I was thinking "this seems pretty easy" till I got to 0:25 It's Petrucci, I should have seen something like that coming.....

It actually surprisingly easy when you try methodically work on it. (I mean not easy-peasy but fairly manageable, I was expecting much more difficulties). I was able to play it after about a year playing the guitar. Some small leads in the same song are faster and actually gave me more problems when I learned it.

@@siricortana9550 I played for about 10 years on a serious level (recordings, gigs and so on) then did not play for 10 years. And then after a year of practice - I was able to play this solo without any problems

Thanks for the idea, I got a few Petrucci solos coming up, and I will add As I Am to them. The thing is that I've already played 3 of his solos and I want to keep Solo Of The Week diverse. But you can be sure I will keep your suggestion in mind.

David, desde hace anios busco solos de guitarra por que me encanta reproducir solo esa parte. Nunca habia encontrado unos con tanta calidad de audio y habilidad como los tuyos, no se por que no tienes mas views, no te detengas! Tocas increible, saludos!

Da muy bien para improvisarlo, que creo que así lo grabó, y en vivo se basa en lo mismo ... creo que no vale mucho la pena sacar ese solo entero, sacate tu un par de ideas del solo y basate en ellas igual, desarrollalas, respeta los cambios de acordes

how long it took u to get the solo right, and how long it took u whole song/ ,, so far Ive been working on this solo for 4 days, so far can't get the right speed yet, kinda getting close, is just a hard part that scale

Hi Carlos, it definitely took me more than four days to get this solo down. Be patient and don't rush it. I think that's the key to playing clean: increasing the tempo gradually.

On the bends, do you push the wah down as you bend? Or pull it up as you bend. For some reason I'm having trouble replicating the sound.

Very Good, only one small correction - in the 32 legato run - the first 4 notes on the D strings are: 9 7 6\5 (slide from 6 to 5), instead of 10 9\7 5 I could figure it out by slowing down the master guitar track, most places you look for got this part wrong. and also, you only pick once on every string, (that's how you're playing it, but not how it's written in the tab)

I have the original tablature book that Petrucci transcribed and the it says 10 9\7 5 FWIW.

I have it too and it's wrong. It's easy to hear if you listen to the guitar track. There are many mistakes in the books. Either they weren't really tabbed by petrucci or he made a mistake or he forgot how he played it on the record. He said himself that he has terrible long term memory.

How anyone can play this fast is beyond me. I practice for hours and my fingers can't really grace the fretboard. Plus I think I play way too tightly.
