Thanks for the review... I have been chomping at the bit for the last 3 years. Watching, wishing, and hoping they get it figured out... I am not overly impressed by what I have seen... I will be waiting a little longer before I buy one. Hopefully they can prove that they have what they say they do. If so, I will jump at the opportunity to give them my money.
I thinking waiting for them to get a few more things figured out would be a wise thing to do. That being said, I love the idea and I think this camera will ultimately be a game changer.

Thanks for sharing. I made a few videos documenting the trials and tribulations of the more recent Soloshot 3 firmware upgrades as well as some accessories/tripod options to elevate. Hope you'll have a look sometime.
Having a real problem getting this to sort out. It is extremely sensitive to any interference. The TAG gps signal appears weak for base to follow. If the camera gets sun in it - it is very slow to lighten up video again .. stays dark too long.
I'm surprised that everytime I go to Track - it wants to recalibrate. Even my Phantom 3 doesn't do that ! The TAG and Camera updates don't seem to register to avoid re-installing. I check update situation while charging each time .. Base says up to date - but TAG and Camera keep installing update again. They say success ... but why again ? Or are there more updates ?
But why would tag and camera keep saying update and re-applying same one ? I invite all owners and Soloshot to get together on a Yahoo Group site I put together : groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/soloshot3/info Its free and being uncluttered with typical Facebook rubbish - can provide a base for us to all help each other to gain best use. Facebook is fine as a chat - but not good as a site to sort questions / answers / problems. If Soloshot can join in as well - it gives them a direct handle on what we as owners / users experience.
Hey man great video. I am in the process of deciding to get the 25 or not. I know this is an older video. Do you still use this camera? Any other issues with it? I got mine after waiting for 2 years, I am happy with SOLOSHOT ! But I can’t understand how to connect the base to a tripod? Although I have updated all the three ! Thanks for update!
I know this is only a small thing - but I notice you have a lens cap .... mine had none. In fact I printed my own with 3D printer in the end. I am now getting moderately good tracking after updates and working out own way to do the walk after calibrating. The concept of using GPS is actually the problem as it cannot keep up with quick direction changes or quick models. Its fine for horse events or similar but as soon as action starts to speed up ... it has problem to keep up. On my channel are various test vids showing this.
I never noticed before .... but today watching your vid again ... To be honest - the 3D print one is bright RED - so I know its on there. With black - I can see myself forgetting it !!
Do you know if it can pan vertically? I mean if you have the watch on your wrist and you move your hand from your head to your toe will it follow your hand? By the way, I can't believe it took 3 years, that's very disappointing. I'd like to buy it but cannot wait 3 years!
No matter what, they did it and didn't steal a bunch of peoples money like thousands of other companies have. i Commend SOLOSHOT and hope they will give all you that stuck in and didn't bitch like..., a good discount on the 4 : ) .
About 250-300 ft . Using it for surfing. It’s a 65 . It is tracking me but I’m just not quite in the frame . I tried to center it manually at about 40 ft first but then it loses me. Thanks for reply 👍
That should be right in the 65 sweet spot. I have to confess that I gave up on mine - was not worth the headaches. Have had better luck with the rylo (see my vid)
Kite Army yea I think that it won’t be able to zoom for what I can see but I want a camera that I can use for other purposes! What you think? Isn’t the GoPro a better quality Cam?
I don't think we have seen the full potential of the Soloshot - it does have 25x or 65x optical zoom which is crazy. That being said I do like the new go pro 6, I have the session 5. The 6 has way better stabilization but is $500.
Kite Army yea, I have a $1000.00 limit to spend! I am playing simi pro football this year and want the tracking cam for practice but want the good camera for indoor use! I herd that the Solo is for outside only!
Alright...time to get real here - If your semi pro baller plunk down the money for the soloshot3. They do have an inside tracker coming. This camera could help you improve - For $700 you're in!
Total waste of two years waiting for something that is mediocre at best. The video quality is about GoPro 3 quality. That fact that the phone cannot be used to control the unit, not even to take a photo is just a plain and stupid let down. Sadly this thing is a victim of being too slow. Active image tracking can be built into the camera without the need for a gps type tracking devices and image quality is light years ahead today as compared to two years or more ago. They missed the boat sadly. Now if they had stuck with the base so it allowed you to mount your DSLR (Thats what I ordered in the first place) then they would have only needed to focus on the tracking system and the image quality would have been up to the standard of the camera you attached. I tried mine twice and now its going to spend eternity in a box sadly.
I wish you were wrong on any of those points. I hope that some company makes a base that can connect to a cell phone. That seems like the best solution for me.
I think you need to watch the video on how to turn it on and calibrate it as you are way off, so much money spent yet so little understanding of how it thinks
