Something about the cosmic clone (rift Mario) is that they aren't immortal (at least in Wonder), if you deal enough damage to them they will die. If I remember from other videos, I think it's something like 40 or so HP they have.

i think that the FLOWER was put in the glass by bowser and for a good reason the flower might be able to CONTROL the goo and if the solar system is the level before you save the pops then the ancient pops lived there and mabey bowser is trying to stop us from letting the flower take over the world

At the end of Mario Odyssey, moon rocks throughout the world shatter and scatter power moons throughout the area, which are said to be the same as super stars. This does imply that power moons, and by extension super stars, came from the moon and space, giving weight to your theory.
