Solo Hiking 130 Kilometres - Cape to Cape Trail, Western Australia

Solo hiking the Cape to Cape Trail is something that I'd been eyeing off since I first got into hiking so I decided to finally tick it off the bucket list. The trail is ~130 kilometres long and runs from Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin in the South West corner of Western Australia. With many options to stay for accommodation along the track, I opted to camp for four nights and have one night in an Airbnb Gnarabup to recharge my camera gear and legs.
See the exact path I took;

Another incredible production Josh. We are subscribed to almost all the silent bushwalk RU-vidrs as it's one of our favourite styles.. and both my partner and I agree you are a step above the best of them. Thanks for your time and effort as always.

Nice one Josh, brought back great memories when I did it in Jan 2019. So many amazing spots, hitting that perch at Contos was one of the highlights. Those final southern beaches look as soft as ever. My hats off to you doing the kms & getting all the photography/drone work in. Did a quick early morning section Yallingup to Naturaliste a couple of weeks ago on Jun 1 & remember running into a guy geared like you at the trail near Sugarloaf.

There's no way this only has 11k views, Idk when, but this channel is gonna blow up! There might be some value in making an instagram, twitter, and facebook page to keep people informed about what you're working on, and when new videos are up, I believe that's a pretty standard method to increase engagement. Also patreon might be a potentially good option to help fund these trips and allow you to make more videos. Lastly, I'm sure there's tons of brands that would be willing to work with you and there could be some benefit in getting in touch with with brands that seem to sponsor other hiking creators. Basically the quality is 1000% there, but I think some strategic use of social media could help gain a corresponding amount of traction. Just my 2 cents! And again, great video, thank you for making this!!!
@ab76254
@ab76254 2 года назад
Sorry more thoughts: - Potentially splitting this into 2 parts might generate more views, and considering the quality, that wouldn't be unreasonable, I think - Adding cc's describing what your doing and general thoughts throughout the hike might be an interesting additional, similar to how the channel Primitive Technology does - The colour palette, sound design (music choice, balance between music and nature sounds), the order of different shots, the variety of shots, the 4k definition option, and so much else about this is just spectacular, you really are incredible at this!! - I feel like you also have an edge on RU-vid, cuz it seems like practically no one is filming Australian hikes in this high quality, from at least what I could tell - You have a great sense of humour too 😆
@JoshCarrHikes
@JoshCarrHikes 2 года назад
Thanks mate, really appreciate the feedback. When I posted a new video on the channel I will promote it on other platforms such as reddit, IG reels, Tiktok & Facebook. Some posts tend to get a bit of traction but overall I think it’s the lack of regular uploads that are hurting the channel growth. It used to be a concern of mine but I’ve since taken a step back and will look at as an ongoing project of 10+ years. It’d be the dream to be able to do it full time but realistically I think that’s a long way from happening. I’ve thought about setting up a Patreon but I just don’t feel that there’d be the support, plus I wouldn’t feel like I need it as I’m relatively well off & in a stable job for the most part. I really like the idea of incorporating comments though like Primitive Technology, might do that in the next upload!

A great film Josh you're right to call it that, as its beautifully crafted mate, loved the leaf! How hard were the 30k plus days? The contrast between the Tamala limestone and the granite beaches is great, the granite being my favourite as it is so colourful!
@JoshCarrHikes
@JoshCarrHikes 3 года назад
Thanks mate! The first day definitely tested the endurance levels. Ended up walking the last 2 hours in the dark and rain but apart from that it wasn’t too bad. It’s certainly a sight to see - Some would even say that the granite is very gneiss ;) (geology nerd here)

Hey Tim sorry about the delayed response. By shelter I’m assuming shelter from the elements while you’re hiking? Unfortunately not too much from what I can recall.
