His legs are missing and hes way higher up than he was when he recorded his last moments. Later we see raptors jumping, trying to reach Erics mother who is also hanging from a tree. I always got the impression the raptors arrived and wanted to kill Eric. To save the boys life Ben wiggled around and made noises to attract the Raptors attraction. They ripped off his legs and bleeding out he climbed further up the tree, while succumbing to his wounds. In a climate like the one of isla sorna insects turn a corpse into a skeleton in a matter of days.

May just be a hole In the plot with the part where he went up higher. Otherwise makes perfect sense.. and it coulda not been the raptors somehow he coulda climbed up to try and un tangle before it happend.. -to add to that I think the raptors woulda left some bone leading me to believe a T rex or something reached up and chomped his lower half off

Suspension trauma is likely the other thing that killed him. Look at his harness. The flow of blood was cut from his legs via the femoral artery. This is actually a thing that OSHA safety personnel warn workers about when they are working in harnesses. So not only is the poor bastard dealing with internal trauma, but with the reduced blood flow from his legs going back to the torso, his blood goes bad and clots. So if the internals didn't kill him, the clots going straight to his heart after dropping Eric did. At that point, Eric leaves before the scavengers start to eat the boy's stepdad.

I mean whether they rot it off or they were detached by a predator or whatever if they fell to the ground they wouldn't stay there for very long especially if they had some degree of meat still left on them they could have very well been adjacent to the corpse but again unless it had some relevant meaning to the plot of the movie wouldn't have really elaborated on

What if it was a mid sized carnivore like ceratosaurus? He was hanging and was still alive. All of a sudden while still alive, lets say a ceratosaurus came by. It saw the dying ben struggling and grabbed on to the legs. It was ripping, biting and throwing around ben until his legs came off and his body was dangling around wildly, which caused him to get catapulted up even higher into the trees.

As someone who lives in a rather tropical area, my own theory follows the internal injuries one. In a hot and humid environment, decomp operates at an accelerated rate due to the nature of all of that bacteria having ideal conditions. I mean, a Uni over this way left a dead deer out and within ten days decomp and scavengers cleared it out. So. Dude died of internal injuries, legs fell off and were probably scavenged by raptors or other smaller critters. Body ended up higher from continued attempts at scavenging by flying dinos. Although with all the cords and foliage cover they couldn't really do more than yank at the parachute and lift his remains higher. Which also explains the state of his harness and the paracord being an absolute rats nest.

A reason as to why I don’t believe the Pteranodon theory: prior to later events in the movie, they were locked in their cage. They escaped at the end of the movie because the cage wasn’t locked, and left the island. There’s nothing indicating they had free reign before that incident, so it couldn’t have been them.

It really is as simple as "he couldn't get down". He was tangled in the harness and couldn't get free, then was left to hang up there until dehydration took him. Then a tropical setting does what it does best and rotted away his body along with perhaps the occasional scavenging bird or climbing compy picked a piece here and there. I figured this out when I was 12 when the movie came out, was it really some big mystery.

If he was dangling from a branch that was flexed downward due to his weight, if his legs are removed, he will weigh less and hang higher. If his legs are pulled off, he would have been pulled further down by the weight of the attacker until the limb(s) tore off, and the flex of the branch would rebound, lifting him even higher, or even flicking him to another, likely higher, branch.

Chances are he did died from internal injuries and then a dinosaur just attacked him. So he was still killed by internal injuries. Most likely landed wrong in the tree and had sever impact, especially by the fact that he could of also had outside injuries as well due to how tight the strings could of been on him. Also depending on how server the injuries are, it could be 6 hours unless taken to hospital (looked online). Due to the environment, it could of been much less.

@@jessecrump1424Nope, and here is why. First, Eric is smaller, so the chances of him taking damage is, too. If I drop a mouse down an elevator shaft through, it lands and is fine. If I drop a horse, it is dead on impact. Throw in other obstructions, mouse is still good but a little dinged and horse is dying already as it hits. Second, the harness and life vest he was still wearing would have protected Eric's front, along with his instinctive reflex to use his arms and tuck his legs for protection (it is possible Ben also told him to do so). Ben's legs would have tucked up, but been obstructed by Eric (potentially, even further protecting him) and his arms were still holding onto the parasail and the camera, thus keeping his body in an untucked position. Ben's body being bigger than Eric's also provided protection (similar to the man who died protecting a smaller, terrified woman by holding her and wrapping around her at the Aurora, CO Movie Theater attack). Third, the internal damage was likely inflicted from impacts to his back. Again, Eric's back is protected by Ben. However, Ben's back is completely exposed to hitting branches and other dense foliage. There is a potential for bludgeoning, punctures, gashes, and broken bones (vertebrae and ribs) as a result. A barracuda launched itself out of the water at a woman on a kayak in Florida and the impact collapsed one of her ribs. If a fish can do that, imagine what a tree (and some of those tropical trees are absolutely massive) can do. It is also possible for him to have broken a rib in one of the hits and it punctured a lung. All this to say, Eric would have been fine for a variety of reasons, and Ben would have died shortly after getting Eric loose. It was his final act to give the boy a chance. Oh, one final reason Eric would have been fine and Ben wouldn't have: plot armor. As for his legs, who knows.
@jessecrump1424
@jessecrump1424 8 месяцев назад
@CSKaras you're ignoring the fact that in the video that Paul, Udesky, Amanda, Billy, and Alan watched, Eric didn't have a scratch on him. There is no way he wouldn't have been injured at all in that situation, so he had to have had internal injuries. And Eric wasn't that much smaller than Ben. Maybe came up to mid chest give or take. Eric's body in the harness covered the majority of Ben's torso so yes, he would have been more seriously injured than Ben if the latter had died from internal bleeding.
@CSKaras
@CSKaras 8 месяцев назад
@@jessecrump1424 Go back and rewatch the scene carefully. Eric has a big abrasion on the bridge of his nose, a huge abrasion or cut on his left forearm several on his hands and a quick glimpse of some on his legs (as well as Ben's legs). He is also wearing a 3/4 sleeve shirt, which may have helped him. Also, once they hit the canopy, the fall would go from a glide at a forward-downward angle and turned into free-fall straight down as the glider failed and crumpled. What's more, the glider and rigging would have got caught up in the trees and slowed the overall fall, but Ben would have even more opportunity for traumatic injury due to the fact that he was hooked directly into the rigging. Eric, being attached to Ben's harness, would have been less impacted by the glider and rigging getting wrenched this way and that as they fell through the branches.

@@benroraff8400 Compies can EASILY climb trees. We see them hopping, which would take an increased amount of strength in their legs to do so rather than just walking. With their downwards facing front claws and their extreme light weight, they could scale up the bark of a tree and probably fall onto Ben from the branch that the parachute got snagged on. As we have seen in JP2; they remember who had hurt them. In the late first/early second act of The Lost World, Dieter Stark zaps a compy with an electric prod. Later on in that movie when he goes for a wee, he tries to do that again. Now remembering this specific thing as a threat, they kill him.

If you buy some handheld cameras today, they warp the terrain so it doesn't look very steep or high. Just imagine how a grainy camera from 20 years ago would distort hight perception and depth. It doesn't look that high, and Eric falling made it seem not far, but Ben was recording a foot or two above Eric's head, so that's just added distortion. As for Ben dying, I just assumed it was the raptor's that ate him. Or his lower half. After all, they did land in the middle of the raptor's nesting grounds.

There is no way Ben died from internal injuries during the descent. Any branches that were hit on the way down would have hit Eric first and dumped most of the kinetic energy into him because Eric was tethered to Ben in the front. Seeing that Eric is more or less fine and able to run away means that nothing bad enough happened on the way down to kill Ben. The Pterodactyls also couldn't have been responsible for the attack as they were trapped into the aviary until towards the end of of JP3. In the scene where the survivors escape the aviary, there is a scene where Miss Kirby closes a gate behind her and leaves. However, at the end of the scene, we are very specifically shown she did not lock it securely and it is opened up again from the inside. This is how the pterodactyls got out of their cage to fly away in the ending. Before that they were trapped inside. The simplest answer is probably the right one: It's a continuity error because the movie was written during film. These scenes were filmed not in chronological order like most movies. It was probably raptors that or other taller theropods that killed him / scavenged the corpse. The change in height is just a continuity error.

This is why bats and Pterodactyls hang from higher elevations (cave ceilings/cliff walls) when resting so that they don't have to climb anything in order to take flight again. Or... Maybe Ben weighed a lot more when he still had legs and flesh, and the branch that he was snagged on bowed a lot under his weight. If (a) carnivore(s) came along and bit off his legs, he'd weigh significantly less. Who's to say the branch didn't spring back a bit with only half a person left on it? As for the tangled lines, if I was tangled in a tree seeing a sharp-toothed dinosaur trudging with purpose in my direction, I'd probably be panicking and trying to climb my rigging too.

Broken spine is highly probable. From a branch that whipped back at him as they came to a stop but I would think a similar injury would have happened to Eric since he was attached to the harness Ben was wearing instead of suffering minor abrasions and lacerations.

People always say "Why did Ben and Eric go to Sorna if there were dinosaurs there" like that was at any point public knowledge. If it weren't for the incident in San Diego, I doubt the masses would have any knowledge dinos existed prior to the opening of Jurassic World, as Jurassic Park was not public knowledge. Hammond called in Alan Grant and the rest to show them his creations BEFORE he revealed their existence to the rest of the world. As far as Ben knew, he was taking his step-son to a perfectly safe, tropical island alongside a trained professional.

I think it was part of the "jump Scare" joke for that particular scene when Grant and the Kirbys found Ben's parachute, that is why his remains was set very high up in the tree than what the cam video showed; you remember when Ellie Sadler found Rey Arnold's severed arm in JP 1, that was that kind of joke then too.😅

The simplest solution is often the correct one. A larger predator came by and in the process of ripping the legs off flung the body into the tree. The fliers weren't released until later in the movie, and while rapors could have the leg part, they would have had a hard time moving the body. You also have to remember he was dead and larger predators are followed around by all sorts of carion feeders because dinos eat like sharks. It would explain why the body is so absolutely picked clean.

Maybe shortly after the fall they got attacked by some predator, and Ben told Eric to run away, but obviously being alone and scared Eric would go back to see what happened to Ben. Maybe he came back to see Ben dead and missing his legs from the predator attack, and Eric didn't want things to eat Ben because you know being sentimental and stuff, so maybe Eric moved Ben further up the tree to stop things from eating him further

One other possibility to consider, for completeness's sake, is the plot-relevant fact that the parasail to which Ben was attached remained intact after the crash. There's no sign of its fabric hanging nearby in the camcorder footage, and neither Eric nor Ben tries to descend more safely by climbing down its material. Rather, the parasail may initially have ended up draped across the tree's upper canopy, wide open. At some point after Ben's death, and his corpse's partial dismemberment by hungry scavengers, a strong wind blew the parasail free of the treetop, lifting it like a kite and yanking his remains upward until the lines once again caught on the branches. The short-lived gust expired, leaving Ben's carcass a few feet higher up, and the parasail free to collapse, sagging most of the way to the ground. Ordinary birds and insects finished the work of scavenging the now compy-inaccessible bones.

Hey! First video I've seen from you and it's good. So I have some trouble believing that he would be able to pull himself up before the massive blood loss from loosing your legs got to him. A theory I have is that a larger carnivore grabbed him by the legs and was pulling at him. This would bend the branches of the trees so when his legs were pulled off he was snapped back and flung into the canopy.
@MrGabrielJude
@MrGabrielJude 9 месяцев назад
I always thought they were too low to the ground under the canopy for pterodactyls to get him, figured Raptors saw him in the tree, jumped at his legs while alive, snagged his legs and as the legs yanked off it caused his body to be sling-shotted higher in the tree.

Huh, yeah that theory makes sense. I always thought that it was simply that he climbed higher and died of his own injuries. Due to the length of time he's mostly skeletonised, so without anything holding his legs up they drop. The bones then get grabbed and thats how they find him.

I kinda figured that Ben's death was either on account of sustained injuries or starvation. Landing so close to raptor territory, Ben didn't get a chance to get out of his restraints and escape with Eric. Ben may have been attacked, and forced to climb higher into the three. Unable to leave, probably injured and unable to fetch food or water, he probably died way up in the branches. The raptors may not even have taken the legs, as they may have fallen off after an extended period of decomposition, then consumed by by any scavenging dino in the area.

Gravity. When he was caught in the tree, his weight would have caused the branches he was stuck in to bend. But after losing his legs and most of his body mass, his remaining skeleton would have been considerably lighter, and the bent branches would have eventually righted themselves and raised his remains farther up.
