utah is an absolute gem. A geological marvel. There are no critters to fear. Humans pose the only real hazards, as usual. Be well. Love your work.
@@AliceFordAdventures Just be vigilant and prepared. Consider every and any EXIGENCY. In this day and age, we are all mostly being observed at many points in our lives. Unfortunately, this is reality. Try to think in terms of chess: two or three moves ahead. Always have at your disposal items with which to DEFEND. Practice self defense moves and perhaps consider a firearm, if you haven't already. I'm former law enforcement and own several weapons that I'm intimately familiar with. Be well. Don't be afraid...be ready...stay calm...be proactive. Enjoy our world, despite its potential dangers; 95% of which will involve our fellow travelers.
Just discovered your channel and I love it! My wife and I went to Red Cliffs on our trip out west a few years ago and it’s so beautiful. Would also like to add that I love your style. I like it when folks talk a lot during their videos and provide lots of info. It really makes you feel like you are going along the journey with them. Thanks!
Sleep on top of and under a wet towel when it's hot. Remove the rain fly, it rarely rains around here. BTW, camp site was a mere mile and a half from my home. I can see it from my bedroom window.
Alice, if you are still in the Western part of Southern Utah, I think you will love this essential item for the camper that I plan to order for ya. I will need to know what your favorite color is since this item comes in various colors. It will take a couple of days.
@@AliceFordAdventures Latest update. The surprise I ordered will arrive this Friday. Are you still in Utah? Where can I send it or deliver it if you are still in Utah. I'm in Cedar City, Utah just north of St. George.
You were very lucky to get clouds. They only happen about 30-50 days a year here. I call car camping, luxury camping because "not my back" brings my gear👍
I just found this video, now I am watching Teocalli. I love these two videos. Your narration is fantastic, and you do an excellent job of showing the scenery as you explore. I feel like I am experiencing what you are experiencing. I watch many over landing channels and I become frustrated by the lack of scenery, and the emphasis on showing 4x4’s going over obstacles and through water. Please keep this formula, and make more videos! 🙂
i dont recomend solo camping or hiking or even 4 wheeling in utah, but congrats on being independent . thank you for shedding light on conservation and not being wasteful. get a big dog !
BREATHTAKING BEAUTY COLORS VIEWS SCENERY VIDEO WEATHER FOOTAGE LANDSCAPE 👌 SUNSET WAS AWESOME GORGEOUS COLORS & CLOUDS ! BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! THE WATER / STREAM / RIVER WAS SO REFRESHING LOOKING & CLEAR . GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS ON YOUR JOURNEYS ! ENJOYED !
I pack a bedroll and trekking tarp / trekking poles. No need for a tent. I have done a lot of nights out that way, and out on solo kayaking trips on Lk Powell.
Thanks for posting. Red Cliffs Rec Area was on my list for visiting this past spring. Had to postpone because of Covid, but am hoping to get there this fall.
Love your Jeep We love St George, going in May! I am going to road bike and mountain bike with grandsons! 61 YO and trying to stay in shape and enjoy beautiful places!
Real nice video, Alice. When I travel out there later in the spring to Yellowstone, I've made a note to check this place out if possible. I have an SUV, but it isn't 4-wheel drive. I'll check out more of your videos. I like your bubbly attitude towards your hiking experience here. I like that. Kudos for this one. Sincerely, DMC
Great job Alice! That was a gorgeous area and the night sky was awesome. Glad you took some bear buddies along with you. Hope to see you on the trail someday. Keep having fun!
I think the closest I've come to a solo camping trip was arriving at the Grand Canyon at about 2 AM and I tried to get a few hours sleep before doing a rim to rim hike last fall. It was so cold on the north rim despite being the mid-October and I got no sleep before starting my hike at 7 AM. I don't think I've ever solo camped in a tent before. I think I'd be too distracted by things that my imagination conjures up at night. I admire your guts in doing it.
Winter is my favorite time to visit as well. I did Zion and the Narrows in March a few years back and really enjoyed the fewer crowds. I’m glad your kids had fun
Love Babylon arch area, one of many places here in southern Utah I love. Just an FYI drones are illegal in red cliffs conservation area. I just don’t want you to get a ticket, I think they should be allowed but they aren’t.
Very cool! Looks a lot like Moab Utah where I owned some land for a while, worked, and hiked quite a lot. I remember while living there the color of the rocks, arches, and cliffs were constantly changing just by the way the light was during various times of the day and weather conditions.
Great video. I need to go there. Has everyone here seen "127 hours" with James Franco? Being a lone adventurist, that movie has kept me from taking a few, unnecessary chances, when out on my own. Looks like you could use one of those DSLR, quick release, gadgets that hangs your camera on your backpack strap like Josh, from California through my lense, uses .
pappys productions I’ve seen 127 hours, I’m pretty cautious and almost always am alone so I’ve got quite a lot of experience. I’ve looked at those quick releases before, I shoot on so many cameras and gimbals I’ve never gotten one but maybe I’ll take a second look.
I mounted a few motion detector LED lights on my Montana that work great when being in isolated areas....i have a video on them if might be interested......playlist 2004 Pontiac Montana......they are pretty cool.....something walks into camp u can identify....✌
Alice Ford these lights work like a trip wire! Slarr Premium aluminum solar LEDs, i have one mounted on each side of my Montana, they have remote control so u can over ride the motion detect from inside, i see amazon has them for $79.....i think i paid $69 a year ago, a lot of times if i am remote camping like on your video i will set a tent up as a decoy....then crash in my 2004 Pontiac Montana.....i have it customized inside....very comfortable, but, late at night when it's black as space i like they will pop on...usually its a raccoon or skunk.....but i want to know what is out there....heck...i might even get film of it😃 ......like i mentioned i have a video posted about the lights if u want to see how they work, be safe out there...i'm finding the country has changed a little bit, i'm careful passing through areas.....lots of tribes have formed.....some are very angry....
Please find one article or case of someone being assaulted while dispersed camping. It never happens and its amazing how much of a trend of fear exists among female solo campers, its all fed by each other. You're so much more likely to have someone break right into your house in the city or assault you in a parking lot or street in the city
quite beautiful place . love so much . the place like this it's dream for us . we don't have this kind weather in iceland . most of the year we don't have sun or warm weather . all rain cold wind blowing
@@AliceFordAdventures I was a truck driver for ten years I am about to do a mini van build just placed the parts order when you replied lol. I have lots of reccomendations everywhere feel free to ask whenever
After hiking alone for many years, I came to realize, that it's not nature I need to fear. Snub nosed 38, Under Taker Bowie, small belt knife, adds protection, against those things that might try to harm you. You might not like it, but, 1 time when you need it, and don't have it, can save you alot of trouble down the road. Scottishxpride, Tx.
@@AliceFordAdventures you know, Alice, I just realized that a drone can be a survival tool. They say that if you get lost you should try to get to an elevated position to see your surroundings. Well, if you have a drone, you don't have to go anywhere :) You've never had to use it for that, have you?
