I attempt to survive 24 hours with camping gear I bought on Wish. Is there anything good on wish.com?? Well We've got 24hours to find out!
》What gear was actually good and what gear just plain sucked?
》Gear Reviews
》The Survival Kit:
A few things weren't bad but overall I wouldn't recommend it
》The Tent:
Maybe for kids, but I wouldn't actually recommend it
》The Sleeping bag:
It wasn't the worst but I don't know that I would rely on it. Unfolding it and using it as a blanket wouldn't be bag though.
》The Stove kit:
The bowls weren't all that great but the stove and the pot were decent, but the plastic needs to go.
》The Headlight:
Works great but the charge doesn't really last very long.
》The flashlight:
Actually like it but it's not nearly what it claimed, maybe 200 lumens?
》The Fire Starter:
Works great, recommend
》Balaclava:
Thin, meh

In my younger days I remember buying a 2 man orange tent that was more like a 3 man tent at a store in NYC called Hermans Sporting Goods. Unfortunately they are no longer in business. Used it for back packing, hunting. Paid $59 bucks held up pretty good.
@OXFOOT
@OXFOOT Год назад
Yeah I feel like especially in the last like 10 years camping gear has gone up exponentially. I’m sure my dad would say the same about all his camping gear but even 15 years ago I bought decent camping stuff for like $50-$100 and since then I can’t even get a hammock for $50 anymore.
@Benson4A52
@Benson4A52 Год назад
Hey, enjoyed the vid. Always down for a, "here's the cheapest stuff" one to help me justify my own setup. Donating the tent to a kids group or labeling it a kids tent and donating it is better than throwing it. It might last a few more nights. The rest of the stuff you don't want to keep can also be given away or recycled. Interested to see what good stuff you found on Wish. I think it'd be cool if you tried a "thrift shop camping" or a "used camping gear" video. The entire setup wouldn't need to be bought from the same location too! Could even just highlight some great deals you found and use your rig for actual camping. Thoughts?
@OXFOOT
@OXFOOT Год назад
I’ve had bad luck with buying things second hand when it comes to overland gear lol. A lot of my pants I’ve gotten at thrift shops and I still have a lot of stuff that I’ve gotten second hand in the past but I’ve bought like 3 big items used and they’ve all turned out terrible. That being said I’d love to talk to someone who has a lot of used gear and maybe get their perspective. My wheels, sliders and the whole truck itself I’ve bought used and had decent luck with that.
@Benson4A52
@Benson4A52 Год назад
@@OXFOOT fair point. I bought one used fancy tarp for camping and almost never bring it, lol. My sliders, coilovers, rack, tonneau, and I'm sure something else is all used but I guess when it comes to gear for camping, I just wait for discounts and buy new.

I’d next do Walmart… I’ve often had to get stuff exclusively at Walmart when I was living out of my camper last year. There were no other store options so making Walmart work was a challenge, but a more realistic challenge to something an overlander may have to do. Thanks for taking one for the team!
@OXFOOT

Definitely need to do a harbor freight since they have an off-road/overlanding section now. 👍🏽 However, a Walmart one is inevitable since there’s a handful of those on YT with a $100 budget. Maybe do a recreational overlanding/camping video? Like fishing, group games/solo entertainment (not that kind gents…😂) shooting/archery, etc. As far as what to do with like the tent & sleeping bag donating is your best bet or give it away to someone who might be able to get even the smallest amount of use out of it. Even tho it’s junk having some barrier between the elements & something warmer than cardboard boxes/newspapers can still make that difference.
