I sleep the night solo in an old, Spooky cabin in the woods. I take a good look around and try to discover how old it really is and who it could belong to.
That was great mate! Loved the history and loved the little editing/filming tricks you did on this one. As for the people calling out at midnight, fuck that haha. I would be sleeping with my knife very close 😂
I 100% had the axe on the floor behind me if you can see it. You’ll definitely notice it’s not above the fire anymore 😂😂 Thanks mate. I put a lot into this one and actually had a lot of fun doing it.
Gidday mate..what a cool little cabin. I'd love to find a old hut somewhere in the New Zealand wilderness while out walking around, so far I have not seen anything but lazy people's rubbish. The voice and whistling would of made me clinch me cheeks so tightly from fear 😂😂 . Glad the dog was happily reunited. And this fella Harry sounds like a proper character lol..
Ahh Sam! You’ve made my weekend 😄 Thank you so much. 🙏 I genuinely had a lot of fun making this video, very happy with how it turned out. Excited to see what else I can find to investigate. 🙌
One of our fav episodes! Thanks for sharing. This one ticked all the boxes; bush hut, history and a bit of mystery thrown in as well. Keep ‘em coming mate :)
As RU-vid spooky stories is my job I really enjoyed this 😂 the look on your face explaining those voices and the whistle. Somethings are just meant to be a mystery ❤
Very interesting story Mattsy I think lots of places in Australia have a mystery house ,cave or cabin like that we had a small cabin where I grew up in Victoria about 40 klms east of Melbourne it was an Artist cabin in the bush on top of a hill and there was lots of paintings in there but we never saw anyone there back in the 1950s it is long gone now as that hill is covered with houses but in the mid 1950s it was already old maybe I should have kept some of the old paintings that were there who knows maybe today I would be a Millionaire
Wow… that is pretty damn special. I would loved to have seen some of those paintings for myself, while they were still in the hut. That would’ve made for a very creative space for someone at some point in time no doubt. How cool!
That is definitely a possibility! He may have even built it and lived there while he was in Sydney and maybe someone just came along and restored it as a personal project. So damn cool!
Wow! I cant believe im so late for this one, mattsy that was such an awesome video. You continue to amaze me with each one, you can really see the time and effort you put i to each video and it is absolutely appreciated. As for the humble and loyal fans of yours helping you out to find these places, hats off to you! Another great video, cant wait for the next one. This really is making memories for the grandkids mate! Cheers 🍻
Haha! It didn’t really hit me just how strange an idea it was until I got home and I said to Carli “Am I really weird for having slept in that hut alone?” 😂😂
Haha thanks for noticing, mate! 😆 It was good fun and yes, a lot of work but I learned a lot and not just about the cabin. Keen to apply it from here on out. Don’t worry, the fast pace won’t apply to all style of trips 😄
This is interesting because near where I live in Melbourne, someone was living close to suburbia in a state park (plenty gorge) and had built a wooden shelter and had attempted to start an adit for a hard rock mine next to it and now there's a plaque claiming it's an original old miners but. Your mystery could very well be a similar situation: hut found, mystery to the finder, council gets wind of it and sticks a plaque on it for shitsngigs
Thanks Steve! I appreciate it brother. I’m glad you enjoyed it. It was good fun to make. Still curious about the real story though. There may have to be a follow up down the line.
Good one, mate. I was hiking down around Western Port Bay 15-20 years ago, in my youth, and came across an old ghost settlement/township: A few houses, with only the bases of the walls left. 30 meters away, in pretty thick bush I found a big bank safe. It would have been 4 feet tall and 2-3 wide... rusted to shit. The whole place was easily 100 years old. I bet they left and had no way to move the vault. The thing would have weighed a couple of ton.
Oh no way! A shame they hadn’t decided the gold was too heavy to carry away as well 😆 That’s extremely cool though. I might have to go snoop through that safe I paddled upon in one of my videos. I’m sure it’s empty but I have to know. It was full of sand and debris.
the jolly swagman shall be alright in th end as long as they stay focused on the jumbuck they are about to catch... 🤣🤣🤣 awesome video as always, may the success of your channell continue to flourish.
Enjoyed this one mate! I like how you weave a bit of history in with your adventures. Don’t see how this channel isn’t at 20k yet. Keep up the good work.
Haha thanks, Andy! I think I know why, I’ve started to right the course with my last two videos according to the data, so hopefully I’ll see more organic growth from now on. And don’t worry, that doesn’t mean the content turns super short and over the top 😂 I just liked that style for this particular trip. Let’s see how the rest of the year goes!
Nice one Mattsy, that was a very cool video and story mate. You're a braver man than I, because there is absolutely no way in hell that I would have slept in there.
Maybe he framed his own death by drowning , are there reports of his body being found ? Maybe he did live his life out there . Mystery indeed . Food for thought . Loved this one mate .
@@TheSillySwagman He would have a grave sight whether he drowned , if his body was found and verified , or lived out his days in the stone cabin . If there is a date on the grave sight , that might help determine where he died .
Awesome storytelling Mattsy!! I kinda wish you didn’t solve the whistling in the night thing... I reckon I would’ve enjoyed hearing your theories on that too 💪
Interesting! The people calling out in the middle of the night though, stuff that! I wouldn’t have slept at all. Not at all related to the video but how good is the alton fitted sheet? That thing comes on every overnight hike, totally worth the small amount of weight. Especially if you use a quilt
I know, right! 😂 What made it worse is that it was only one ladies voice, nobody else. And she was whistling and calling out the name in such a drawn out way, it just didn’t make any sense. I was more confused than spooked at the time haha The fitted sheet is great! I love it. I can imagine how much nicer it would be to have if you’re using the quilt too. Perfect 👌 Thanks for the support, Kim!
@@TheSillySwagman thankyou, curiousity love your and scottys walkabout, soo looking forward to getting fit after my 6 years and counting caring for my folks 24/7. Use to hike out on the walsh and irvinbank and camp out with my dogs. Rough style to.
@@rosemaryshepherdsmith5110 Ohh get out there! The worst part about getting your fitness back is thinking about how you have to get your fitness back, once you start it’s 90% of the battle I reckon 😆 Good luck and have fun!
Hey mate. It sure was! At the time I thought a lady was calling out “Byron”. When I finally saw the flyers up it all clicked. But I didn’t work it out until the day she was found.
Yep! That’s the one! From what I read, the character was based around several bushmen/stockmen but Harry was certainly one of them. I’ll have to watch it now haha
