Come join me as I hike to Nambe Lake in the Pecos Wilderness of the Santa Fe National Forest. You'll see first hand the beauty of this little paradise. You'll see how I set up camp, find water, and make food. You'll also see a marmot in a spectacular backdrop. All of this is set to acoustic music for a peaceful yet entertaining experience.

Going here in February to solo a night. Going to be cold, but I'll be prepared! Great video.

Going on this trail in a couple of weeks. Love the latrine idea, all the plant and animal explanations. Thanks for sharing, subscribed!

your videos rock, i've just got into hiking and backpacking this year. im going into pecos next week for an overnighter. i was wondering if you have any advice on which trails to take and what lake to fish?

I'd go to Stewart Lake. Everything else will probably be frozen over. You may have to cross some deep drifts so be prepared to post-hole.

Love the video. I am learning about wild foods to eat and you mentioned that there were several there. Can you give me more info on what you saw. Thanks

I don't remember the specific plants that I saw there a year ago, but I know for sure that you could brew a few good cups of spruce tip tea.

Also John where can i find that spring?

The spring was alongside the main creek on the South side. It's just upstream from the major 90 degree bend before you get to the big meadow. It's hidden in the brush and hard to find. Good Luck!

Where did you get your trail map and did you find it accurate? Thanks!

I got my map from the Santa Fe National Forest website. Click on "Maps & Publications". Next, click on the National Forest Store.
