Love T&T, lived there for 2 years, stayed in Sangre Grande. Had terrible experiences twice riding T&T Spirit to Tobago from Port of Spain due to severe sea sickness.After that my subsequent visits to Tobago were by air which takes about 15 minute. Try going to Toco where yo can see the Island of Tobago using binoculars on clear and sunny day. You can also get a place where you can see the shores of South American sub-continent specifically Venezuela. Just ask the locals and they can help you get to these amazing locations. Venezuela is just 7 miles across the sea from T&T.

African Tigress, welcome to the beautiful Twin Island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. You can get URO currency at the commercial banks between the hours of 8am and 2pm. There are two mobile phone carriers in our country Bmobile and Digicel both of which close to the public between the hours of 4 and 5pm. The Mall branches will open until 7pm for mobile services. It is common in our country to address as baby as a mark of flattery.

You cannot get Euros exchanged at just any place, you have to go to the Bank. Only US is taken like that but not all places take US either, always go to the Bank.

That is how most Trini folks are, friendly and helpful, people tend to put all my brethen and sistern in a bad light but there are really good people in sweet Trinidad. Glad to see it highlighted so the world can see. With the good comes the bad, just like all over the world!

Yes good to see but the surrounding islands, for instance Grenada sounds a lot safer, and they have lots of good too. I see so many people saying to be careful that I am curious what it feels like to live there. No one has to say that for someone traveling to let’s say Grenada.

@@ellesf1606Trini’s tend to exaggerate. There is crime. Just like any big city. But most of it. Is drugs and gang related. And some random incidents. Just like all over the world. What we don’t do. Is put it in context . So we just say be careful. Especially when we have visitors visiting. We don’t want them to get caught up in the petty crime. Like robbing them of their belongings. I got rob in NY. I live in Philadelphia now. And the crime rate is out of control. Just like how u would tell a visitor be cautious in certain areas over here. Is the same way Trini’s do in Trinidad. You cannot compare Grenada to Trinidad. It’s much smaller. We have people from every walks of life. Calling Trinidad home. And we also have tourists that visit. Without incidents. Thousands visit every year for carnival . Incident free!

Her host was definitely not a superhost who coud have provided safety tips and other useful info. AT ... please do more research before you travel and be safe. Trinidad and Tobago are amazing destinations but travel smart especially as a solo female traveller.

St. Joseph situated in the east, was the first capital of Tinidad. It was burnt in the 1800s. Port of Spain then became the capital. It was originally known as Puerta De España. Hence in St. Joseph's streets have the same name as Port of Spain. The capital of Tobago is Scarborough.

In Trinidad go to the Bank or ask taxi driver to change money, can do so at Piarco Airport but not all Airports in the Caribbean do that. You better not go in Charlotte St nor those side streets with that Camera.

African Tigeress by now you may have gotten your Debit card since your video was posted 5 days after the actual date recorded. Just a point to note :Port of Spain, San Fernando and Chaguanas can be regarded as the main Cities in Trinidad. There also exist many Towns like Arima, Sangre Grande, St James (which is close by to you), etc where you can check out on your Journey.

Thank u. For pointing out places of interest. And not like some Trini’s. Who only advise is how dangerous the country is. It’s always good to inform about crime. Especially if you are a visitor. Every country this lady visit. Have areas where it’s a lil more dangerous. And I am sure. She knows that. I live in the US. And have to look over my shoulders. Because it’s has become so dangerous. In some cities. Let this woman enjoy her visit. Encourage her to visit places of interest.

There are many more but most born in the US but have both Trinidadian parents like Nia Long, Alphonso Ribeiro, Romany Malco, Jackee Harry - Trinidadian mother, Tatyana Ali, Trinidadian father, Winston Duke in Black Panther actually born in Tobago. There are still more but each Caribbean island has some of that it seems. Celebrities with Caribbean roots.

Do Ariapita Ave. especially at night. Friday , Saturday night. Trinidad is like any other country. Just use common sense. Because you are in a strange country. Lots of people visit Trinidad. You don’t hear about incidents. It have people that have a criminal mindset. So be vigilant! Have fun. Visit some of the malls. Movietowne. Go to Upick it farm in chaguramas for lunch or breakfast. The pitch lake, zip lining in chaguramas, blue basin waterfall, Asa Wright nature centre, five Islands water park, food Square on Tragerette Rd, The Port in Couva, Woodbrook yard, carenage fish fry. Grande food hub. Foodarama, all these are outdoor street food hubs. La Vagie lookout, art galleries on Ariapita Ave. a trip down Nelson Island. South Park mall, there is lots to see and do. Then Tobago!

Inspite of the setbacks and inconveniences you experienced by not having your bank card, you remained cheerful to be with. I've been away from T& for many years and although some parts are almost unrecognizable, I'm enjoying your detailed videos of Port-of-Spain and its landmarks, because I never have time to walkabout when I do visit. Most of all the lush green backdrop of the Northern Range gives me LIFE!!. I'll admit, i was disappointed that your friend didn't take you for doubles when he picked you from the airport, but I'm glad to see you finally got to enjoy it. You said you love water, so please ask your friend to take you to Macqueripe. It is the BEST beach on the north coast that is easily accessible. in de meantime...Walk Good!!

Trinidad is often overlooked when it comes to tourism. However, it has so so much history and interesting things to see such as the unique architecture influenced by many European styles, the beautiful landscape, fascinating people who literally have origins from every part of the world. AT I hope you explore every corner of that unique island.

Trinidad food is the best!! Other islands food are very similar though. I know I have heard that Trinidad has some danger but that’s crazy how people are saying to be careful. Grenada would have been safer and nice for Christmas!!
