‘Vaccine safe, access for all’ is a campaign tackling vaccine misinformation in Laos.
Somchit Keobounlai was four months pregnant when the COVID-19 vaccine became available in Laos. At first, she was suspicious about the impact it could have on her unborn child.
“I’m afraid of vaccines; I was worried about the effects on the baby,” Somchit said. But after receiving the vaccine, she learnt the vaccine is safe for pregnant women.
Somchit is speaking out about vaccine misinformation in Laos, as part of the ‘Vaccine safe, access for all’ campaign, which is supported by the Australian Humanitarian Partnership (AHP) COVID-19 Vaccine Support Project.
The AHP COVID-19 Vaccine Support Project is being delivered though Oxfam in Laos, with funding from the Australian Government. It is assisting the sub-national health system to increase COVID-19 vaccination coverage in target provinces and their populations. ABC International Development is working with the project to provide behaviour change communications support and expertise.
