Intercooler and radiator + a good tune for your elevation are the biggest upgrades you can do to these cars IMO. Then I did gear box fluid and motor mounts which doesn't really net you performance, but smoother power delivery and shifter feel. The mounts totally took the buck out of my car, but I used fast road so there is a little added nvh at idle even with my tune upping the idle a few 100 rpm's.
I'm looking into this. So this week in TX, we're hitting 105~F this week. I noticed when I was stopped at a red light and the AC was on, the bars increased. I had to blow the heater and then it cooled down really quickly. I think i may do this. I have NOT had any issues when the car is in motion though. Only at stops.
@@zekee1848 Not yet. I know that the radiator sucks. It'll be a project for the fall or spring. I definitely don't want to do another TX summer like this. But for the most part, it's fine. Just at stop and go traffic it'll start overheating unless i kill the AC
thanks for your video! I got to watch my temps while driving all the time using an OBD Bluetooth dongle just because if for some reason I loose all my coolant, I won't know because the temp gauge will stay at whatever temp it was when it lost the coolant as the temp sensor doesn't read air.... watching the temp as in making sure the reading is still changing... Mishimoto is complete junk IMO, I bought one of their coolant tanks for my Fiesta ST and the build quality is pretty bad.. the little sight glass part was leaking straight away and then started changing color and I just ripped it out and plugged up the holes with some brace bungs and some thread tape in the end.. just got to remove the cap to check coolant level. I really do need a new upgraded radiator though but mishimoto is all that's available here in Australia, I could buy one from whoosh I guess, I got a set of spark plugs from them.
Cooling issues seem to be random. Did a track day in 35 degrees celcius and had no problems. Not even went up a bar on the dash. At the same time my friend with the same setup had cooling issues. He upgraded the radiator, i'm still stock😁
You might wanna do a coolant flush and change the coolant too. The dealer and a couple mechanics i talked to recommended if youre still running the orange/red coolant, to switch the yellow coolant Ford offers now. But my mileage was at 100k, so idk if you want to do a coolant change with your current mileage, but might help with the cooling issues idk
I have the S280 with single port aux fuel and on the dyno put out 372hp. I have the Mishimoto radiator and I gotta say the only time it gets over 200° is if it's over 100 outside and even then it only gets to maybe 205. I kinda wish that whoosh had the koyo when I was shopping for the radiator just so I could have something different than everyone else but really I've had zero problems with the Mishimoto
Never had an issue with my Stock setup* on Mountune Now BT with 4 poet Aux. Rarely see it crack 200 unless it's like 95° + out with A/c on. Going up an incline.
Bro what coolant you use? Mine actually overheated and shut off on me in stop in go traffic. Was 105 that day. Coolant got to 255 or 260. Had to pull over open the hood and just wait for an hour before I could drive again.
Did you have to do any trimming, or removal of any of the plastic shrouding? Wondering if this bolts up like factory. I've seen some of the other radiators needed small adjustments and Ive been eyeballing this koyo since the day it dropped.
