In this video I head away with our dog Tilley, for a stormy mountain camp in the Southern Alps of New Zealand. Sadly Mia was working for this one, but she'll be sure to be on the next adventure!
Awesome mate. Love solo traveling myself. Looking forward to seeing the build. A drone would be great to show what looks like amazing scenery compared to what we get in the north island 👍🏻
Great little video. Ive ordered myself a troopy for exactly this and I'm super keen. You guys in NZ have the most amazing scenery! Keen to follow your jouney! Keep it up.
Good to see a new channel, looking forward to more I also overland with my Border collie so also good to see your beautiful girl Travelling along @JL2OFFRD
Nice wee trip, doggo seemed to enjoy it. Is that the wee lake that rhymes with Elf? It was our favourite overnighter when we lived in Christchurch. Had a Bongo van, and camping restrictions weren’t the same…our Golden Retriever would jump straight from the van into the lake of a morning. Made for a slightly damp morning coffee.
I also got fed up with the poor low temperature performance of those 220gm cannister stoves, so bought a Coleman 533 "petrol" stove in which I use Shellite as a fuel. It only has a single burner . I bought it online from Australia. The screw on cannisters that contain a mixture of propane and butane work better in low temperatures.
Wish we could get 70 series here. Id love to buy a brand new troops or crew cab. Tough and simple. I have a Lexus gx460 (Prado 150) that I'm starting to build now. Can't wait to get out and camp
Hey mate. Nice 78. What wheels and tyres did you put on? Nice upgrade from stock. I got a 76 in December and just starting the process of doing a few things to it. Happy adventures and give Tilly a pat haha
Hey there, thanks for the comment. 3” Dobinson MRR kit, with parabolic rear leaf springs, 315/75r16 Yokohama Geolandar tyres, 16x8 Dynamic steel wheels with -50 rear and 0 front offset.
A comment about the stove: if you want to get geeky about camp stoves, learn about the Optimus 22 kero stove. Hit me up if you need one, but “I know what I got😏”….
I've been camping in my Troopy for a few months. Indeed it is the feeling of complete calm and shelter from the weather that is very nice. We are quite lucky that many campsites are in the narrow valleys out of the wind but from time to time I like to just stop on top of the hill and wake up to watch the early sunrise: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_oeZm2jQO24.html
Hey Tom! For the troopy itself the next big ticket item is an interior fitout (bed, fridge, kitchenette, storage, 12v setup etc In terms of travel plans/trips, we have heaps in the pipeline so keep your eyes peeled 👀 👌
