So many people commenting about how long it took and why didn’t they do it sooner. Think of all the cold cases that may have not been uploaded to computers, take into account when this detailed sonar was created and then became available. Then the sorting and someone to rediscover info to even look back into it. I bet the numbers are mind boggling

@@JenAmazed42you are choosing to look at it from a weird angle. Yes, it’s sad but it’s also joyous. I’m sorry but if you believe their celebration is anything other than pure adrenaline, and joy and tons of other emotions is weird then that’s a you problem. And I mean that in the nicest way. You can’t tell people how to process their own emotions. Jared has been doing this for awhile, while one of those men said it was their first day I do believe. I thought it was Incredible to see the energy shift, it’s real. You want people to put on a front? This is real life, real people, real emotions. In my opinion the only thing I noticed is how smooth Jared ran while the others seemed to get confused, tag a vehicle more than once, and just be discombobulated. Once again it’s the difference between years of experience vs doing it a few years or just starting out.

I was a tow and recovery truck driver for several years. Believe me, there are many things I wish I could "un-see". God bless the AWP team for continuing to help families to find resolve and peace. I am flabbergasted at the amount of sunken cars in that canal! It’s wonderful that you found Maureen’s car with her in it. It’s a very somber feeling that comes over me, though, connecting with the sight of that car making its first appearance since that day that Maureen plunged into the canal in it.

The good news is that the majority, or even all of the other cars have probably been dumped there with nobody in them (either insurance fraud or dumping after theft or some other unknowable reason). The number of cars very close to the side of the canal and on top of each other also suggests this. They're dumped at consistently car accessible places at low speed. i.e. the car is simply pushed into the canal.

to me it means no one bothered to even look a single second....also pretty sure some cops tend to overcomplicate a case in their head to prove that theyre so smart and ive noticed in many failed investigations they are super stuborn about ignoring the obvious

Probably didn't have the right resources to search for her. Also, they had nothing but what she said to children as to the fact she was going to take her own life. The police could only take a missing person report. Thanks to all who worked to bring Maureen home.

Genevieve - if you have a provider- get them to order MTHFR- if you are positive you might need methylated folate. (I am not a doctor, but I am speaking from experience. I suffered from depression for 45 years) hang in there- you are important.

@@fjb3544how do you know she commit suicide You don't know at all. You just go from the fact that she was in the back of the car. For all I can see it also could be a crime. Or maybe she tried to get out through the back and it was just an accident. When you nosedive in the back is the last to go underwater and there will be an air pocket for some time. You just jump to conclusions They found 24 cars. That should tell you something. I lived near a canal and cars drove in it on a regular basis.

The back is the last to sink when you drive in a canal and there will be an air pocket. So that is where she tried to get out. It also could be a crime. Don't fantazize over something you don't know

Well, the family already suspected she was in the water and met her demise. Now they can bury her properly. I rather find my loved one and have peace of mind, and know where they are. It's important to know. Our family had a tragic loss in the mid 60's. My 14 year old mentally challenged cousin was found after several weeks, floating in the east river. As tragic as that was, not knowing where he was, was worse.

Sonar was invented in 1906, there is NO excuse for the police not finding her less than 100 yards from her home. The first thing they should have done was send divers into the canal in the 1980s. I'm glad her family has the answers they need and can put her to rest, but it has been 38 years of torture for them.

Yeah but even Jared said that just based on Sonar alone there was a large possibility that some of the cars would not show up. The only reason he was able to find her car was because of live imaging

It's not about fault or blame. However, her children told them Maureen said that if she ever committed suicide that she would drive her car into that body of water and that's exactly what she eventually did, and the authorities still never found her after all of the advances in technology....@@EdmundSampson-pd7vi

It’s heartbreaking to know whatever Maureen was going through in life led her here but what’s even more sad is telling her kids. I could never tell my kids something like that and they have to live the rest of their lives thinking about it and wondering. Wow. Blown away by the amount of cars in the canal. Dove Florida rivers for years and never came across a car. How do so many cars end up in there with seemingly no one sees them going in? Great work yall.

@@michelleblose226 They started out as drainage and flood control canals which would have to deal with multiple hurricane storm events through the year. Some of them may have been deepened further to make them navigable for private boats.

All those years just sitting in her backyard basically. I’m so happy for the family, finally getting the answers and peace they deserve. It’s very bittersweet. I know the dive team got very animated but can you imagine solving a 38 year old cold case? Bringing closure to her family by bringing her home for proper burial. When someone you love completely disappears, it’s tormenting to those left behind. I know first hand. Thank you yet again AWP for a job well done. I think it's a really great idea when AWP work with other teams around the country. Learning different techniques from each other and working in other teams home field. I've only seen a couple videos from from SSSS, I love their positive go get em attitudes and drive. I'm so used to Jared's very calm and discreet approach to how he runs his crew. You wouldn't know his team was in the water unless you happen to see them. All you you wonderful teams are a true testament that there really are unselfish, God fearing, all loving people still out there. Keep up the amazing work!!!

I have been diving since 87...there have been divers, and tow truck recoveries long before that. It's disgraceful that PD knew what she said about where she would be, and they never had anyone look for her, and left the family to wonder and anguish for almost 40 years. I didnt like that gobby diver. He acted like it was a game and not treating all the cars/situation with respect due. Any of them could be a grave site. I get he needs a new team to carry on but you can tell these are absolute rookies at this side of diving. Its not funny and that loudmouth needs to calm down, speak normally and remember that discretion and respect is number 1. Hard to watch this one as totally lacked the compassion all the old videos had

I was scared there was going to be gators in the water. Man there were so many cars!! I know the other cars weren't what they were looking for but i can't help but wonder about those too!! This was when cars were still mainly metal. Had this been a newer car it would have fallen apart. I can’t imagine being her family and being told she really had meant what she said and was in the canal behind the house the whole time. It’s just heartbreaking she felt this was her only option. A double edged sword. Very glad you found her Jared et al . I am sorry that she was in so much pain she chose to end her life. Jared your patience and quiet demeanor is well noted. Due to some comments I want to add ,yes it is great when a case is resolved but it is usually somber and bitter sweet. . Yelling out with glee in a very public venue when you have just found a family member dead in a car doesn’t fit. Speaking from experience .

Update 3/12: the team was here in Douglas County working on this a few days ago! 💖 Sadly no sign of the missing teacher, but they left some equipment they thought could be helpful. 👊🙏 I immediately thought of this team coming to Douglas County Oregon....a Glide schoolteacher reportedly drove off the road into the river. Sadly, the vehicle has been found, but the driver is missing from it, as the windows were reportedly busted out. 😢
