Well done finishing the van. One thing i would say if you are out out in a storm is park well away from trees just in case one comes down. I once saw a near miss a few years ago a tree came down next to a camper or if a fallen tree blocks the exit you won't get out.
I went for a walk during this storm in Cleveleys near Blackpool. The wind and lightning was wild. You were higher up so it must of been worse Becca. Stay safe in them conditions. Looking forward to more of your travels 👍👍
@@myvanworld yeah I'm down there so will do. There's plenty of meets and festivals to do most advertised on fb etc. Smaller ones can be beneficial for meeting new friends and getting tips/advise to help on the way. It all depends on which area you are at and when lol. Take care
"why didn't I do this before" has been said by everyone once they try vanlife, sleeping is not easy at the beginning, moving van, noises and fear of being attacked in your sleep keep us all awake , but after the first couple of nights you get used to the sounds and it all gets easy. You will love it. Xx
It heightens the senses, being in the van and being much closer to nature, that's what makes it so stimulating. Try to avoid dogging spots though, it's the wrong kind of simulation. 😮😅👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed the first night out, you can now think its been all worth it, even if you still have some finishing to do. Great vid mate! So happy to see you’re out and about in the van. I’m in Scotland for a month exploring now, waiting for the snow next week. I’ve never bothered with wheel choks, I just sleep diagonally on my bed and put my head at the highest corner 😂.

It is a steep learning curve. You are really using far to many resources, like 3 burners for a simple brekki, and a shower first morning. You will learn to conserve. Now that said, seems you are really enjoying the start, I wish you all good times.

It's so good to see you enjoying your return to health after such a difficult time. Make a sign to stick on your steering wheel to remind you that you've used your leveling ramps. I made one after leaving mine behind on Shetland..... on Orkney...... in Ullapool..... and in Yorkshire..... I should have done it after the first time but you think that you won't be stupid enough to do it again. At least I haven't left my wife or one of the dogs behind..... Yet.

@@stevie007 hehe. I still remember the first time I heard them. At uni in London. Summer time. On a rooftop with a few friends. Two lads started playing pink floyd on their guitars… and I’ve been hooked ever since. Later found out it was one of my dads favourite bands & have enjoyed listening to them together for years now. Just gutted I wasn’t around to see them live!

There is a van meet for self build campers just like yours with a good few vans there at a camp site called Willowfields which is in Doncaster. The meet is in April by which time you will be an old had at this life lol. There is a website where you can see the site and also book ( needed) and pay for the weekend. Its a great site and a great meet up and perfect for you. The advice you will receive is priceless. Hope you can make it. Cheers Kev

if ever a video represented a frame of mind then this one shouts "Seize the moment' Tell you the truth Becca, I've had Viv 3 years-two of which she wasnt converted and this year ripped out everything my dodgy converter put in and redone it. I wish i'd had a "Becca's Dad" on callout lol. I have a beautiful blanket done by my friend Sue who lives it Sydney Australia and it bears the legend "living the dream" This year I fully intend to. I hope you settle in your van ( I'm certain you will) and that the joy you feel just gets better and better. After what horrors life threw at you, you absolutely deserve it. @@myvanworld one day our paths will cross for sure. I've know Sue for 15 years. We have never met. Along with the blanket she sent me a fluffy west highland cow from temu. She bought two and called them Clara and Cylde and took them on a two month van trek round the Aussie outback. Then she sent Clara to me as a good luck mascot for Viv. We have vowed that if it takes me going to Aus, or Sue coming over here, our Aussie McMoo Moos will be reunited. Keep living the dream and never loose that joy 🖖 Much respect- Kenny
