I hope that in my newly commenced retirement years I will be able to "return to nature" a little more often, again. My old 16 foot Alumicraft is easy to launch, stable even in rough waters, and only drafts about 3 inches. Time for some renovation for both me and the boat!! Thanks for taking us along on your adventure!

Cool! Is that what they call a "Jon" boat?
@watsup1350
@watsup1350 2 года назад
@@ParklandFilms Actually, no. The 16 footer is a v-nose old f-series with a 15 inch transom and 54 inch beam. Mine is the basic model with 4 cross bench seat. It's rated for 35 HP as is. The same model with 20 inch transom was rated to 45 hp. It's a very flat bottom, which makes it interesting in rough water, but handles chop up to 10 inches, very well.

Ryan, so happy to find your channel after seeing you on Josh Alexander's live stream. I LOVE that you went "stealth camping". My husband and I go wilderness camping every August in Maine (USA); we have to bring all our gear via our boat to a very remote island, but it is SO WORTH the work. There is not another soul for miles, no traffic, no light, no noise, nothing but big lake, blue skies and starry nights...The night sky is AMAZING in the remote reaches of our world!! Thank you for sharing. I look forward to watching your series and seeing more content from you. Best regards!!

You have such a calming way in the wild and show such respect for nature. We used to camp in the wilds of Alberta in the 70's. Enjoy re-visiting the memories through your video's. Glad to have found you through Alex and Josh.

Ryan, Great place and Pelicans, I just found out White Pelicans go north to Manitoba regularly in the spring and summer. I used to see Pelicans at Brigantine Wildlife Refuge in New Jersey in the Summer. I'm originally from New Jersey and the Barnegat Bay area and Cigar boats and there ilk are a PITA. My buddy and I fished almost every weekend in his 12 foot aluminum hull with a Johnson trolling and a bigger Merc. Old timers and professional boaters knew enough to be responsible for their wake and noise levels. You were in the right place at the right time except for your rain magnet secret tent camping. LOL Cheers, Rik Spector Ferndale, WA

Right on Rik, as a kid in northern Alberta we never saw pelicans that I recall. So now that I'm in central Alberta, I see them quite often. Although, we had a fish kill on this lake about 10 years ago (too much algae, killed ALL of the fish) and the Pelicans were gone for about 2 or 3 years until the fish population came back.

Enjoyed your camping, I went survival camping on an island that we canoed to in Saskatchewan when I was in cadets and we had to eat off the land as well as make our own sleeping quarters with tree branches etc. It was a great experience and will always remember that 😀. Thanks for sharing your time with us and Blessings 🙌

I was also in cadets, and although we never went canoeing, we did have to camp in our own shelters. I'll never forget that it was awesome.

Totally agree with you. Why would you go out on a boat just to have a party and listen to music... Makes no sense. Enjoy the piece and quiet.

I stand firmly on the belief that those geese are the meanest thing Canada produces. The people are nice and the animals are mean... completely the opposite in the states 🤣
@ParklandFilms
@ParklandFilms 2 года назад
Lolol yes I've heard some stories of mean geese. I've personally had a totally different experience a few years ago. Where I used to work, for three years in a row, geese laid eggs in a nest on the roof of the building. I was the only one who kept an eye on them daily. The parents were a little nervous the first few days, but gradually relaxed when they saw me. They didn't attack me when I picked up one of the hatched goslings that was trapped behind a ledge and almost appreared to thank me with a strange nod when they realized it was all ok.

How far away was the train? Maybe you'll have to rethink your landing spot! Those geese will not welcome you!
@ParklandFilms
@ParklandFilms 2 года назад
Train was about 2 miles away. I've been to that spot a dozen times in the last 5 years and that's the first time geese were there!

Hey, I just bought a 1957 Monarch a month ago. It is nearly identical to the one my Dad owned in the 60's. I got it running and gave it to him a few weeks ago. He loves it! I've seen a couple of videos from your channel! I will have videos about the Monarch out sometime in the next couple of months.

@@ParklandFilms Cool That you could find one for sale, They seem to to far and between now days, Be cool to see the Monarch when you load up the videos. My dad had one too back in the 60's but only kept it for 4 years. He had a whith 54 Ford sedan before that.

Wonder how the squirrels got there? Wouldn't over-pipulation of them eventually be a problem, especially without predators keeping their numbers in check. Curious.
@ParklandFilms
@ParklandFilms Год назад
I suspect they get there in the winter, the ice on the lake is frozen for about 4 months. As for predators, there are owls, and eagles in the area. I wouldn't be surprised if the odd coyote checks out those islands lol.
